Papilles Ratings and Reviews
The food is tasty, but it's not the giant bargain it's billed as. Portions are not overly generous, and there's nothing luxurious about the food. For example, the bavette steak (essentially flank steak) consists of about eight thin slices of meat served on an otherwise empty plate. Even with a side of haricots vert or pureed potatoes, this is no great bargain at $24 if ordered a la carte. Don't get me wrong--it tastes good and I cleaned my plate. But the $35 charged for the three-course prix fixe meal is just about right for what you get.
Papilles is more than a neighborhood treasure. It is well worth the drive from locations further away. The food is creative and delicious. Claudio, the new chef, creates terrific dishes. The service is personal and gracious. Manny, the manager, is charming and helpful. Jose is kind and attentive. Not only a fantastic place to dine, but also a great value. There are many good reasonably priced wine selections displayed along the back wall.
Fourth time dining at Papilles. This time we went with our friends who are actually French. They loved it. Reminded them of a bistro in Paris! Each time we've been there we've had a different meal, which is the style of the restaurant , and each time it was wonderful. Check their website for that evening's menu, or better yet just go and be pleasantly surprised. The service is also great and very attentive and they have a great wine list. Highly recommended!
Really liked this place. The service person was attentive, friendly and very helpful with wine selection. The food was good and just the right portions. Not too much nor not enough.
Their spice wall could use a little re-decorating but this will not stop me from going back.
Overall it's a little gem.
You'll find it in a small strip mall but they do their best to change the environment with some herbs Drying on the wall and Tin ceiling. The kitchen is open and you can watch the chefs cook with care the food is fabulous. For example the potato soup and a soft-cooked egg yolk no white perfectly made. The one you're fake wood Shimmer and Shake on top of the shashito peppers.
This restaurant is a classic case of "you cannot judge a book by its cover". It is located in a rather rundown looking strip mall but upon opening the door, you enter something special. It is small and rather rustic looking, but the service and food are fantastic! The food is almost too pretty to eat but it was delicious! I can't think of anything negative to say. I definitely plan to return, with friends or family, or both! Amazing food and truly artistic presentation. Loved, loved, loved it!!
The Portuguese wine pairing was well executed; delicious wine and great set menu. Every course was matched beautifully with the wines and exquisitely served on handsome tableware! Second time here and will definitely be back. Most of what they make is naturally gluten free, which was a real blessing.
Love this hidden little restaurant. The food is creative, delicious and excellent. I love the price and the quality of food served. The bread and butter alone makes me happy. The service there is always excellent and I hope everything stays that way. I see myself coming back to this little Gem often.
Fine but for the service. Ordered the add-on specials; after the first course was served, we were told the specials were gone (by 7:45 pm). Then we watched as "friends" of the server were seated... and served the specials. Make sure you're in the cool kid clique if you want to enjoy the full experience, I guess.
My favorite neighborhood spot....never disappoints. I love the changing menu and the fresh ingredients. I love that you sort of feel like you're eating at someone's house instead of a restaurant. It's not for everyone but if you want a unique and delicious dining experience in a small setting, you should try it.
