Panorama Ratings and Reviews
Terrific food and wine list and extremely attentive staff made this a superb evening for our group of 7. The focaccia with pesto was excellent and everyone was pleased with their meal choices which were creatively prepared and beautifully presented. We especially enjoyed the hens in the woods mushroom and the burrata appetizers as well as the scallops and lobster crepes entrees. We will be back!
The food was fantastic & the location was perfect for a night out in the Penn's Landing area. Dinner was part of a special that Penn's View Hotel ran for Cyber Monday. I probably would have chosen another spot to eat if not for the discount, so I am glad that it was included.
My husband and I each had a specialty cocktail, and they were lovely. The tuna carpaccio was everything I wanted it to be. Spouse had the new mushroom app. He said it wasn’t as good as he had hoped, but the main course braciole made up for it. I had a half-portion of the seafood crespelle for my main, and it was delicious. We each did a wine flight, always fun! Dessert was baba au rhum for him, and tiramisu for me. (I had wanted the profiteroli, but they weren’t ready yet, so they comped my dessert, which was very nice). Service seemed a bit slow for so early in the evening, and we were seated near a door that let in a draft every time it was opened. Those were our only complaints, but they were minor compared to the meal itself.
I hadn't been here in almost 15 years, but the place hadn't changed much (well, it had been renovated and the menu updated). Still incredibly good Italian food, paired with amazing wines. The flights of wine are organized by topic or by winery. One of the best places for wine tastings.
The wild boar ragu was among the best I've had in years. We started with Hen of the Woods mushrooms and would have been happy had that been the only thing on the menu.
The service was phenomenal -- we were there for a birthday celebration and the staff could not have been more attentive to us if they tried.
This place is a winner. My first dinner here was outstanding so I booked again for a business meal. My director travels the world and has eaten everywhere. Even he was impressed. The food is outstanding, the wait staff is professional and friendly. I've been here before and will do so again.
wine and food were marvelous. I cook and I'm critical so if I think its good-its good!!
beautiful blending of ingredients. Very creative.
only negative which can be fixed. Waiter needs a little more training.
My first course was onion soup-delicious-after I got up when I saw the waiter at another
table to remind him he didn't bring a soup spoon. I had to get up because I didnt want
the soup to get cold.
The Bracciola was the best my brother, visiting from Florida, had ever had. He just raved about it. We also had a wonderful red wine. It was a very nice evening.
Our waiter, Marcello, was so helpful and made all of us feel very much at home.
We will definitely be back.
The wine list is extraordinary and more wines are offered by the glass than any other restaurant. The flights of wine are particularly notable and let you sample five dufferent wines in one sitting. The main courses were unimaginative and not particularly well prepared. But the wine experience here is so wonderful that I highly recommend going for that and just ordering a starter and a pasta course. That’s what I intend to do from now on.
Really delicious food and great atmosphere. We were taking my parents out for their anniversary, and the restaurant gave us complimentary champagne which was such a nice gesture that made the night even more special! The wine flights are spectacular. The food is very high quality. Fantastic service. Will definitely be back!
Amazing selection of wines and a fantastic bartender whose recommendations were spot-on. The food was incredible as well, and I appreciated that they offered s a smaller portion of their pastas (more room for wine!). If I lived in Philly, I would be here every weekend.
The waiter was attentive and very knowledgable. He was a sommelier too, which was a huge plus, considering the myriad wines they offer. The food was excellent. The pesto is the best my parents and I have ever had. The flavors were complex and one didn't overpower the others.
Pasta was celebrated on Pasta Day! A magnificent mushroom appetizer with foraged fungi. Four perfect pastas from pungent pepper to delicate lobster crepe. You can count on the most authentic Italian pastas every day. Dreamy babas for dessert with lemon curd. (Panorama knows lemons well and serves the best Lemoncello in America.)
We were extremely disappointed in our evening at Panorama. We love going there. We were celebrating a 60th birthday. We were seated in the bar area, which was fine. Our waitress, Amy, was miserable. Maybe she was having a really bad night? In any event, we asked for a flight of wine and we ordered salads and she slammed the food down and walked off. she never came to ask us if we wanted anything else. We then finally got her attention and asked for angel hair pasta, she brought out what looked like whole wheat pasta with some kind of red sauce. no explanation of what happened to the angel hair, nothing. she just waked away. The food was good. We decided not to stay for dessert and go elsewhere. Very saddened, but we won't be making the long drive from Wayne, PA to Panorama again. it's not worth the drive, sorry to say.
Wine tastings are the big draw here, as there are roughly 20 different thematically structured sampling flights of 5 wines each, very suitable and entertaining instead of an aperitif. The menu is smallish, but competent. We found the atmosphere a little lacking, however, as other than the bar this is a fairly ordinary space. The addition of tablecloths would be a simple expedient, and overall would significantly elevate the tone of the dining area. I know there's a cost issue here, but I at least would prefer to have a few dollars tacked onto my evening's tab to pay for whatever wine spills I and my fellow diners might have.
We had a wonderful meal at Panorama last week. The wine cruvinet is crazy - 120 bottles available by the glass, all preserved in a tap system that keeps them fresh. Great choices and well selected flights. The food was wonderful. Presentation was beautiful. Panorama was recently remodeled and got rave reviews in the Philadelphia Inquirer. I was not as impressed. The space was very, very nice to be sure. But all tables were 3 x 3 squares and if the party was larger, they were grouped together. No variation. That and the absence of tablecloths gave the otherwise elegant space the feel of a hotel breakfast spot. If they could add tablecloths and maybe a vase with a flower to the tables, it would dress it up so much more.
We hold a very special place in our hearts for this hotel, restaurant, and staff. My husband and I have been going to the Penn's View Inn and Ristorante Panorama for 7 years. We usually plan a weekend getaway at the hotel, visit museums, and dinner at Panorama. It's one of my favorite place in Philly to have dinner with friends and celebrate special occassions. A few years ago, we had our rehearsal dinner in the private wine cellar and it was perfection! All staff members are personable, above and beyond helpful and committed to a memorable experience. With amazing cuisine and the largest wine list in the city...you just can't go wrong. So many different flights of wine to choose from...a Vino Lover's Dream! Buon Cibo Buon Vino, Buoni Amici!
Make a reservation...you won't regret it!
This has always been one of the best Italian 'style' dining options in Center City Philly with a small but creative menu, a super wine selection and reliable, quality service. The new decore and design has given the place an exciting boost to an already wonderful dining space. The star of the remodel however has to be the menu and its focus on local, sustainable, and creative use of ingredients. I began with the wild mushroom saute which was amazing as was the wild boar bologenese for my pasta course. My husband had the lobster crepe and a small salad which were excellent. For mains I had the duck which was perfectly prepared and presented, however the polenta base was rather bland, but still good. My husband chose the Veal Picatta which was beautifully presented but also a bit under seasoned for our tastes though still better than many other fine dining options in the city. One word about the deserts...WOW...save room they are awesome...not heavy, a fine compliment to a great meal. The Senna's (brother Gesseppi has La Famiglia down the street and it's awesome) know how to satisfy!
