Excellently executed staples of the New York Italian restaurant scene, plus some imaginative daily surprises (this time, a pork chop Milanese that was perfect) and reasonable prices. The wine list is very good (there is even a primitivo by the glass) and the service is cheerful and professional. The only drawback: it attracts groups of celebrants (tables of 6 or 8 seem common), and they can get loud, despite the high ceiling.
Always a pleasure dining at this restaurant. Its walking distance for us a BIG plus in the winter. The pasta is easily in the Top 10 of NY restaurant. Great wine list and the stafff helps you if you are not the familiar or if you are torn between should I go with this bottle or another.
Busy time of year. Everyone very busy. Different vibe in restaurant, like we walked in right after an argument or something. Don't think it was an over-all vibe, just that night.
Just an overall great spot for good Italian food. And the staff is sooo pleasant and nice.
Great Upper Westside neighborhood place. Pasta, pizzas and entrees are very good. Cozy and atmosphere..
Hadn't been to Pappardella in a couple of years; decided to give it a try, as I remember their pasta being fantastic! I was very disappointed in the service this time around. We arrived on time, and our table was available but there were no chairs at the table. We were left waiting at the front for several minutes while they dug outdoor chairs out of somewhere, which were extremely cold when we sat down. No one came to take our drink order for several more minutes, while a couple who was sat after us (at a table with proper chairs...) was served drinks. Unfortunately the pasta wasn't as great as remembered, either. With all the amazing Italian restaurants in the neighborhood, we probably won't be returning.
Wonderful neighborhood restaurant. My wife loved her veal marsala and I thought that the spaghetti and meatballs were terrific.
Pappardella is one of our favorite restaurants. We feel very much at home when we come here. We enjoy recognizing and being recognized by servers who have taken care of us for many years. The food is consistently good. It is a lovely place to be.
Always a great experience dining here. The food is always excellent and the service is warm and attentive.
Had a very nice meal. Nice friendly, relaxed vibe. Excellent seafood, squid black linguini pasta. Great tricolore salad and desserts. Very fun.
We went here for dinner before Beacon Theater show....only a block away and I would recommend if you are going to a show. Cheese patter and Tri-Colore salad were delicious. We both had a pasta we liked and chianti by the glass was nice accompaniment. We will definitely be back when we go to Beacon again to try some of the other menu items. Service was excellent......I tipped over beer and glass broke on table.......they quickly and nicely moved us to a new table and replaced my beer!!
Excellent food and menu with a variety of choices. Service was attentive and pleasant. Nice ambience. Certainly warrants a repeat visit.
Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Food was delicious. We were seated immediately upon arriving timely for our reservation (5:30 on a Saturday evening), and we were able to exit well in time for a show at the Beacon.
Friendly and accommodating staff. Very disappointed in food.
Thanksgiving!
Great experience. Owner/Manager greeted us at the door and couldn’t have been friendlier. Wait staff worked as a team and were responsive, friendly and incredibly accommodating. Food was outstanding. Highly recommend for a casual night out, date or business dinner.
Pappardella is
I love Pappardella. Great food and service. The staff is excellent. Highly recommended!
The food was decent. Moderate portions. Wine by the glass was limited. Service was mediocre at best, somewhat delayed, no recommendations. The busser was more personable than the waiter. The bread that was brought out after ordering was cold and crusty. Dessert was the best part of our meal including a flourless chocolate cake and cappuccino.
Comfortable neighbor hood Italian restaurant with tasty food and good service.
First time eating at this restaurant and we thoroughly enjoyed the entire meal. We would definitely go again.
Papardella's surpassed our expectations . The food was delicious and the service was superb. We enjoyed our meal and look forward to dining there again in the near future.
Great flavours, atmosphere and service. The only thing they could do better at is their bathrooms need to be tended to more often. Not the tidiest.
We dine here at least once every time we are in NYC. The food is delicious, ambiance inviting, and service the perfect balance of professional and cordial.
Great food and service. We will be back on our next visit to NYC.
Great little neighborhood spot. Food was adequate. Certainly not amazing. But good
Service and the food were both excellent. We went there before a concert at the Beacon and we were so happy with our choice.
Delicious food , good service and my favorite desert. Zablione❤️
We will definitely go back.
Excellent food, service was efficient and responsive, sound very loud . Very crowded for early evening reservation. As always we really enjoy eating here
Great place to eat in NYC
We loved our evening here. I've been a patron there for 30 years on and off, and now I work in the area. Pappardella is a holdout from an earlier (and wonderful) Bohemian UWS period. The owners still value keeping the old B&W photos from Italy to the warm woods and low lights, it's a pleasure to be served there in this throwback, genuine earlier-era restaurant. The food was quite good during our most recent excursion, but I'll add that one also pays for it. The branzino at 30 bucks and my friend's salmon likewise a $30 entree were overpriced by $5. per. (Sorry, Pappardella, no insult to the food, which was very good.) I also know the wine menu could easily have an optional glass of bold red for 10 or 11 dollars, and it ought to. The cab is 14 and the Malbec the same: hint, there are any number of excellent 15 bottles at 67th Street within walking distance that the owners/managers could have on hand to offer a less costly glass of big red wine. All that said, I really enjoyed the overall experience, would eat there again and will.
Amazing moment with my daughter. Fresh pasta (I guess). The pizza was quite small but tasty so the most important for me.
Love love love the full gluten free menu! My husband and I went for our anniversary and, though the space is small, the service is so well organized, and the setting still felt intimate despite the relatively tight tables. We enjoyed the sangria, gluten free garlic bread, salmon, gluten free pasta, cannolis, and flourlesa chocolate cake.
This is by far the best gluten free chicken parmigiana I have ever had. Every time I am in town I go here now.
Lovely restaurant, very crowded on an early Saturday evening. Service was very good, server was pleasant, professional and welcoming, but not overly friendly in an annoying way. Food was very tasty, freshly prepared so it didn't come out too quickly. Although the place was packed and more people kept coming in, they did not rush us in the slightest. Would definitely go back again
I recall eating at this restaurant in the past, I do not know if it always had indifferent service. Our waitress lacked personality altogether. She took the drink order after we had been sitting at the table for a good 10 minutes. After the drinks arrived she totally disappeared, we had to call on the manager to take our food order, The food was uneventful.
Perfect date night spot in a non-crowded area. Food was superb. My partner and I were going to a show at the Beacon and--I cannot emphasize this enough--the pre-show ambiance and walk were ideal. (Going to a show afterward is a nice, optional bonus; Pappardella is an excellent evening in and of itself.)
We had just come from my father’s funeral. We had made two separate reservations for 7 under two different names, online, and on the 2nd one we asked to combine them, for a party of 14. As I walked in, they welcomed us warmly and led us to a table that was already setup for 14. We had 15, so they were prepared for that possibility and added another table easily. With such a big group, this could’ve been chaos, but they were so lovely and excellent. The service was a little bit slow at first, but we were also an enormous group, arriving right at 1:30, when we were supposed to arrive at 2pm (per our reservation). Once we got our drinks, the food came out relatively quickly, which was fantastic. I couldn’t believe that they were able to time 14 plates to come out all at the same time. Impressive! I would highly recommend this spot. It was just the right vibe for our group.
Great Italian. Extensive menu. The meals are well made and some of them have a nice twist. For example: sweet & spicy sausage, sweet green peas, sage & vodka sauce - it was very good.
As usual, restaurant was very loud and they supplement this with music! Why? It was not crowded but service was very slow. I used to enjoy this restaurant but the noise and service are a problem. Pasta dish was not hot but it took so long to get it that we did not send it back. Quite disappointing.
