To honor this, we have brought together the best of the old and the new - in both cuisine and atmosphere. Parcel 32 incorporates the flavors and layered heritage of the coastal South in a refined, yet relaxed environment that reflects the building's history, as well as the modern influences of today.
442 King Street was built in 1837 and was at one point the peninsula's highest-volume bakery for 75 years. Later, the home sat in vacant disrepair for years. In 1998, Patrick Properties bought it to return it to its former glory, helping launch the restoration of the Upper King St we know today. Much of Upper King's revitalization can be tied back to the Patricks and the work they've done to restore Charleston's hidden gems.
Good atmospheric restaurant, nice stuff.
-Portions are very small, I have newer seen such small portions.
-Happy Hour only at the bar, there is not listed at Open table and website.
I would like to put 3 stars, but I will not spoil the rating.
Super cute inside. Super pricey for what you got.
The food was upscale but the environment was casual and relaxed. Very fun and very delicious
The waiter needs to learn what beers you have on tap.
Overpriced and slow service. With all the options in Charleston you should go somewhere else. You can definitely do better. The duck was really good And the main dishes are an appropriate size but don’t expect much to be served along with it.
Laurie, Thanks for taking the time to share your experience through multiple reviews. We're happy you enjoyed the duck! It's a popular dish. Our Large Plates are priced + sized to allow diners to order additional shareable small plates so they can try more of the menu. Our bar offers options starting from $5, should your favorites not be listed on the seasonal cocktail list. We'd love to have you back to try some of the numerous options in the friendlier price range. We hope to see you soon!
We enjoyed both to share offerings a whole fish and a large steak. This was plenty for our party of 6 with additional potatoes and a salad. The food was great. This was our second visit, we will return again.
Thanks for sharing, Lynn! We look forward to seeing you again soon.
We came in for date night prior to the craziness of Thanksgiving, and it was perfect! We got there earlier than our reservation and just decided to cozy up at the bar instead. They've rearranged the furniture in the bar area so there is now a fun lounge space next to the front window. Very cute!
For dinner, we shared the roasted cauliflower dish (amazing!), the clams (definitely order some bread to go with this - you'll want to soak up that sauce afterward), the crushed potatoes (the aioli on this is delicious), and the dry aged beef tartare. The chips that are served with the tartare are so flavorful and go wonderfully with the tartare. My fiance also got the beef loin, which he said was incredible.
As for drinks, I know they do half off all their bottles of wine on Wednesdays. Since I would have been the only one drinking wine, a bottle seemed a bit aggressive :) Instead, I went with the "Thanks for Looking" cocktail, which was perfect for the chilly night.
Overall, great atmosphere, food, drinks, and service. Plus, I walked by earlier today and saw they were setting up decor for the holidays, so we'll absolutely be back soon!
Hubby and I had a wonderful experience for our first visit to Parcel 32. We had early reservations (6 PM) as we were attending a concert at Charleston Music Hall afterwards so we had the full attention of our waiter and his assisting staff (a good thing)! He suggested a pre-dinner cocktail of “Thanks for Looking” which perfectly suited both of us. Of course we had to try the signature pecan hush puppies...definitely lived up to the hype. We then shared one of the family entrees...the whole fish. I thoroughly enjoyed the succulent “seawater and smoke” whole flounder. Our waiter (Ray) explained that they have a very special oven for preparing this delightful dish that is served up with just the perfect amount of smokiness and crispiness. Finished off the meal with a tasty affogato. I look forward to our next meal at this not so hidden Charleston gem.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We love that you had such a great experience. Ray is definitely a wonderful server and always incredibly helpful with the on-point suggestions. Come see us again soon for dinner, and come a little early to take advantage of happy hour, which is 5-7pm every day in the main bar and upstairs in The Parlour!
Our first time here, but certainly not the last! Great experience all around, wonderful vibe.
The atmosphere was beautifully curated, music, etc. Food was sophisticated and southern- so good! Would highly recommend Parcel 32.
Highly recommend, great food, drinks, service, atmosphere. Loved everything about it.
Food was way too salty. Service was mediocre. Not enjoyable.
I had read online that Parcel32 was a great place for brunch and it was! Our waitress had great recommendations and the things we ordered were delicious!
Great night at Parcel 32. Second time eating here. I think the menu was revamped since my first visit. (I was looking forward to the tomato pie, however it is not on the menu anymore). Our appetizers were great: hush puppies, grilled oysters and the yummy bread. We ordered the whole fish(snapper). It was the best fish I've ever had. We shared the bourbon cake for dessert. It was fabulous. My only negative comment is that we had empty water glasses at times. Definitely will be back. In fact we are considering the upstairs space for a rehearsal dinner.
