Meals were a good size & expertly presently. Great service. Especially Julie. Julian & Dominique we’re fabulous, which is what kept us there for hours!
Thank you, Mario & Staff, for a fine Saturday night out! We will definitely be back soon.
Excellent value for a great dinner with live entertainment!
The veal special was totally dried out!
Nice place for lunch; extensive menu. I would visit again in the Spring or Summer when you can sit out on the porch and view the golf course and golfers.
Our ears were ringing when we left at 10:00. My throat was killing me trying to talk to my husband and my friends. The music that went on when the band took a break was excessively loud. We had to ask the waiter for our french fries with our hamburger I had to ask for bread and butter with my meal we had to ask for salt and pepper ketchup also in the linguini and clam sauce in the clams thete was a lot of sand didn’t enjoy that at all. The waiter never asked how we wanted the burger cooked. It was too well done. If he did ask we probably couldn’t hear him. The hostess asked us if we were friends of the band and we were wondering if that determined where we sat. We had reservations I don’t see why she would tell us to wait so she could set my table. The band was good I liked him but you’re right on top of them and I was a little loud but I did enjoy them
We really enjoyed this restaurant. The layout and ambiance are classy and the service was impeccable. After eating, we moved to the bar where it was easier to talk since there was a band playing. Really great experience!
We arrived several minutes early for our reservation and were escorted to possibly the worst table for 2 in the house…..a table in the furthest reaches of the dining room, sandwiched in between two other tables with perhaps six inches to spare on either side…when any guest on either side or my dinner partner would get up to dance or visit the rest room and have to squeeze through, it was hold onto your wine/cocktail glasses….doubtful they would survive the trip. We asked for a different table,,,,ie the high-top twenty feet away and were told it was reserved. Well, I have a reservation, why can’t I have it? The Owner/Manager was quite curt in his response to our inquiry…..and made no attempt at apologizing for the table we were seated at, regardless of the fact I made these reservations over 3 weeks ago. We tried to make the best of it, but it was not a pleasant dining experience.
The food (pasta special and NY strip streak) were mediocre at best, my Vodka gimlet was barely stirred, forget shaken. All the while the high-top table we asked to move to remained vacant for the next 1 ½ hours. When it was finally occupied, the guests ordered drinks only.
Upon leaving, I asked to speak to the Manager again and inquired as to why the high-top table was left unoccupied, only to be taken later on by guests who did not have dinner. In my thinking, if they were there for drinks, the bar area is quite large and they should have been seated there. I was told that they were regulars and that is why they got that table. I have never seen a table set aside for non-diners at the expense of diners in the dining room area of any restaurant. Once again, curt responses, with the Manager wanting no part of the conversation.
Parties of 4 and up will score the better tables, party of 2 forget it….and you’ll still have to deal with the overpriced, mediocre food. If you go for drinks only, stick to wine and beer and hope you have no issues that require Management involvement
I love this restaurant. My only complaint in the past, I ordered vodka club and was given grey goose vodka and charged for it. Just padding the check.
This time I went, the waitress was wonderful and specifically asked what vodka I wanted when we ordered.
Otherwise entertainment was great, they didn't rush us out and food was excellent.
I always pass this place and one day o decided to take my wife and 2 children there. I have to say this place is great. Good ambiance, good drinks and good service. The food was also great. My wife had salmon well done but I would prefer it medium. I had the stuffed lobster tails with crabmeat. They should have just called it lobster tail with a lump crake cake on top... delicious. The dessert was awesome. I had a chocolate lava cake!! Thumbs up on that one. I was drinking Manhattans (a little lighter then I am use to but delicious). Service was very good and attentive.
We went to celebrate a dear friends law school graduation and had an amazing time. The staff were attentive and helpful. The food and ambience were excellent and the live entertainment was a blast. Would definitely return.
waiter was on his phone all night never came to table to see if we needed more drinks after he took our order i had to leave my table to look for him !!!! will not be back for new year again I spilled a drink on the table the bus boy came out cleaned everything up was very polite so i Tipped him he deserves a 10
fabulous bar and great bar tenders and makes fabulous drinks. The menu choice was fabulous as so many choices depending upon your mood.
