About

This restaurant is permanently closed. Paragon is a neighborhood gastropub serving ingredient-driven, honest food, craft beers, unique cocktails and eclectic wines. Located in the South of Market (SOMA) district of San Francisco and just one block from AT&T Park, Paragon features loft-like ceilings, custom décor and a roll-up garage door that leads out onto a sunny outdoor patio. Paragon's design aesthetic fits perfectly in this industrial-meets-artsy neighborhood: reclaimed barn wood and hand-painted subway tiles can be admired throughout the restaurant and the lounge area is flanked by a giant chalkboard announcing the available craft beers above a well-worn communal table made out of rusted metal and reclaimed Koa wood.

We were happy to see the buttermilk fried chicken back on the menu. We had been there two years before it was fabulous but last year when we came to San Francisco it was off the menu. But when we tried it this year it was like a totally different recipe. Not at all worth the $25. And the Porkchop which is normally fabulous fabulous, was very overcooked and tough. Very disappointed because this is such a great location near South Beach Harbor.

What a great spot to have dinner before a Giants game! The food was excellent (steak :)) and the staff was very fast & friendly. Reservation a must on game day and we were seated right away when we arrived. A+ all around!

Once again the folks at Paragon provided a wonderful experience. The food is good, the service was excellent, we got in and out in time to make the game. This has become my favorite "go to" place for dinner before the ball game.

The service and food are always great at Paragon. We were in a hurry as we had to get back to AT&T Park before first pitch. We had only 40 minutes. Our server was right on it. Our food came out quickly and was delicious. The beer selection is always great. Paragon is our go to place for an ice dinner before a Giants game.

We went to Paragon for the first time for dinner and drinks before a Giants game. Enjoyed the drinks, enjoyed the food, enjoyed the environment. My only complaint, or request I guess, is that some of the lunch selections be available on the dinner menu. There were no salad options, and entrees listed totaled maybe 7-8.
Would like to go back when we have more time and sip beverages on the outside patio area.

I felt it was a little pricey for what we got. I ordered the fried chicken which was very good, but I was served one small breast and 2 legs. For that price I should have the opposite. Greens were good and I'm not a huge greens guy.

I'd like to try Paragon for lunch sometime.

Paragon is a perfect restaurant for before or after the baseball game. Easy to walk to from AT&T Park. The indoor/outdoor seating is a big plus. Terrific bar and the bartenders are really nice. Friendly and conscientious wait staff. The food is always very good with interesting menu selections...comfort food at its best! Though they have appetizing entrees, on this particular trip, we decided to go with a selection of appetizers. All were delicious...pork sliders, chicken wings, coleslaw, and burrata with stone fruit and crostini. We only received one crostini and asked for a few more. We topped off our meal with a selection of sorbet. Workable wine list as well. Would definitely recommend Paragon.

Had dinner here before a Giants game. Despite the fact that the restaurant was very crowded, service was top notch. Additionally, the food was quite good - actually exceeded expectations. This place seems to draw a lively young crowd, especially on game nights. My only complaint is that they reported us to Open Table as a no show - had to get that corrected after the fact. That seems to happen more often than it should and is something OT and its restaurant partners need to get rectified.

Service was good given it was pregame. Waiter was helpful and polite. Food was very good- fresh, hot, and tasteless. Highly recommend calamarie and French fries. Pasta dish with mussels was also excellent.

As usual, Paragon is a great place to get a good, healthy (if you choose), and quick dinner before a Giants' game. The chicken empanadas were a surprise and very good. We had the pasta with clams. The spiciness was a bit much at first bite, but it settled in quite nicely. There were plenty of clams. Our service was spot on with attentiveness even with the pre-game crowd. Also, we were seated right away.
This is one of our go to places before a game is we want a few steps up from baseball faire.

Service was way off Saturday night. Took FOREVER to get entree's. They're used to being busy, so not sure what was up, even food was marginal that night. 1st bad experience I've had in my many dining experiences there...

Good quality restaurant in the China Basin area of San Francisco. Nice, varied menu: I enjoyed the melon salad. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Restaurant was good for a business lunch, however the open floor plan and closeness of tables make the restaurant a bit on the loud side. Still, I'd recommend restaurant as the best in the neighborhood with good food for a reasonable price (at least for the Bay Area). 4 people ate for about $90, including tip.

Paragon changed their menu between the time I booked the reservation and the actual date of my get together with friends. Unfortunately, the gluten free items I was planning to eat were no longer on the menu so I went and ate somewhere else and joined my friends later. Very disappointing. Please add salads back on the menu and chicken that doesn't have breading on it!

One of the worst experiences I have had at a restaurant. Appetizer was delivered after main meal. We were party of 4 and one meal not delivered for 20 minutes after the others. Manager came over after meal to apologize and said a round of drinks were on house. After waiting 10 more minutes we finally left because the drinks never showed up. Food was ok.

Not everyone's food arrived relatively at the same time. We were a party of four one of us got their dinner the other three waited a good 15-20 minutes. Drinks too, took a long time to get to the table. Something should have been comped. Food was decent but don't plant to go back.

Great food, excellent service. Our group enjoyed a variety of appetizers and great cocktails before heading to AT&T Park for Opera in the Park.
Every dish was outstanding, and Paragon has a great selection to choose from. I would definitely return to experience their dinner menu.

Great food -- inferior service. Main entrees come out before appetizers, wine and bread -- burrata with peaches was delicious , but only one small piece of crostini -- asked for more but never got it. Service was pretty out to lunch and non-responsive

Post Giants game dinner. The game had let out so they were slammed. Service, considering the fast ramp, was OK. The food was OK. Had the crab cakes, good. The mac and cheese, not so god. The pasta was under cooked and the cheese was uninspiring, not very creamy or much flavor. The Ahi Tuna was very good but it came with some kind of chip that seemed over fried. My son had the stake that was indeed very good cooked perfectly. He also has the "spinach" soup that really did not taste anything like spinach. Overall, this place is average.

Pre-game hot spot. Great decor and friendly staff. Our server started great but became overwhelmed by large parties and our second round did not arrive in time to be enjoyed with our meal. Salmon dish was wonderful but bbq plate arrived with ice cold sauce. Over all a good experience , but a tad pricey.

Sharing plates is the best way to go! Our favorites were the ahi, calamari, wedge salad, mac and cheese and grilled artichoke. It's a great place to meet before a Giants game or keep a table for a long while with friends. Super fun, delicious and great friendly service.
