Pappardella Ratings and Reviews
Passed this place so many times and finally went in for dinner. The calamari appetizer was fantastic, and a great change from your typical fried offering. HAD to try the pappardelle, and had the dish with wild mushrooms....ready for more. Service was great!!!
I went to this restaurant two times and enjoyed it. The first time I was there for a friend’s birthday and the second time, I was on a date with my boyfriend. My friends and boyfriend loved the food and service. I enjoyed the dish called penne bisanzio. They also make this dessert that is delicious called a flourless chocolate cake. The prices are reasonable. I would recommend this place for special occasions or if a person just wants a quiet night out with loved ones.
We went with another couple before an evening at the Beacon Theater. The food and the service were excellent. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. We found it online because we were going to be in the area. But it is worth a trip there in the future, which we are likely to do.
Bf and I come here quite often and always enjoy the food and service. The last time we went, however, we received very strange and frankly rude service by the barmaid while waiting at the bar for our table to be ready. My bf ordered a bottle of wine and when it arrived I looked at the barmaid and smiled expecting her to pour the wine. She completely ignored me and interrupted my bf who was quite clearly busy with his phone. She was insistent that he be the one to try the wine, completely ignoring me and my existence. Bf and I both thought that was so incredibly rude. Bizarre and rude. Was I not allowed to try the I wine that we had ordered because I'm a woman? Because of the colour of my skin? Because what?
Our waitress was lovely though, and she gets 5 stars. The barmaid gets a big 0.
Overall, a solid experience - I'd come here again if in the neighborhood, but I'm not sure I'd make a special trip. I had a special of the day bean soup to start, which was delicious, as was the bread and olive oil. The pastas were good, but not quite as flavorful as I'd hoped. Portion sizes were reasonable. Service was great. They were friendly and quick, and they followed up by text to let us know we'd forgotten our credit card.
I went for dinner the first time with my friends / co-workers on a Friday night. We were celebrating a birthday. The food tasted delicious and the restaurant was not a loud place. We sat indoors. They make the best penne bisanzio. I also enjoyed a dessert there which was a flourless chocolate cake topped with hazelnut ice cream and caramel sauce. The service was good and they did not take too long. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to have good Italian food. I’m looking forward to going back there again soon and bringing my boyfriend to try this place.
Pappardella is the restaurant where I proposed to my wife 31 years ago and also had our wedding rehearsal dinner. We have not been there in many years since leaving the city. I thought it would be fun to go there in celebration of our 30th anniversary! It was wonderful and it’s amazing they are still keeping the same high standard of great Italian food! We will be going back soon! Bravo to everyone at Pappardella!
I have dined at this establishment for the past 20 years- Always adored it until now -the food was utterly disappointing. Caesar salad was a small pile of stale Romain lettuce drowning in dressing- Their special Buccatuni pasta with pesto asparagus utterly bland - watery and overdone -No fresh Parmesan cheese ever offered for either one of our dishes. I have to assume new management has commandeered this once wonderful upper Westside Café l..
I was very interested in dining here because I had read good reviews of Pappardella and it was close to the off-Broadway production we were going to see. I was disappointed in the food, however, and it was definitely not worth the prices that we paid. We both got salads and pasta entrees. None seemed very fresh or "homemade", just OK. I was also surprised to see that there were no special pre-theater or happy hour offerings on an early Tuesday evening. This might explain why the restaurant was basically empty. With so many other dining options in the area, I would not recommend.
Coming from someone who is Italian, and has Celiac, this is a find. Love that they have so many gluten free options on their menu. I ended up having the chicken parm because I have not had it in years, and it was yummy. Loved their dessert options as well. I will definitely be going back!
We had a lovely dinner at Pappardella last Friday night. Very carefully prepared food. Really imaginative and tasty. The vibe in the room was very Upper West Side --- low key and casual. The service was excellent - friendly and attentive. We're taking a bunch of our out of town relatives there next month for a special occassion.
Better than average neighborhood Italian, a reliable standby for decades. Solid wine list, if unspectacular, highlighting Italy's regions. A large assortment of starters accompanies a variety of pastas, with pappardelle and mushrooms and gnocchi with pesto standouts. Specials change daily I all categories, including wines by the glass, all listed on a daily menu insert.
We selected Pappardella for its location within walking distance from the Beacon Hotel. We were very happy with the choice. We met friends for lunch and found the service to be very welcoming and the food very good. We would definitely return the next time we are in the area.
