Service was awful and food was not good
We have been coming to Pano's for almost 20 years and were excited that it was finally reopened. The food was not good at all. I got the Mediterranean plate and there was nothing Mediterranean about it. It was listed as Gluten Free and the waiter said " you just wont get the bread". The plate had a half a jar of pickled artichoke hearts, some dry lettuce and no dressing , hummus that was way to thick and some other jarred pickled concoction. In a word it was horrible. My friends were not happy with their dishes either. All in all it was very disappointing and we wont be back.
A few of the menu items were not available. 6 of us were seated at a booth much more suited for 4 people. Food was okay but we probably won’t return.
Food was average. It was uncomfortably hot inside. Doors were open which let in flies.
Very slow service. Not better since renovation was done
Totally new decor which at first seems bright and open. But it turns out the brightness lends itself more to a cafeteria diner than the cozy restaurant it used to be. And my absolutely favorite dish - the beef gyro - was completely ruined! It's supposed to be a rolled pita smothered with the yummy tsaziki sauce. Instead it was flat with about a tsp of the sauce with some of the beef and a few tomatoes and lettuce. Uh, no lettuce on a gyro. When I asked for more sauce, the server brought a teeny little plastic cup. The calamari was soggy. The meals also took forever. Not the Panos we knew and loved.
The portions were ENORMOUS! I had the Swiss and egg omelette with marbled rye and home fries and it was delicious. Loved all the new decor and how bright it is inside. The new bar and open kitchen concept really bring Pano’s to the new century without losing what it does best-great food. The staff were attentive and quick and we were in and out for breakfast in under an hour and half and I had a 3 year old toddler in tow! Can’t say enough about the facelift on this place and love that it is still great food and an awesome vibe. Can’t wait to return to try the crab cakes Benedict!
Waited over an hour for our food; some came cold; some was missing items that came 10 minutes later; manager came over and listened; nothing was done to make anyone feel better;
We were there for over 2 hours, it took me 40 minutes to get my drink and an hour and a half to get food. The waitress we had had an excuse for everything; first the coffee wasn’t brewed, then the food was cooked wrong and had to be redone, then the computer wasn’t working so we had to wait to get a paper check. All of the other people in the restaurant were getting their food way quicker and people who arrived significantly later than us left before we did... food tasted amazing and wasn’t expensive and the restaurant itself is beautiful. Just bad service.
We had to wait 30 mins even with a reservation and then was told the kitchen was backed up and we had to wait another 30 minutes to even order. Service was slow and everyone who worked there seemed lost. The remodel is beautiful and the food was good but service was lacking
Waited an hour and a half for food with rude service.
Unfortunately I cant give a full review on our meal because after being there two hours, we never got to eat. Our drinks took almost 35 minutes, our food (soulvaki breakfast and 1 "the fix", very easy choices) over an hour. When it came out to us, stone cold. The server took it back, we waited another 10 minutes and my eggs came back raw and runny. By this time, we didnt have time to wait anymore, so we decided to leave. Our bill was comped, thankfully since it was only drinks. I have never left a negative review before, and I'm sad that it is for this restaurant because Panos used to be one of my favorites under previous ownership. I ignored the negative service reviews I saw online since its reopening because I always like to form my own opinion. Unfortunately in this case, the negative reviews were right.
Although the new Pano's interior is beautiful, it is VERY noisy in there. We visited on Sat July 28 at 10:30 am for breakfast. We could barely hear each other at our four-person table. Food was subpar. Breakfast was luke warm and hash browns are the frozen variety with no additional flavor. My father, who eats EVERYTHING, only finished half his breakfast. We ordered our meal well before the table next to us, and they received their food first (also a 4-person table). Very disappointing.
There was a mix up with the steak special and they brought me the sandwich instead of the meal. My friend was finished eating before I got my meal but being in the business, I know these things happen. Our server Carrie was really good and I felt bad for her! It wasn’t a big deal, just a glitch in the entry in the computer. We got a free drink apiece and we enjoyed ourselves anyway. We’ll be back!
We didn’t stay to eat. The hostess showed us to a table and we asked for a different one and she said she couldn’t because they were being held for parties of three or four. The restaurant was about 75% empty. We felt it unreasonable not to give us another table so we left. Another thing we don’t like is you have to have a reservation and can’t just drop in. The staff was ok, just enforcing bad policies. We won’t be back until they change, too bad for them because we use to go there once and sometimes twice a week.
