This a great restaurant for pre theater. The service was quick and attentive without being over bearing. Great house wines! The food was delicious and the portions a good size. There is a very nice side patio in which to dine. Highly recommended.
This place is becoming one of my favorites around town. Servers are knowledgeable and attentive. Menu is filled with good choices, reasonably priced.
Fun, helpful staff.
The service was phenomenal. The food was tasty. I especially loved the ginger mimosa.
Food was good, if a bit overpriced. Two of us ordered a green salad (pricey at $11) to split and when the bill came, they had charged us another $6 to split it making it way overpriced. Fish of the day was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The menu seemed like they were aiming for fine dining, but the ambience is more bistro; noisier and more casual.
I never have been charged $ 4.00 for extra olives in my martini before anywhere that poor customer service or disservice and the special, was the most expensive item on the menu. we were not told that rack of lamb,
What a f$@&in gem! Pardon my French. Amazing all around. Friendly service, great food and perfect ambiance for any occasion. Highly recommend!
Escargot and steak with frites and the best baguette in town!
They did not bring me what I had ordered, then were not particularly helpful in correcting the error. The sea bass was overdone, the steak was fair, and the fries were hard as rocks. There are much better French restaurants in town with equivalent prices. Would not recommend.
Lovely and delicious
We were celebrating a birthday. We loved the old movies playing and music as well. The food was delicious but a couple of things on the menu were not available that evening. Desserts were yummy! Thomas, our waiter was very upbeat, friendly and attentive to our group. A great place for a date!
Food was good but we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated, with reservations, then 25 for them to take our order and 30 or more to bring our food
Service after awhile became slow, had to ask for bill multiple times and ask for server to order dinner. Great food though so worth the wait.
Food was good, but the ambiance and service was lacking. Considering that San Diego has a lot of great restaurants I would not go back to this restaurant or recommend it. The service could improve - we waited a long time just for waters and ordering took longer than needed. The place is very small inside and there were a lot of big groups around us and my table (which was only 4 girls) could barely hear each other.
Would not recommend and service needs to improve.
It was for my bday and the people were really nice it just took a LONG time for our food to come out and for the bill to come!
Food was really quite good. But as someone who is an avid cook and having worked in restaurants, dining out is much more than good food. Honestly, the kitchen crew deserves 4+ stars! But the front of house staff lacked the ability to handle a busy restaurant and maintain quality of service. Take for instance almost 10 minutes for 2 bloody Mary's and a grapefruit juice. That's too long. The server made extra trips for no reason. After waiting 3-5 minutes for fresh pepper and hot sauce, the server came out with the hot sauce, and then went back for pepper. If front of house can match food quality, this will be a great place for a bite.
The menu has changed. There Is no more chilliqualie or crab cake Benedict. The fried chicken sandwich is not very good.
Fantastic everything. The best rack of lamb I've had In a long long time.
I had heard a lot of buzz about this restaurant and it did not disappoint. The cocktails, food and service were wonderful. It was the perfect spot for two friends to catch up on a Saturday night before going to the theatre. We enjoyed our evening immensely.
The service was great, the fromage delightful, however the main courses were just so so.
Fabulous food, service and ambiance. We will come back a and again! A delightful experience!😂
Pork chop, excellent
The food was superb and the service excellent. My date and I enjoyed our steak and duck. The music and old movies give it a nice retro feel.
The special of the day--
The service is awesome. Thank you pardon my french we always have a good time
While the menu is not extensive, it is very well thought out and quite well coordinated, with a mix of fairly traditional and novel items. A good wine list complements well, and is pretty moderately priced for the values it provides, especially in the middle of its ranges. Staff is accommodating and gracious, well trained and pretty efficient
The food itself is wonderful, and we certainly plan on retire in both for this menu and when it changes in a couple of months. The only small criticism I have is the the chef seems a bit too find of rosemary. A little of that particular herb goes a long way, and I would suggest a bit less enthusiasm with it.
