Terrific casual dining with good wine list and beer selections. Very interesting menu. Terrific and huge serving of mussels. Callimari crisp and abundant with excellent sauces. Cold soup devine and butter lettuce salad a riff on wedge salad also excellent. Salmon portion was very small, and pasta dish disappointing. Pot roast excellent. Service ok, but perhaps our server was enjoying Oregon’s her n smoking laws as he was quite spaced out, but enthusiastic. The art on the walls is bizarre!
First time here and we had a mixed response. She said her salmon was delicious, my trout dish was average at best. Took forever to get dessert and we had an event to get to so the added stress at the end of the dinner didn't help much. We'll probably try it again another time.
Love the Paragon! Recommend by a business client. I will return again. Attentive and friendly service. Variety of menu choices and ability to make substitutions or alternatives. Fresh and flavorful food.
Yummy seasonal food, bar was very busy (standing room only) but if you can get a table it’s wonderful in the summer
After so many great meals in in Portland, we had a disappointing dinner at Paragon on our last evening in Oregon . We are certain the chef takes Tuesday's off! Our meals which included pot roast and a striploin, were flavorless/ tasteless. Did someone forget to add the red wine & seasoning to the roast???. The striploin was underwhelming but the olive tapenade mashed potatoes was a total miss.
The service was just ok, our server was somewhat attentive but came off as aloof at best. Sorry- not coming back!
The restaurant was nice but all the windows were open (was expecting A/C) on a hot day so we were quite hot, sweaty and uncomfortable. The service was very good and most of the dishes were great but a couple were subpar. All in all, it was a good experience
The soup of the day was delicious, and we both had it. The Cobb Salad was truly superb and the spinach salad was very good. As usual, the service was excellent.
I was not impressed with this restaurant. Our table ordered the grilled cheese, steak, a lam rigatoni special, and the crab cakes. Everything was just okay. I definitely would not recommend the grilled cheese—way too greasy and too much cheese (if there is such a thing)!
Fantastic music on Sunday nights from 5 to 7 PM
Food is always very good and the wine is excellent for the price compared with other restaurants in the Pearl.
This is my colleague's and my "go to" restaurant for the end of each term to celebrate we survived! It is our favorite. The best food, desserts, and wine list. We just said the other day, after eating there, that the place is "our place," now as the service is so friendly, and the food is so good. I would highly recommend it!
We went to Paragon with two friends for the Portland Dining Special 3-course dinner--the spinach salad with fennel was very good. The pork mole was outstanding and left over enough for another dinner. The pot roast and rigatoni with lamb were also very good--a good chef and a good butcher, clearly. The chocolate dessert was over the top, but guess what--we finished it all! We had fancy cocktails (mine was OK), and a bottle of Cotes du Rhone, which hit the spot. All in all, a good deal.
One of my favorite Pearl restaurants! Great service, delish food and beautiful ambiance.
The Portland Dining Month menu was amazing. Some of my table ordered that and the soup de jour was incredible. Additional parties at our table ordered the pot roast, which is a staple on the menu. It was incredibly moist and very flavorful.
This restaurant is truly a neighborhood gem. The food and the presentation was amazing as is the atmosphere.
Came for Portland dining month. Courteous staff. Good food
We went for Portland dining month and the food was fantastic. They also had a wine pairing that made everything taste so much better. It was a great variety on the menu and we look forward to going back and trying more.
Awesome place for a laid back dinner. Food was incredible, great drink variety, and the service was excellent.
Food was great. Service was great. Had a great experience.
Our evening at Paragon was exactly what we wanted; something moderately upscale with non-pretentious atmosphere. Service and food were very good. We will be back.
Great place! We also visit when in Portland
Excellent. This is a go to place for us for great food and service.
Ambiance was good but it was very cold in the restaurant. Windows all around the restaurant give it a good vibe. My husband had the pot roast--very tender, but too much sauce to enjoy the garlic mash. I had the risotto prawns. A little too much basil that over powered the prawns (and I like bold flavors.) It was over-priced by about $3-5 per dish. Cocktail was fresh and delicious.
Good live music but it did seem a little loud for the size of the place.
Happy hour in bar was crowded, but dinner reservations through Open Table were perfect
No major complaints about the food or service, but the fact that different menus are used at different times of the day is confusing. There appear to be menus for lunch, happy hour, dinner, and something called a bistro menu as well. Even the hosts and waitstaff had difficulty explaining what’s available when. Needs to be streamlined.
I've come here numerous times for lunch and it was great. Dinner not so good. Grill was over heated leaving a terrible taste on anything that was grilled. Returned food - main course n dessert. Very expensive meal for being displeased. Hardly any accommodation for vegetarians. No real desire to please customer. Server was great... will not return for dinner again. Too many options that execute especially for cost.
The food, drinks, servers, and restaurant are phenomenal. Downside is noise. The bar side gets pretty packed and lively but there’s no real division between the dining area so we were half yelling to talk. (Disclaimer - it was a Saturday night dinner)
Tried the black mussels in tomato/wine broth that was excellent. The Grand Central Bakery bread is always too good! My wife enjoyed her corned beef sandwich but the portion was too big. It would be great if Paragon offered half size portions for those who prefer to eat less or cannot eat a lot. We always enjoy going here
So bad, poor wine selection, calamari was flat and oily, food took over an hour to arrive, uncomfortable seating location.
It’s been along time since eating here. Who knows why.
Food was excellent, service prompt and professional. Bar staff knowledgeable and fun. I’ll be back!
We are a family of four and somewhat regulars at Paragon. The food is really good, they have good service, great cocktails and a good wine list. This time was our first New Years Eve there and it impressed me even more than usual. First, with one elementary and one middle aged child, it was so nice that they offered their regular menu. And, given it was our main family festivity for the evening, what a lovely surprise it was to arrive to the room so festively decorated with balloons, and hats, tiaras and such on the tables. They really went all out to make it feel special. We'll keep returning!
This is my former university student's and my favorite fixed place to meet 4 times a year. We love it here. She is vegan, and I am not, and the menu provides it all. The wines are fabulous and the service is excellent. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
we really like Paragon and had a fantastic dinner. the only improvement might be adding a few more candles/table lighting. it was fantastic. the music was great too
Old tired menu. No specials. Chicken, pot roast, salmon, yawn. No pizzaz. Limited menu.
Only thing worthwhile: The Mussels.
Will have a cocktail here but will not dine here again. Three strikes yer out!!!
Food was good. Value was so-so. Not the best value, not for everyday meals, but doable.
Paragon is a long-time favorite. Our service was excellent this time. I miss the Mussels recipe that had orange in it. Please bring it back!
We had a great tasting meal of Salmon, roasted Brussel Sprouts, Caesar Salad and delightful hot bourbon Apple Cider. My friend had the pork chile soup that was quite tasty too.
We went for my fiancé birthday and it was delicious as per usual. It was a Friday night so the bar was packed and the noise level was a little too high for our taste but our waitress was very nice, very attentive. My mom and I had the pot roast which is phenomenal. My fiancé had the trout which he said was very good but got to be kind of one-note after a while. The lamb bacon bruschetta appetizer was probably one of the best things I've eaten! Cocktails are always delicious and there's quite a variety. We will be going here more often :)
Food is always amazing when we go! Wish they had better AC, it was SO hot in there last night.