I would NEVER go to this restaurant again. Not the same service or quality.
I had the saganaki breakfast which was delicious. Since I can’t have gluten, they were accommodating and allowed me to substitute hash browns for the toast to make the meal gluten free.
First time back since the remodel. Looking forward to next time.
My firends and I brunch every Sunday and we have very few expectations when we go out, and Pano’s didn’t meet any of them. Service was terrible. Tables sat after us were halfway through their meal before we ever received ours. Our server was not attentive, at all. She never introduced herself, but she had unkept red hair. Took an hour and 12 minutes for our food to come out. Took just as long for a refill on coffee. My friends mimosa tasted spoiled. Me and my boyfriend both ordered over easy eggs that came out fried; asked the manager to have them redone, he literally brought back what I sent back 10 seconds later. My friends omelette was cold. Asked for the check after sitting in front of half eaten food for 20 minutes. I explained to the server what went wrong and she wasn’t even the slightest bit apologetic, she looked sad, but never apologized. Spoke with the manager who had a very blasé response to everything. I personally enjoyed watching our server sprint across the room several times (her section had maybe 6 tables of 4 people or less, from what I saw), her dramatic, overwhelming behavior was embarrassing and unprofessional. It was our first visit after the remodel, and I can promise you we won’t be back.
We visited Pano’s for breakfast on Sunday, 7/22/18, after it had recently been renovated and acquired by new ownership. The renovations were very nice, seemed to have more space for seating than before. The food was good, very generous portions. The service, however, needs improvement. Unfortunately it took over an hour to be served, our server was not very attentive to our table, we had to send back our coffee because it was cold and we were never offered any refills on our coffee. I hope that the service improves, because Pano’s has long been a part of the unique Elmwood Avenue neighborhood and is known as a favorite local restaurant where people come to relax and enjoy a good meal.
This was my first time since the renovation and the physical structure is beautiful. The service was mediocre. For example, we waited a long time to be recognized and we were not served the right amount of water. My friend's order ended up on her husband's plate so asked for an additional plate. The wait service did not respond promptly and my friend had to get her own plate. The wait staff was very slow and we had to wait a long time to get the check. The women's bathroom was out of soap and the dryer was not working. No paper towels were provided.
Amazing service but the food was terrible. I loved the remodel but maybe they should ditch the Panos name and get a whole new menu. Sad to see because I love the old Panos and would love to see this Buffalo staple stay. It was empty on a Saturday night. Time to scratch the menu and maybe even a new name and completely rebrand. Keep the waitresses they were great 👍🏻
It took a little getting used to after the old Pano's.
I'd give it 4 stars
Unfortunately the food was poor. Overcooked, tastless and well below par.
Nothing is ever as good as it used to be — and this is the case with Pano’s. We were frequent diners at the old Pano’s and decided to give it a try under new ownership. I’ll start with the good: our server was very attentive, personable, and gave great service. The coconut shrimp appetizer was delicious (though an odd order for Greek restaurant, I know) and I’m glad we ordered it as a starter. Now the not so great: We were initially seated tucked away in the bar area right next to the bathroom. There were tons of open tables; the restaurant was pretty empty. We asked to move to one of the larger tables in the main dining area (it was a gorgeous Saturday and it’s nice to be near a window), and the hostess told us she couldn’t move us because there was another party of 5 coming in at the same time with reservations that specifically requested that exact table...we sat back down at the booth and were eventually moved to that table. I kept an eye on the door during our entire time at the restaurant and at no point did a group larger than 4 walk into the restaurant asking for the table. It was just kind of annoying. Back to the food. Our entrees were okay — the souvlakis lacked something. It was a basic greek salad with steak.
I don’t know if I’m just used to the old Pano’s experience, but I really wanted to love the new. I have so many memories at Pano’s and I guess they will stay old memories because I don’t think we will be making new ones here.
We waited an hour and 18 mins for breakfast food. So sad 😞 invited friends from Long Island to buffalo to show them amazing places and we were so disappointed in service, food, and timing
Service was slow and uneven. Not everyone’s food came out of the kitchen at the same time. French Fries served with then entree were delivered to the table cold and were sent back to the kitchen. The returned fries were re delivered after the meal was concluded.
