Menu and service reflect the warmth and attention of the old world, as well as the diversity and techniques of today. we feature homemade pasta, artisanal pizza & other great Italian staples, like chicken parmagian, grilled branzino & scrumptious tiramisu.
A beautiful outdoor terrace makes for great people watching in the warm months. Pappardella is conveniently located near the beacon theater, the museum of natural history & Central Park offering lunch & dinner pre fix, brunch & a busy happy hour.
The food was subpar, especially at this price point. We were disappointed.
Consistently good classic Italian food!
We took my 9 yr. old granddaughter for her birthday and the staff could not have been more accommodating or friendly. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. A definite do over
The service was very good, the drinks moderately priced and not small and the food was delicious. The gnocchi with pesto sauce was delicious. Would definitely recommend to my friends. If I ever go to another show at the Beacon I would definitely eat here first!
Our reservation was for 4:45 pm on a Friday evening. It was before a show at the Beacon Theater. We arrived and they didn't seem ready for us. The tables were set but no one was at the front desk, no waiters, no bartender. A man (presumably the manager) seated us but it took a long time for the bus person to come over. No one came for our order until we flagged down the busboy at 5:15 and asked for a bottle of wine. He had no idea what we wanted. Finally, at about 5:25, we flagged him again and told him we wanted to order. He sent a waitress over and she was efficient but rushed. She had very little time for us. The food was tasty but the portions were all over the place. The eggplant parmigiana was delicious but a small portion with a very small amount of pasta and hardly any sauce on that. My friend ordered chicken parmigiana and hers was a very large portion, with a ton of spaghetti! The linguini with clam sauce was skimpy as well, especially on the pasta. It was adequate but not one of my favorite places, for sure
Food was very good a little tight in the seating if your more than 2 but overall a very pleasant night out.
Our waiter Jose was efficient and helpful with our selections. Food was creative and delicious. Meal pacing was spot on.
Asparagus pesto & sauteed calamari to start. Lobster ravs (chunks of lobster meat) & veal scalopine marsala mains. Delicious tiramisu to finish.
Friendly and efficient staff. Love the traditional Italian bistro ambience.
We WILL be back when on Upper West Side for museums, etc.
Note: was a frigid night in NYC and the double doors helped keep the room warm.
We had a lovely dinner with old friends. We hadn't seen them for awhile and spent a long time catching up. We had a leisurely dinner; our waiter understood we were in no hurry and he acted accordingly. Everyone enjoyed the food and we appreciated that we were not rushed. Our friends drove in from Connecticut and said they would do it again. We live downtown, on the east side, but we plan to return.
I enjoyed my pre theatre meal at Parraprdelle, they took my incorrect order back and replaced it in due course.
Outstanding! Try the mushroom pizza!
My boyfriend and I chose Papparadella because it was conveniently located for the rest of our plans that evening. We made a reservation just in case--it was a Thursday evening. We were impressed by the ambiance as soon as we sat down! Cozy and comfortably lit. The service was fantastic and we enjoyed every ounce of the food. The sangria was delicious, the bruschetta was authentic and the pasta was fresh! The dessert portions are small, but that's to be expected at a $ Italian restaurant. They were delicious anyway! Overall would recommend and plan to return.
I love coming here before a visit to Lincoln Center. It's only 10 blocks and well worth the walk. Food is always delicious and prices are better than restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Background music was a little too eclectic. I wish they would go back to playing only Italian music.
very good service and excellent Italian cuisine, manager checked with us twice to b-sure all was satisfactory
The food was delicious . The service was slow for a non busy weekday at lunchtime.
Not impressed. Our food was fine. Not bad. Not mind blowing. But the service was poor. We waited 40 mins before even getting our bread, despite requesting it. Food service was slow. Had to ask for the check at the same time the food came out in order to make it to the theatre on time. Allotted 90 mins for dinner and it wasn’t enough. Bad form for NYC.
I've been dining at Pappardella since the mid-1990's. Excellent food and wine, and as always, a warm and friendly staff.
Great cuisine, ambiance and service....a really professional operation.
