Pappardella is a very nice, neighborhood place. Even though the restaurant was packed when we arrived, and we had to wait a bit to be seated even with a reservation, the service was surprisingly attentive. The menu has a good amount of variety, and food was fresh, well-prepared and flavorful and was delivered with just the right amount of pacing. The wine menu has some nice selections and was fairly priced, as was the food. For anyone attending a show at the Beacon or otherwise visiting this neighborhood, including those with kids, Pappardella is an excellent dining option.

Excellent food. Had the seafood frutti de mare and it had a lot of shellfish and an excellent red sauce.

My GF had the chicken Milanese and that too was excellent.

Great neighborhood go to. Terrific pasta dishes and warm/friendly service. Classic italian on the Upper West Side.

This place is great! The food is delicious and VERY filling, trust me. The ambiance is exactly what you'd want from an Italian place on the UWS. Definitely recommend if you're in the neighborhood.

My only "complaint" is the waiter was never around. We had to ask other waiters/waitresses for our dessert, check, etc.
Overall the food was amazing !!! We will definitely dine here again.

We enjoyed the food and the ambiance.

But we wanted a leisurely dinner, without being rushed. When the waiter brought our drinks we told him we were not in a hurry. When we ordered two courses, we explicitly stated not to bring the second course immediately following the first that were not rushed. In spite of that request, as soon as they cleared our first course plate our second course appeared. Very disappointing.

We wanted to have a relaxed evening and expected to spend 2 hours from arriving through to after-dinner drinks. Instead we were finished in 45 minutes.

I guess if you wanted to get to the theater, this type of service would be appreciated. But our waiter totally failed to read the situation and follow our instructions.

If we go again, we will order one course at a time to take control of the pacing ourselves.

They play games with tables. New people get crappy tables jammed together in middle. So do kids, always bad tables. I got the first, only one with a reservation, but because I had a toddler they served people behind me first. I got the worst table in the house. The exact reason I stopped going there two years ago. Never again. Sad thing is I eat out every night in the neighborhood. Just not there.

We had not been to Papardella's in 20 years but it was wonderful and we plan to go back often. The restaurant is lovely, the food was authentic Italian and delicious, the wine selection was good and they had a carafe option, which was a nice alternative and allowed us to have both white and red wine--a glass each. Service was very good. Wonderful without being very expensive.

We arrived about forty minutes early and were seated immediately. The waitress was very attentive but not very knowledgeable about the food being offered. Regardless the service was great the food was outstanding and the atmosphere great for dinner and conversation. the only low point was that when our waitress left so did the great service, it was like they forgot to assign us to someone, if you're willing chalk that up to bad luck you won't be disappointed here.

We tried Pappardella for the first time for brunch, and it was a pleasant surprise. The food was tasty and freshly made. I tried the spaghetti frittata, which was delicious, as was the salsiccia omelet. The other two in the party had eggs benedict - one traditional and one with salmon, and were also very happy with their choices. The brunch drinks - Mimosa, Bloody Mary or Bellini were generous and good. This is a great value for the UWS neighborhood, and recommended.

We have been regulars at this neighborhood restaurant for years, but something has changed and changed dramatically. While some of the wait-staff are still around, the usually good service is just no longer here. In addition, the management has loaded in a number of additional tables, and those that they now have are small making the dining experience that was once very comfortable, now crowded and uncomfortable. Even the young women seating the quests don't seem to know or care about what they are doing. And while it seems that the kitchen must have the same chef and mostly same menu, the way the food gets served is simply just unpleasant, uncaring and lacking in attention. This is now the second time inside of three weeks that we have decided it is just not going to be on our regular list. Our conclusion? They must have changed management! And with the food and service being mediocre at best, the price tag on both the food and wine seems excessive when before it was already moderately expensive.

Thanksgiving dinner. In a space for two tables, they put four. The waiter spilled a cup of wine over my husband, but it wasn't his fault, it was impossible work there with so little space.
The food was bad. We asked for a medium stake and they brought us a totally burned stake, impossible to eat.

had not been here in quite some time and the place seemed a bit tired; the bread basket no longer contained their past wonderful foccaccia and the melanzane parmigiana which had always been fabulous in the past was just average. has something happened to the kitchen recently? will be awhile before we return.

Not happy with our dining experience. I was hoping that our second time dining here would be as good as our first. Unfortunately, it did not live up expectations. Very dissatisfied with service and seating. Made reservations and noted that it was for an anniversary celebration. Not once did anyone even say a word to us about our special celebration. Hostess seated us right as you walk in, directly in front of the door. We got a gust of wind every time the door opened. The table was so cramped. I kept getting knocked into by the two people sitting behind me. I asked if we could have another table and was told by the hostess that this was a table for 2 and the table they had set aside for our reservation. They knew we had a reservation and this was the best table they could put aside? I think not. The hostess didn't seem to care one bit that we were not happy. If we didn't have a show to make we would have left and dinned elsewhere. About 10 minutes after we arrived a mother and son came in and were seated at a table for four against the wall. A much better table that should be have been reserved. DO NOT go here for a special occasion - you will not get any special attention. The only redeeming part of the night was the quality of the food. My husband has celiac disease and his dish was outstanding. I also really enjoyed my dinner. We are really torn about this restaurant and are not sure if we will return.

I went to this restaurant two times and enjoyed it. The first time I was there for a friend’s birthday and the second time, I was on a date with my boyfriend. My friends and boyfriend loved the food and service. I enjoyed the dish called penne bisanzio. They also make this dessert that is delicious called a flourless chocolate cake. The prices are reasonable. I would recommend this place for special occasions or if a person just wants a quiet night out with loved ones.

We went with another couple before an evening at the Beacon Theater. The food and the service were excellent. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. We found it online because we were going to be in the area. But it is worth a trip there in the future, which we are likely to do.

Bf and I come here quite often and always enjoy the food and service. The last time we went, however, we received very strange and frankly rude service by the barmaid while waiting at the bar for our table to be ready. My bf ordered a bottle of wine and when it arrived I looked at the barmaid and smiled expecting her to pour the wine. She completely ignored me and interrupted my bf who was quite clearly busy with his phone. She was insistent that he be the one to try the wine, completely ignoring me and my existence. Bf and I both thought that was so incredibly rude. Bizarre and rude. Was I not allowed to try the I wine that we had ordered because I'm a woman? Because of the colour of my skin? Because what?

Our waitress was lovely though, and she gets 5 stars. The barmaid gets a big 0.

Overall, a solid experience - I'd come here again if in the neighborhood, but I'm not sure I'd make a special trip. I had a special of the day bean soup to start, which was delicious, as was the bread and olive oil. The pastas were good, but not quite as flavorful as I'd hoped. Portion sizes were reasonable. Service was great. They were friendly and quick, and they followed up by text to let us know we'd forgotten our credit card.