Service was extremely slow. Waiter was rude. This feedback was given to the waiter, and the manager on call.
Service was slow, prices on bill were higher than printed in the menu, prices a bit high for what you get, (at least for dinner). The food was good. Atmosphere - Very bright and modern feel. When we got there for dinner we asked for a table by the front windows. There were only 2 of us and a few empty tables by the windows. We were told they were not available as there were pending reservations, however, the tables were available the entire time we were there. We asked for a drink menu as one was not provided up front and then didn't see the waiter for at least 10 minutes ...I heard him taking an order for a table seated well after us. At the end I mentioned the error on the bill but as it was only a couple dollars and they already ran my card I didn't ask for an adjustment. The manager was very apologetic and stated that they have only been open for 2 weeks and are working out the kinks. I understand, but it was not a great experience.
It took us over an hour and forty five minutes to get our food even though we were ten minutes early for our reservation there was only two waitresses and the service was horrible
We made a reservation and when we got there we were told it would still be a bit. We went and got a drink at the bar, it took about ten minutes for the bartender to even acknowledge us sitting there. Almost everyone around us was complaining and saying they weren’t paying for certain dishes because they weren’t happy with the service. So my friend and I just paid for our drink and left. By that time it was 30 minutes after our reservation time. For some reason they weren’t seating people outside even though it was a beautiful day. We don’t get many of those in buffalo so we were disappointed all around. They took my favorite dish off the menu (lobster Mac and cheese) so I’m not even sure if I want to go back.
We used to frequent Panos before it was under new ownership and never had a complaint. We tried it for brunch when it reopened, and the food was terrible, plain and unseasoned, over cooked omelette, and just generally bad
The place was half empty however sat 45 minutes without being asked if needed drinks, bloody Mary’s were served without vodka in them. The food took a long time to come out and was greasy, veggies under cooked and too much cheese. The decor is beautiful however having a glass kitchen when you have a filthy kitchen is not a good idea.
I know they just reopened so maybe they're having growing pains but kitchen was super slow and portions/quality isn't what it used to be
Food was ok, The service was bad! Our waitress wasn’t to good. We ordered apps, the salads that came with dinner came out before the our appetizers did, and when we mentioned we ordered apps her reply was she forgot. That never happened when the old pans was in charge. Too bad
We had reservations at 7:15pm, ordered 2 drinks that was sent back because they were awful. Waitress was nice and very apologetic due to bad drinks and we did not get our food until 8:45pm. She did take 10% off bill. Food was bland I ordered a fish fry dinner fries were cold, my sister ordered a open chicken solvolki that was literally 2 small pieces of grilled chicken strips with a table spoon of feta cheese.... Not worth the wait for our food this Use to be one of our favorite spots.
Sat for 1 hour waiting to have drink and app order taken- after waitress aware we were ready, another 1/2 hour to come back and take entre order. Very disorganized!! She looked over at us frequently but ordered raised hands to get her attention! When matre’d intervened she complained bitterly that she had too many tables.
Food portion tiny- apps burned, dinner dry and over cooked. Not a good experience!!!
We had a reservation. We were asked to wait (8 minutes while they got “our table ready” in a restaurant that was mostly empty. Another couple came in, waited a few minutes then left. Though there were two people at the front they really did not engage with the customers.
Then we were shown to our table and met our waitress who seemed just a little too eager to start us off with a $10 drink. But okay. drinks delivered. Food order taken. A few minutes later a different waitress came over and said she would be our waitress. Okay...? She returned 2 minutes later and asked which of us had ordered the chowder-none of us! We never saw her again. Then our food was delivered by two runners, all correct, right temperature, quite delicious. As the runner was returning to the kitchen I raised my hand to ask for a missing sauce. He looked over his shoulder, made eye contact then just walked away.
Service is not good. Strong house management needed at least until all the parts are running smoothly. We probably won’t be back though this was a favorite restaurant for decades.
It's my 5th time since they re open and I love it all!The fun music ,but the main thing is the freshness of the food now and it taste amazing! It feels like I am in another city or perhaps the New Buffalo😁💙
OMG!! Pano did it well, very well for so many years and the new owners did it very, very bad!! We saw two people walk out because no one approached them for 30 minutes, three other people complain that their bill was wrong, including us, a waiter who had no clue what he was doing, and a manager with a bad attitude! Avoid!! And the food wasn’t that great either...
