Paprika brings a refreshing cuisine to the Mission District of San Francisco with the addition of classic Eastern European cuisine, with Hungarian, German and Czech influences. Paprika is an important spice in Eastern European cooking so expect to see it in many of the menu options. Popular choices are the paprika goulash with pork and gnocchi and the various authentic sausages. The dishes are presented beautifully as well as tasting marvelous.
Paprika boasts a simple, uncomplicated dinner menu as well as German and Czech beers chosen to complement the cuisine. There are also some wine options from Hungary, Germany & Austria. The atmosphere is casual and relaxing with friendly and attentive service. Paprika has been recommended by the Michelin Guide for San Francisco dining for 2016 and again in 2017.

Food was excellent, service was great, people were very kind and passionate about the cuisine and legacy.
Excellent Hungarian and Czech dining. Nice to have a place with a true sized litre!
Great food, great service.
Paprika has amazing food! This visit we had caprese salad, paprika goulash and
chicken paprikash. Always excellent! This is one of my favorite restaurants to take family and friends to. The food is especially comforting when the SF weather is dreary or cold.
I wanted to love this place, the the food just lacked flavor overall, except for the sausages.
Great service and food was flavorful and more interesting than expected.
Great date night location and the food was excellent.
Fabulous food, service and wine! We will be back!
We very much enjoyed Paprika. Goulash, Pilsner, and the best strudel I’ve ever had - what’s not to like?
Amazing food, awesome beer
The food was good. The split pea soup was amazing.
Surprisingly authentic and tasty Hungarian dishes. I was only disappointed in the packaged gnocchi and was hoping for something homemade like spatzel.
Very good under coronavirus circumstances. Sitting outside on 24th Street was very comfortable and the servers were very handsome and accommodating.
They are one of the few San Francisco restaurants that are serving dinner Al Fresco style outside as a sidewalk cafe. The first thing I saw upon arrival was the staff cleaning and sanitizing the tables and chairs where we were being seated. The staff is attentive and friendly. The food was well worth the trip to SF. The deserts were mouthwatering. Overall 5 stars!
Had a wonderful Valentine's Day dinner with authentic Eastern European food. We had the chicken paprika and the pork goulash and both dishes were delicious. Started with each of the soup offerings for the day, Split Pea and Tomato, which were also very tasty. It's a small place, staffed by the owners, who are very pleasant and attentive. This was our third visit to Paprika and we highly recommend this great little spot in the Mission..
Paprika is in a great location. The food is delicious and the service was superb. It' wonderful to have an eastern European restaurant in the Mission neighborhood. It provides variety and a great taste of culture. Bravo to the owners and to the people who waited the tables and took wonderful care with each person. They may very well be the owners!
The owners are incredibly friendly, attentive, and relaxed. The Szeged Goulash is the reason to go; delicious, consistent gourmet comfort stew, served with all the warm sourdough you need to polish your plate of the sauerkraut cream! Large steins of beer and generous wine pours to boot, and das boot they have btw if you're looking for an extra smiley departure!
Excellent goulashes, bread, charcuterie board, plus BIG beers. What's not to love?
Cozy, delicious, good location. Friendly servers, nice menu, will definitely be back!
Nice small restaurant that reminds me of Europe. Food is good and service is friendly.
Had a great date here. The staff is amazing and will surely make your night! The food is also quite tasty
I ordered the paprika goulash. The flavor and texture of the meat was very good. Enjoyed the gnocchi. Good meal and value.
Limited menu, kind waitstaff, fast service and seating
Service was great.
Food was really good.
Ambience was causal and welcoming, though a bit warm.
I definitely recommend.
I had a great dish--Goulash with pork and gnocchi. My companion was less excited about his chicken dish. The Caesar salad was great--fresh and crisp with fine dressing, and the apple strudel dessert was delightful, not too sweet, as is often the case.
I was most impressed by the couple who own it, as they were so pleasant and the pride of ownership comes through. I'd definitely go back.
Great food. We came early on a Tuesday so we were the only one’s there for half our meal. So of course we had great service. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and explained ingredients and preparation. Definitely will come again.
I have been to this restaurant a few times and it is a true neighborhood gem. It is a family-run operation. Always get a warm welcome and enjoy some hearty food and good beer. If you are craving a some good Central European food, this is the go-to spot in the Mission.
Nice casual dining with excellent food and outstanding service. The hostess was friendly, gave tips on what to order, and was attentive but not intrusive. Another plus is their affordable prices.
Authentic Eastern European Cooking - A Real Find in San Francisco
Great food and service! This place is a hidden gem. I will definitely be back soon!
Great food and great value!
Paprika Restaurant is a typical hole-in-the-wall restaurant run like a mom & pop eatery. The food is excellent, tasty, and well proportioned. The ambiance is rustic but friendly. Although we compared it to the Paprika Restaurant in Budapest, Hungary which was a very high bar, our local Paprika Restaurant was well worth the evening out and we definitely will be back.
We were seated by the window which made for great people watching. Food was delicious and a good value.
This restaurant is a real find. Although the decor is relatively sparse, it's intimate, warm and has the feel of a neighborhood haunt. Above all it is one of the few restaurants left in San Francisco where you can enjoy a quiet dinner. The service is attentive without becoming overbearing and the food is excellent; reliable, traditional meals, well prepared and presented, and very reasonably priced. The goulash entrees and the Apple Strudel were remarkably good and the Tomato Basil Soup was the best ever.
Very tasty meal and attentive service. Will return.
Unique blend of Central and Eastern European dishes. Hard to find meals prepared in a very traditional way. Pro Tip: If it says "spicy" in the name of your dish it means SPICY! Europeans are very simple people in this regard, they actually say what they mean...:P
Paprika was a great eating eperience. The owner/Chef is charming and very efficient. His Chicken Paprikash was the best I have ever had. I can highly recommend this restaurant. Nothing fancy, just great food and drink.
If you miss the flavors of eastern european foods that your grandmother used to make, this is the place to go! The flavors in the goulash and paprikash brought me back to her kitchen, and the apple turnovers for desert reminded me of her apple pastries.
superb food and service. fantastic goulash with sauerkraut, and home made tomato soup. excellent beers on tap
My father, who was raised in Warsaw, is always sad about not being able to find Eastern European/Central European food in the Bay Area (not since Old Krakow closed!). We took him to Paprika for his birthday, and I don't know the last tie I saw him so happy. The waiter was really sweet, and my dad had a very happy birthday. The goulash was just fantastic!