Treated very special and cared for.
Tomas our sever took great care going over the happy hour menu, wine, food. He was friendly and professional.
Our food was outstanding, cream of asparagus soup - delicious
The angus burger with the different sauces was flavorful and melted in your mouth goodness;
The open face mushroom, asparagus lasagna ... I was crying because it was amazing. I had to ask my friends not to talk with me while I am eating so I can enjoy the flavors bursting in my mouth and acknowledge the love that went into the creation of this food, plus I wanted only the heightened sense of taste to fully experience the love in this food. Wow! A gastronomic experience.
Atmosphere is org sized, cleans and spacious. Large patio outside. We sat inside.
Would I return - absolutely like every day.
I highly suggest coming here for dinner, happy hour and brunch Amin Sunday's. The live music on Fridays is outrageously great!
Overall experience - fantastic!
What a find. My husband and I dine out every day and have lost some of our
favorite places recently. We decided to give Pardon my French a try and were gob smacked how great it is. From the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left we were cared for like old friends. The ambiance is a little deco a little neighborhood bistro. They have a 2 star michelin chef behind the kitchen and it shows in every detail. From the perfect bread and french butter to the care put in to all of the vegetables ( which usually get overlooked by most). Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. There were no cloying heavy sauces just pure delicious cuisine. We did not have room for dessert but we saw some walk by and they looked super too.
Thank you to Goose and Eric so much for a beautiful evening.
Do not miss the pot of foie gras, a very large portion beyond delicious. Chacuterie is another must.
The pork chop is the best I've ever had. Word has it there a 2 star Michelin chef in the kitchen and it shows on the plate.
AND it's dog friendly, patio seating with water bowls and a doggy menu. So clever.
The wait staff are extremely pleasant and attractive. Owner, Eric, has done a great job in this old spot.
Word of caution, try to save room for dessert.
From the moment we were greeted and seated by Chris, our server at Pardon My French, we knew we were in for an evening of entertaining, memorable, and service. My husband, daughter, her significant other and I were all mad
We went to kick off our Sunday Funday with bottomless mimosa brunch. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious, the mimosas were flowing and the staff was great. Only downer was the bathroom line. It got pretty busy at the peak, and there's only 1 women's toilet so you either had to take a chance and hold it, or wait in line for 10 mins.
Lots of flies.....
We heard this place is great....and it is. The service was outstanding, wish I could recall the waiter's name, the owners stopped by and greeted us,and the happy hour prices and drink selection were a good way to start. My husband had sea bass on squid ink pasta......and I had their rack of lamb. Both mm mm excellent! We didn't have room for dessert. We will be back....love this place. Oh, we got there early and had a reservation but didn't need one--however when we left the place was packed so if you're a diner from 7 on I'd recommend a reservation.
Loved the Drinks the food was so so. My chicken sandwich wasn't very well seasoned and my girlfriend's food wasn't hot (temperature).
Calm midweek dining , first visit. Very pleasant atmosphere, relaxed but attentive service. Outstanding cheese and charcuterie appetizer, then shared a huge porterhouse special with frites. Many other good choices. Had a very nice Bordeaux for a very reasonable price. We'll return.
My fiancé and I LOVED our entres and salads.... and the dessert was superb!!!
Definitely going back!
We were a little early ... So before the crowds came , our waiter seemed to want us to have made all our decisions and then brought all three courses on top of one another...
No feeling of relaxing in between
My date said it was the best pork chop he had ever had in his whole (57 year) life. Service was outstanding and everything we ordered was delicious. Wonderful wine list and very well priced for wines you won't get at another restaurant in San Diego.
Each dish was cooked with love and you could tell this was locally owned and not a chain. I loved everything about it. Food was devine!
Great food and atmosphere. Love the decor and interior design. Staff was very friendly and attentive! Will for sure go again!!