Before you read our review, know that on this Saturday night the place was packed. Some people like it! We were early diners. Bar was jammed! 3 - deep. Dining room almost empty, but filled up as time went on. Full by the time we left. Service was good when we sat down and got less attentive to bad by the time we were able to get our check. Nice singer at the electric piano though hard to hear over the din! Food was pretty good (not great - Chicken Murphy, dry and overdone med. rare prime rib. Drink prices fair. Very weird venue. Enough TV's to be a sports bar but decorated like a 60's disco palace. No separation betwn bar and dining so nice room and music ruined by the bar scene. Probably good for watching games, but seems to be trying to be everything to everybody and is nothing for anybody. Still - packed when we left. I don't get it.
Arrived into a private party. Offered a table in a back corner. Noise level was at nose bleed levels. Left to both their and our relief. Holding a 100000 point card for the dinner. Living 150 miles w, not likely to use. Less than happy with the loss of the points! Rated food service and value, as I had to if submitting this survey. Really have no idea on these, since, with their approval, we left.
Not a favorite of music. Hard to have a conversation...
We dined here before several times, and decided to bring 4 of our friends to dine with us. On Friday night they have a singer, who is extremely loud, to a point where we could not order food as the waiter could not hear us and we had to point to items on the menu. When we, politely and discreetly, asked our waiter to ask the singer to lower the volume just a bit so that we could at least hear each other, the singer stopped the music, while people were dancing and having a good time, and announced to the entire restaurant that he has to stop the party as "people are complaining that I am too loud. If you have a problem, it's that table over there" as he pointed at us. We were mortified! We live in town and know a lot of people who were there that night and it was BEYOND embarrassing!
In addition, the buss boy, while cleaning up, spilled the whole glass of water all over the table and us. Not only did he not apologize, he did not even come back to clean up! We had to start cleaning up ourselves, until the waiter came and cleaned the mess up.
Overall, I would NOT come back here, nor would I recommend this place to anyone, unless you like to be embarrassed and get stuff, unapologetically, spilled over you.
Food was disappointing the steak was poor. Burger good
Food was mediocre and tasteless but the entertainment was great! Fun place
A mixed bag. Great live music venue, great bar. Service is inconsistent. Food is only fair; I would expect better at these prices. If you are coming for the live music at 7PM and are going to eat, pasta is your safest bet. If the quality of the food were better, overall rating would be 4 stars or better.
Food is pretty solid but they have too many different menus. The selection is overwhelming. Service is sketchy. We often couldn’t locate our waitress and it wasn’t that busy. They need people to remove dirty dishes, and refill water glasses. At 10 pm the DJ was blasting music, so we had a hard time hearing each other. We enjoyed our food.
The food was very good. Especially the duck entree. However, we were not told that our food would come out in an hour. I later found out that they waited for the duck to be customer ordered. Also , I was told that the dancing/music would start at 9. Nine came and went. We left after 9:30. Still no dancing. We were there to make a decision whether to have a private party there.
Food was pretty good. I had the fried soft shell crabs which were a bit too crunchy. My wife had the duck which she enjoyed. I would have sent back my dinner but it took so long to get dinner served I was afraid I would get too cranky if I waited again. That's why I only gave 3 stars. I would go back tho as the menu was pretty interesting. The appetizer and drinks did come out in a timely manner
Almost canceled Saturday night after reading reviews, but called and spoke with the receptionist and I voiced my concerns and she was shocked when I explained that I was a little nervous about the reviews. After hearing her protest about reviews, I made her a deal that I would keep my reservations, but that I would hold her personally responsible if the night was a bust. Half way through dinner I went out and gave her a big hug and told her that I was very happy with service and food.
The food was pretty darn good, but what stood out for me was how hard the wait staff was working. Jorge was our server and he really gave it his all and gave good recommendations as well, as did the others.
I have already recommended Par 440 to plenty of friends. Give it a try, I don't think you'll be sorry.