We went for New Year’s eve and had a fantastic meal. Everything was just right. From dishes of veal parm and chicken parm to seafood pasta and another amazing shrimp dish, everyone was happy and satisfied. Appetizers were equally as good. This was the perfect year-end dinner with everything cooked to perfection.
Service was awful. Don't go if you have to be somewhere after...
Awesome! Lunch was an awesome extended length and we never felt rushed. Love this restaurant.
Excellent doesn’t begin to describe our dinner here. We had 4 dift items and each one was fantastic. The entire staff was beyond gracious.
My daughter is gluten-free and they have a gluten-free menu as well as a regular menu, so we were all able to find things we liked. The gluten-free garlic bread was a hit! Overall, food was very good, however the service left a lot to be desired. The waiter never came to offer drinks. By the time he came to our table, we had been sitting for quite a while and he just took our order. He forgot to bring one appetizer, my wine, and my daughter's drink which we had to ask for when our meal arrived. He never checked in how our food was. At the end of the meal, they just brought over the check and didn't even ask us if we wanted dessert or coffee-- which we did, but by that time I was so annoyed I told my husband to just pay and let's go elsewhere for dessert and coffee. I thought the food was good, but given my experience, I'm not sure I'd go there again given other options in the neighborhood and NYC in general.
We went to Pappardella for their Christmas day prix fixe menu and it was amazing! Every course was prepared with great care and the wine parings were perfect. Highly recommend this local gem of a restaurant.
The food is very fine. The portions are generous. My rack of lamb appeared to be a double portion. I took half home.
The absolute best Italian in NYC! I have traveled the world and lived in Naples, Italy, and can say without a doubt that the food at Pappardella is unparalleled! Will dine there every time!
Truly delicious every time-New Year's Resolution is to go there more often!
Great food and great service! We ate our Christmas dinner here and it all fabulous!!! We also liked that we weren't limited to the special Christmas menu and could also order a la carte!
Attentive and helpful wait staff made this a pleasant Christmas Eve dinner. They ran out of spaghetti but were very kind to allow us to choose another pasta accompaniment to our veal and chicken parmigiana. Excellent food. Hostess was not very friendly and greeted us with crossed arms. Otherwise all the other staff were welcoming and filled with Christmas cheer.
While the food and service were excellent, the appetizer and both entrees were billed at $2 higher than the price listed on the menu. Restaurants seem more and more to be playing this game, with $1 upcharges becoming somewhat common; this, however, is the first $2 upcharge that I have encountered. Restaurants that do this are removed from my go-to list on general principles. If they want to raise prices, let them change the menu!
Cute restaurant and ambience for Christmas
I had special dinner tonight. Gnocchi was amazing. The duo Steak was delicious along with sweet potato. Flourless chochalate cake with hazelnut ice cream was one of the best I’ve had.
Very pleasantly surprised. Good portions. First time here
Will definitely go back
This place never fails to deliver! Food is always superb ! High quality, presentation is always great (it can use small decor on plates but still clean all around the trims of a plate) never sloppy so far, slightly loud the acoustic in this place carries and it’s very hard to hear your company. Service is always excellent w David the server but everyone else it’s okay. They don’t know the menu well and stummble as they tell you the specials , not very attentive to the table it nooone is perfect. Overall is excellent place for any occasion.
Well worth it!
The service was slow. Then they practically threw the food at us. Hard to blow chicken parm. Totally tasteless.
Good neighborhood place
very relaxed dinner service. we were allowed to go at our own pace. Never rushed. The server was chill. Would go every weekend if i could.
We made a reservation for a Saturday in December over a month in advance because we had tickets to a show at the Beacon. We arrived on time and had to wait 30 minutes for our table. The manager was nice and gave us free wine but we were rushed for our show and skipped dessert and coffee. We also had to sit by the door and it was cold as people went in and out of the restaurant. I understand sometimes people don't leave their table and that is a difficult situation but I would think on the Saturday before Christmas with a show at the Beacon they would have had a better plan to deal with this.
Awesome restaurant! My whole family loved the food and the service was excellent!!! Wish we lived closer to the restaurant because we would eat there often.
Upper west side
Open late with reservations till 10:30
Nice and warm
PS really good food , large portions
