The live jazz performance of the Bradford Neeley Quartet on Sunday 6/23/19 was incredible! These young gentleman were so fantastic and passionate with every song they performed.
Dining ambiance in the jazz room was wonderful. Roomy for large groups, intimate for a date, and casual and cozy if you chose to sit at the bar.
Food was great, I do with they had more options for sharing opposed to the heavier variety of entree selections. I just feel that would fit the vibe of the room better.
Service was fantastic by all we interacted with.
Great food, and great show from the excellent musicians of The Gumbo Social Club
Wild boar is not a common item, so I tried it,. Tasty, but a little tough.
It was great! Bethlehem and Sad was wonderful entertainment.
Excellent evening! My daughter chose this restaurant for her high school graduation dinner. She was here earlier on a date and enjoyed the food and the jazz music. Our entire family had a wonderful time!
Great place to go for jazz. Food was great, wait staff was very attentive, wine was good.. bartender was on point with wine suggestions. I’ll be going back!
I had the salad with chicken and hazelnuts, a large appetizer which was ruined by exceedingly dry, over cooked chicken. The small, attached, little breads had also been over baked resulting in almost inedibility. I was in the Jazz Cafe for a French accordion and singer duo. They were probably better when they were younger. A rather disappointing evening.
Yes i would, its an excellent value for your hard earned money. $10.00 cover charge for a live jazz show. You cant beat that with a stick!!!!
The jazz cafe is downstairs from Paris Bistro. The jazz musicians perform 3 sets per night for a modest cover charge. Service is excellent- attentive but very discreet so the performance is not disturbed. Cocktails are excellent. Food is classic French bistro cuisine. We went for the last set, so we did not have dinner, but enjoyed some appetizers. The chicken liver pate was memorable. We’re looking forward to returning!
We started with an appetizer with fresh mozzarella and marinated cherry tomatoes. It was very nice. It was served with good bread and butter. We usually share the pate to start but a change in the recipe gave it an unpleasant texture. The mustard and the cornichons have also sadly disappeared. We won't order it again. We initially sat at the upstairs bar and the bartender was wonderful.
We later went downstairs for the entertainment and sat at the bar. There was a French couple - the wife sang in French and the husband played the accordion. We really enjoyed them. We both ordered hamburgers medium rare which were served exactly as requested. The downstairs bartender was not attentive even though there were very few people in the room.
Great meal and great jazz.
We had a great evening sharing appetizers and desserts and listening to the vintage swing band
This was our fourth dinner in the jazz club and the best. Impeccable service. Lovely food. The Tom Talisch quartet was suburb. Great mix of standards and original compositions. The sound in the room is excellent, great balance to hear all the instruments. Hope the Quartet will return soon.
Unfortunately, a group at another table occasionally spoke loudly during the first set. We were hoping the manager would offer them free drinks to move upstairs!!
Great night as always. The food, musicians and ambiance were excellent. My wife could have probably done with a little less news about the singer’s mother. Awesome song selection however.
The Mothers' Day buffet/jazz cafe was overpriced for what it was - there were some nice foods available, but the service was terrible - they kept running out of plates, leading to people waiting to access the $50/plate buffet, omelets arrived at different times and were delivered to the wrong people, long wait for order from carving station, tea/coffee, etc. Plus the additional $12 per person charge to be in a dark crowded room down a long flight of stairs in order to hear music is too much when the per plate charge is already high. Kudos to Dena Underwood, who is a wonderful musician - but the sound system was not good so the sound was unbalanced. In general, this was an expensive lesson learned. This restaurant might be better under other circumstances, but the Mothers' Day brunch experience was disappointing.
Bait and switch with the “cover charge” as we’re walking down the stairs with the hostess. Didn’t want to make a scene on Mother’s Day but will not go back.
Friends were performing.
Nice, intemate feeling, with live band playing at the far end. $15 cover per person will be added to your check. (Can be paid with a credit card)
This is a pretend to be French restaurant.
Live music was good.
Go there for the music but eat somewhere else.
I loved this place last year when they had a few wuality good items on their menu, but since then they have removed them and there aren’t many other items that can match them.
