Parallax Restaurant & Lounge Ratings and Reviews
After waiting for a table after our reservation time , we were give a table right inside the bar, directly opposite front door. Ask d for something away from the door as temps were I the singe digits, and was told that it would be an even longer wait. So we took the table. Huge mistake on our part. Everytime someone came in, the frigid air blasted us. But onto the food and service.
We ordered a Moscow mule which was delivered in a highball glass bec “they ran out of copper mugs ”. Funny, bec from where we were sitting, we could see them on the shelf behind the bar. Lazy? Stupid? Doesn’t care?
My husband got the wine pairing with dinner. We were through our appetizers when his appetizer wine arrived. Did we miss the point of wine pairing? The rest of the meal was fine. Nothing special and our server seemed ambivalent.
Would give it another chance when it's not Restaurant week. Service was great - Jordan was a gem. Probably shouldn't have ordered from the Restaurant week menu - better stir-fry at Hunan of Solon. But, the place was hopping, so maybe it was just what we ordered. Also, if you don't want to sit on the chilly patio in winter (no ambience there, for sure), make sure you request the main dining area.
The food was average but the real problem was we were seated in what was I believe a porch with plastic tarps over the screens. The seats were cold and cold air swirling around underneath the table despite overhead heating lamps. Although The one near our table was turned off. This was in Cleveland Ohio in January.
Bathrooms were dirty, smelly
Sushi was supposed to be tempura and instead had raw shrimp. Smelled like flash frozen fish.
Salad was not the salad I ordered and drenched in dressing. Even pooled in the bottom of the bowl.
Entree was burnt. Tasted horrible.
Was a horrible special date evening. Manager was nice and apologetic. Waiter was kind.
Had a great experience at Parallax Saturday evening. Table was ready at our reservation time. The salads, sushi, and entrees were excellent. Our server was friendly and efficient. Not the quietest restaurant for a romantic evening but the energy is good and the food is simply awesome. I had a great time all around.
The food and service were good. But we were very disappointed in the price for the amount of food that was given. We went for the sushi, one lobster roll was 20 dollars and the portion was 4 pieces. I would think for 20 dollars they would give at least 6, if not 8. That was a major let down.
The food was not my favorite. I thought the seafood stew was fishy and too spicy. Two of the 4 mussels weren’t open. I didn’t like it at all, but they did comp my meal. My husband had the cassoulet and it was too heavily salted. Peanut butter cheesecake was bland and could have used a drizzle of chocolate sauce or something. Curry soup was the best part of my meal. I’d get that again. Overall, I had high hopes for my meal and was disappointed. Service was great though and waitstaff was attentive.
Had a wonderful lunch but our server was lacking a bit. I asked him what the mussels du jour was and he started explaining what mussels are.😐 Then later when I asked for the cotes du rhone (specifically at the bottom of the list) he came back with a rose. I explained that's not what I ordered and he tried to convince me otherwise. 2 minutes later he realized that what I pointed to was in fact a glass of red. 🤔 that said, our meal was spectacular... just our server needed a little reality check on serving tables.
We went to Parallax for New Year’s Eve dinner 6:00 pm. Food was great...unfortunately, we were seated in the bar area which had quite a chill when the outside doors opened. As diners arrived, they had to stand in the bar area...got pretty full. Plan to go back on a quieter night.
Cozy dinner spot with a lively bar. Even so our table was in a quiet setting and we had an attentive and charming waiter who made excellent beverage and entree recommendations. My duck dish was perfect and my husband who is a very picky eater relished every bite of his chicken dish. I wish we had time that night for dessert but we will definitely make time during our next visit.
