I think they changed chefs since the last time we were here. It shows. The first time we were here. Everything was great. This time around nothing stood out. Food was mediocre at best. Too bad. We really liked this spot.
Loved this place, such a gem find in an unassuming strip mall. Food all had balanced developed flavors, pacing for dinner was relaxed and service was thoughtful. Will be back!!
The food and wine and service were all excellent, but the noise level is very loud. It's a small place with tables very close together and I still had to shout to my friend sitting across from me at a two person table.
Awesome meal! One of the true food gems of LA. Great wine list and excellent upscale bistro fare. Every plate was fantastic.
The food is tasty, but it's not the giant bargain it's billed as. Portions are not overly generous, and there's nothing luxurious about the food. For example, the bavette steak (essentially flank steak) consists of about eight thin slices of meat served on an otherwise empty plate. Even with a side of haricots vert or pureed potatoes, this is no great bargain at $24 if ordered a la carte. Don't get me wrong--it tastes good and I cleaned my plate. But the $35 charged for the three-course prix fixe meal is just about right for what you get.
Papilles is more than a neighborhood treasure. It is well worth the drive from locations further away. The food is creative and delicious. Claudio, the new chef, creates terrific dishes. The service is personal and gracious. Manny, the manager, is charming and helpful. Jose is kind and attentive. Not only a fantastic place to dine, but also a great value. There are many good reasonably priced wine selections displayed along the back wall.
Fourth time dining at Papilles. This time we went with our friends who are actually French. They loved it. Reminded them of a bistro in Paris! Each time we've been there we've had a different meal, which is the style of the restaurant , and each time it was wonderful. Check their website for that evening's menu, or better yet just go and be pleasantly surprised. The service is also great and very attentive and they have a great wine list. Highly recommended!
The food was exquisite, the sommelier recommended a delicious wine.
Enjoyable, neighborhood French bistro. We've been many times. We love this restaurant
It's a great little restaurant, nicely hidden away. The food is always fantastic. The staff knows the food and the drinks; their answers are very in-depth and knowledgeable.
Drove from Orange County to eat here and it was definitely worth the drive. We will be back !!!
this is one of our favorite restaurants in LA. Reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. We love the staff and the relaxed service and atmosphere.
Great prix fixe options and appetizers. Creative, flavorful. Salmon was one of the best that I have eaten
Really liked this place. The service person was attentive, friendly and very helpful with wine selection. The food was good and just the right portions. Not too much nor not enough.
Their spice wall could use a little re-decorating but this will not stop me from going back.
Overall it's a little gem.
Very good food and value. Not for everyone but a delight for foodies
Excellent as always. Duck was amazing and the amuse certainly amused our bouches! Only demerit is that the corkage fee is a little high.
You'll find it in a small strip mall but they do their best to change the environment with some herbs Drying on the wall and Tin ceiling. The kitchen is open and you can watch the chefs cook with care the food is fabulous. For example the potato soup and a soft-cooked egg yolk no white perfectly made. The one you're fake wood Shimmer and Shake on top of the shashito peppers.
Quaint restaurant hidden in a strip mall. Locals love it. Great service. Delicious food. A gem.
This restaurant is a classic case of "you cannot judge a book by its cover". It is located in a rather rundown looking strip mall but upon opening the door, you enter something special. It is small and rather rustic looking, but the service and food are fantastic! The food is almost too pretty to eat but it was delicious! I can't think of anything negative to say. I definitely plan to return, with friends or family, or both! Amazing food and truly artistic presentation. Loved, loved, loved it!!
Great food and excellent service. We ate here before a show at the pantages. Easy walk down to the theatre. Don't let strip mall location keep you away
The Portuguese wine pairing was well executed; delicious wine and great set menu. Every course was matched beautifully with the wines and exquisitely served on handsome tableware! Second time here and will definitely be back. Most of what they make is naturally gluten free, which was a real blessing.
Papilles has interesting winemaker dinners every month or so. This was Portugal wine night.
Always excellent food Friendly service. Easy parking out front.
Superb meal for casual business dinner. The food was absolutely beautiful, and as delicious as it looked. Run, don't walk, to a memorable meal here.
Naomi, or waitress, was perfect: friendly and helpful.Food was very good. Tasty, light sauces.
All restaurants should be like Papilles. A small menu with really good and thoughtfully prepared food, and an incredibly nice and efficient staff. I loved everything about the experience!
Wonderful food. French but not heavy at all - beautiful presentation. Nice portions! Quality ingredients and great wait staff! Love this place!
A wonderful gem. The food was outstanding. Great for a special occasion.
Delish food, impeccable service, insanely good baguette and butter.
Always delicious and attention to detail. Carefully disguised in a strip mall but a reward for people interested in food quality and an intimate setting. Not corporate or cookie cutter.
Legit french bistro food. The bread was outstanding and a good start. Cozy small intimate. Choices a tad limited, as I'd of liked to see more options , especially meat. Still, all good and Ill return
We go to Papilles often; it's our favorite restaurant in the neighborhood.
Always fabulous, Best Buy in town, Jidori chicken out of this world, so moist and flavorful!
Wonderful, great food, service and ambiance.
In my opinion, Papilles is simply one of the best restaurants in L.A. Unpretentious and sophisticated, a very rare combination. Friendly service, great selection of European wines, terrific food! Papilles is a must. Don't miss it!
Love this hidden little restaurant. The food is creative, delicious and excellent. I love the price and the quality of food served. The bread and butter alone makes me happy. The service there is always excellent and I hope everything stays that way. I see myself coming back to this little Gem often.
Fine but for the service. Ordered the add-on specials; after the first course was served, we were told the specials were gone (by 7:45 pm). Then we watched as "friends" of the server were seated... and served the specials. Make sure you're in the cool kid clique if you want to enjoy the full experience, I guess.
Lovely, relaxing, friendly neighborhood bistro. I should come here more often!
pork loin flavorful, salad delish, potatoes with bacon and creme , sorbet yum
My favorite neighborhood spot....never disappoints. I love the changing menu and the fresh ingredients. I love that you sort of feel like you're eating at someone's house instead of a restaurant. It's not for everyone but if you want a unique and delicious dining experience in a small setting, you should try it.
Still can't they couldn't serve a cup of hot water!!! But it was very good and will got back and byo hoteater