I came back here a couple times recently and unfortunately they removed the Rosemary Manhattan (it's now an "Herb Manhattan" with rosemary and other herbs, but a little too much herb taste in it now.) They also removed the Scallops Limosine dish which was really good and it looks like it may have been replaced with a seafood dish with clams instead. Not sure why remove dishes and drinks that people like and are quality, but there's still some good choices on the menu.
We have eaten at Paris several times and always enjoyed it
; although it was always a tad pricey
This time we went to the jazz club on the lower level
Our service was poor
I had to hunt down the waiter for the check and the again to give him the credit card
We ordered an entree of a lamb chop
We asked the waiter if it was a single chop; to which he said yes
So I asked if it was a very large chop
He said yes and agreed that it was a lamb shank
It was a normal sized lamb chop for $33 dollars!!
The group that played wasn’t bad but loud and we were told not to talk during the set which was suppose to be an hour but was 1.25 hours
So we couldn’t really talk and when we did we couldn’t hear.
The last note was that we had a wait if at least 30 minutes between appetizers and the main course
We will not be going back!!
Food, drinks, service and dessert were great. Music was wonderful. Will be back.
Went for the jazz. Enjoy the high top tables on jazz cafe. Beet salad really nice. Chicken tasty. Gary waiter very nice. Small details - gave me salad fork for entree. Gave us big soup spoons for dessert mousse. Love the atmosphere.
I brought several work colleagues here for a dinner. it was their first time in Philly. We started our Thursday evening at the Art museum and made our way up to the Bistro. The dining room had a nice number of people, we made our way downstairs to the Jazzroom for dinner and music. We were practically the only ones there. The menu was great they were able to accommodate our vegan colleague, our oenophile, and our carnivore.
The service was good and attentive the music was entertaining and fun.
The food was served hot with fresh ingredients. We had 3 appetizers (1 vegan), salads were fresh and crispy.
Entrees were served hot and were cooked to perfection. We stayed and enjoyed the rich dessert selection and tasty coffee.
The waiter was great -- but he was alone with too many tables (about 9-10). Our appetizers arrive about 20 minutes apart, and we waited over an hour for the entrees. The acoustics made it difficult to converse so we sat side-by-side instead of across from each other. (We both had the exact same meals, and they were delicious!) At one point the singer reminded the audience to be quiet -- I think people were trying to be quiet but they couldn't hear each other over the music.
I came to the Bistro to celebrate my birthday last week. The food was exceptional and I totally enjoyed the live music - so YES! I'd certainly come back!
The staff was very accommodating. The food was excellent. The music we really enjoyed. Didn’t feel crowded and comfortable seating. We certainly will revisit. Thanks!
Very good food, very nice servers and bartender! Management needs to get a better handle on people talking - why do folks insist on sitting downstairs and talking the entire time? It is rude to the performers as well as the other patrons trying to enjoy the music!
Loved the jazz club vibe and the music. My husband and I enjoyed some of our food but were a bit underwhelmed by our entrees. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable but he was super busy. Will definitely try again.
Couldn’t be more satisfied
The quality of food, service, and performance has gone down drastically from just a year ago. :(
The place is wonderful! And playing harmonica with Von Roz was a real treat on this Blues Jam night. They're wonderful performers and wonderful people. Keep it up!
But not for brunch. I was not given the upstairs brunch menu. The service was erratic and poor. They were understaffed in the jazz cafe.
I thought the food and drinks were overpriced. The ambiance was great. Cocktails were good.
It was double date night and we really enjoyed the live jazz and the food was tremendous! I plan on coming back soon.
Reserved a standard table for 2 downstairs but could only be seated at a high top, even though it looked like a few standard tables were open while we were there.
The food was amazing but be prepared for it to take forever to arrive at your table. The upstairs is very nice but down stairs needs help.
booked a high top in the jazz lounge after 8pm on a Friday. The place was completely empty however wait staff was still scattering to set our table when we arrived. We only planned to have drinks, as most parties do after dinner this late at night. Our waiter scorned us for not ordering food, threatening that “next time we decide to come in and sit at a high top we better be eating”. The cover fee without being warmed first was also a nice touch.
our service was impeccable and our food was amazing!
I love the Paris Bistro for the wonderful atmosphere, great music and excellent food.
It's a consistently great place to relax and unwind.