Music was so loud couldn’t hold a conversation. Staff overwhelmed.
WE WERE EXCITED TO FIND SUCH A LOVELY NEIGHBORHOOD PLACE , FEATURING A COMPREHENSIVE MENU AND UNIQUE CHOICES. WE WERE PLEASED THT OUR MEALS CAME OUT TOGETHER AND PIPING HOT, TOO. EVERYONE ENJOYED THEIR FOOD. HOWEVER, WE WILL NOT BE BACK BECAUSE OF THE PAINFULLY LOUD AMBIENCE. WE HAD TROUBLE CONVERSING AT OUR TABLE AND SUFFERED RINGING EARS BY THE TIME WE LEFT.
PAR 440 is located at a public golf course in Short Hills, NJ. Ambiance is very good. Restaurant is nicely designed, large, attractive bar area, lots of different seating types and relatively new. The food is good but not excellent. Service is very good. Sunday brunch crowd was sparse. Menu too long... there were 4 of them. View of golf course was very nice. Heard that PAR 440 is crowded most days but not on our Sunday late morning. I need to try it for lunch or dinner.
Excellent atmosphere and delectable food , including outstanding entertainment E.R.I.C. A definite hot spot to unwind and have a good time.
Love the place, food and service, but the NOISE level is overwhelming. They need to do something about that! If only asking noisy groups of drinkers to tone it down. Your review should provide food-specific options. Their seafood is especially good.
We were to celebrate a birthday! Service was good, the food was very good - but the noise level was awful First background music a bit loud from the bar - THEN "entertainment" And it was awful, loud and out of tune. Some guy who I later found out was Frankie Vallie's brother was the singer. We asked to have it tuned down, but we were ignored. This facility is not meant for loud music with a guy attempting to sing karaoke style. I was glad when we left and my ears were ringing for a long time. Not a happy celebration at all - we couldn't cary on a dinner conversation. Probably won't return.
Was out first time at Par 440. Went for dinner on a Friday night with another couple and did not realize that there was music. We were seated at a table immediately in front of the musician and the speaker. It was the worst dining experience I ever had. Took all the enjoyment out of the evening. Had to basically scream to have a conversation. It was literally painful to be seated at this spot. Additionally, the service was inattentive and quite slow for a dinner of 3 hamburgers and a pizza. When I mentioned our experience to the hostesses, they could care less. The food was good, but the overall experience was awful because of where we were seated and the level of service.
Loved Happy Hour at bar and E.R.I.C. put on a great show. Dancing and having fun.
Went and sat at the outside bar after dinner. Bartender gave out glow in dark bracelets. I took a walk down to the fire pit. Had so much fun that I didn’t realize till next day that my legs were covered in mosquito bites.
Very good food and service. We were there a a night with entertainment which was also good but they need to open up room to dance.
This was our second time there. Food is good, not great. Nice place to go with friends or to eat outside.
We loved the place & will definitely return!
Par 440 is next to a golf course. The outdoor seating is great for watching the golf players, either playing on the course or playing at the driving range. The burgers are great. They even put the restaurant's logo on the hamburger buns.
This was not our first time but this was a first for just plain bad. I don't know what was going on there but many surrounding tables were complaining and the wait once our order was taken was 45 min. Lots of apologies but still way too many things went wrong during the course of the meal.
A wonderful restaurant in a fun place. The food was delicious.
The service was incredibly slow. When we were first seated nobody came to our table. We waited so long time athat eventually I had to physically get up and go ask where our waiter was. The actual wait staff was pleasant but just SLOW. Also after we finally placed our order, it took a very long time for our food to arrive. On the plus side, the food was good, but the slow service was so frustrating and made me question if i would ever return. It’s a shame because I was really looking forward to dining here!
A very enjoyable, reasonably priced restaurant. Service is excellent, and has a good children’s menu. Although they have three different food menus — grill/entrees, sushi, and pizza — I’ve consistently ordered the best ahi tuna burger I’ve ever tasted!
Both Mario’s (manager and waiter) were fantastic .Food was great . Gonna come back for the live music!