Hi Donna - Thank you so much for your great review! You are correct... our menu changes based on seasonal/local availability of certain dishes. But have no fear - the tomato pie will be back! And we would love to host you for your rehearsal dinner. Please let me know if you would like pricing and info regarding The Parlour. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
We found Parcel 32 while searching for a place to enjoy our last evening in Charleston. In a city known for its fine dining, we were pleasantly surprised and impressed with the experience. The food was so delicious from the bread to the salad to the schnitzel, we will be making it a must stop for our yearly sojourn to Charleston!
Thank you so much for choosing Parcel 32 for your last dining stop in Charleston. We're so happy to hear you enjoyed your experience, and we look forward to seeing you next year!
Yes Charleston is known for great food. But there is nothing better than trying a new place and discovering the food is outstanding! That would be Parcel 32. Tucked back on King Street - this place has a “bistro feel” with a fun vibe. But the real star here is the food. All the dishes we tried really played off the freshness of the ingredients and the subtleties of the flavors. The cauliflower was stand out and the steak was beautifully prepared - not your typical presentation. Fun and delicious cocktails, to top it off, made for a great evening!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and for joining us for dinner! The new cauliflower dish has definitely become a guest (and staff!) favorite. We hope to see you again soon.
Ray was terrific. Meal was excellent. Highly recommend!
We truly enjoyed the restaurant and we will definitely return thank you
Excellent steamed fish!!!
Service was relaxed and efficient.
Will be back soon!
It was our first time dining there and we were not disappointed. My steak was very good. Her duck was outstanding, one of the best meals she ever had. Maybe a bit pricey for the portions but in line with the area.
Our waiter/bartender was outstanding! Very attentive and personable with our group. Made the evening enjoyable.
Creative, chic and friendly fine dining. Dishes were expertly explained, prepared and presented. Another top drawer option on the Charleston cuisine scene.
It was amazing hands down. Especially for our first time being there.
Beautiful presentation of food
Love the setting
Very good meal and service!
The food and service went above and beyond as expected!
So good y’all!
The soup was very good but luke warm. The duck had just an ok flavor. The steak was chewy. The red wine by the glass was limited. My husband loved the salad. The bourbon cake was not worth the calories. Sadly I would not recommend this restaurant.
Overpriced, food mediocre, great service. Will not go back.
Outstanding quality, freshness and imagination went into our meal. limited menu made it easy to choose.
Took the Mrs. here for our anniversary and it did not disappoint. Our server, Ray, did a fantastic job of walking us through the menu and describing some of the highlights. We we definitely come back and recommend to our friends and family.
Please bring back the brussel sprout small plate - we LOVED it.
Everything else we've had is deliciouw as well, but those brussel sprouts ... heavenly!
Outstanding food, fresh and hot ingredients. Excellent drinks- even when we asked to make them extra strong! Can’t wait to go back and make this a regular spot. Try and get a spot upstairs or on the patio deck- beautiful.
Went for brunch. Food was terrific, atmosphere was cool, service was great.
Service was a bit slow but that didn’t take away from the fantastic food and a menu that pleased everyone!!!
We were seated outside on the 2nd floor piazza - I didn't even know it was there! There's only a few tables so it was relatively private and quiet. So nice. There's plenty of indoor space on both floors as well. The food is varied, reasonably priced, and delicious. The menu changes with the season. Their Smash Burger is one of the best burgers in town.
Family in town. Great celebration. Ate at Halls Chophouse last night and Parcel 32 today. This was by far the more interesting and fun meal. We lived every second of it.
Thank you so much for joining us, Christopher! We're so happy to hear you enjoyed everything and look forward to seeing you again soon.
Brunch was wonderful! Service was great, ambiance lovely and food delicious! Will definitely be back and will bring friends and family in :)
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! You'll have to come back again soon for dinner... we just rolled out our new fall menu, so lots of new dishes to try!
The food was very good. We both had the baked oysters and the snapper. The fish preparation was with an Asian flair and needed a little starch(rice) to help enjoy the sauce. A spoon had been provided but the sauce was too salty for eating without some food accompaniment. The layout of the restaurant is not suitable for date night. Couples should not have to share space with an adjoining table of six...way too noisy.
The restaurant was wonderful. We were seated promptly and offered drinks while we waited for the rest of our party. They didn’t push us to order quickly. The food was delicious. Two ordered hamburgers, two fish of the day, one each chicken, and shrimp & crab. Don’t miss the green tomato pie for dessert! (It’s shareable, but you won’t want to. The design and style of the restaurant is lovely and it is very comfortable, with sufficient space between tables. It’s definitely a spot to return to.
Thank you so much for joining us! Come see us again soon... we just rolled out our new fall menu last week, so lots of new dishes (alongside the old favorites). Tip: Don't miss the cauliflower dish!
