Panevino - Reading - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant was nice. A little difficult to locate. The atmosphere was lively and pleasant. The food was ok, but the lasagna was not what we expected. The waitress recognized that we did not like it, but really did not assist in providing another entree. The scallops and pork chop were excellent...
Went for dinner with my 2 teenage daughters after seeing a movie at the Imax. We have been there a few times already and each time we have had a great experience. All 3 of our meals were excellent. The waitress was very attentive. Even though the restaurant was full (it was also restaurant week) the service was prompt and very efficient.
Our first time at Panevino was a good experience. The calamari was wonderful, the service was spot in and the entrees were reasonably priced. There weren't a lot of items that caught my attention but the list of specials was nice and offered a bit of everything. I will be dining there again.
I couldn't have picked a better place for our office to go to celebrate! Making the reservation was a breeze, the greeter was warm and friendly, the facility was clean and well decorated, the bartender had a great personality, the appetizers where a work of art and tasted amazing! Our waiter in the dining area was attentive and knowledgeable about the dishes and wine. We all ordered different dishes and yet all the food was to die for! I would without a doubt recommend Panevino's to everyone, whether you are having a intimate dinner for two, or like us a office party you cannot go wrong. A real dining experience!!
We were in town on a business meeting and found this restaurant on OpenTable. Food and service were very good and everyone made an effort to ensure we enjoyed the food and the restaurant experience. Our waiter was new, but she was awesome. The pepper appetizer was "hot", but you could not stop eating them. Overall, a great restaurant with great food and wonderful staff! Will be back the next time we are in Reading!
Had a very good meal at Panevino. The Melanzano appetizer was fantastic and great calamari also. The lobster ravioli that a friend had was also wonderful and makes me want to go back to order that. Had the cavatelli with spicy pork meatballs and peas. Really enjoyed that also. Too full for dessert! Our waiter was pleasant and had good overall service. Will go back again soon!
If you want a good dining experience be sure to specify "dining room" when making reservation. We did not know to do this and we're seated in the bar area. In the bar, on weekends, there is live music, it's very loud and makes any conversation at your table virtually impossible. When I complained to the hostess I was told there were no other tables open in the dining room. You would think that such a courtesy of telling me this at the time when I made reservation would have been an easy solution, but I was politely told that specifying that I didn't want to sit in the bar was my responsibility. My wife and I were meeting two friends that night. Even though the food and servce was good, our experience was awful.
I would give Panevino better recommendations, but the menu doesn't specify what ALL is in the items. I didn't realize that a baby spinach salad would already come with dressing that i don't like - didn't have any choices, figured it'd be plain...And, when I made our reservation and when we arrived the hostess was aware that I was Celiac and would let our server know. Our server had no clue what Celiac or "gluten-free" was. I had to ask her to ask the chef if 3 different dishes were gluten-free...Not real personable, had people from the bar bumping into our table the whole time...Entree was good at least...
My wife and I very much enjoyed this restaurant. Parking was available in the adjacent lot, and we were seated immediately with our Open Table reservation although others were waiting to be seated. Food (pasta for my wife, crab cakes for myself) was great, and service was okay. The location was perfect for our show across the street at the Miller Center for the Performing Arts. We were very pleased with the overall experience.
Chef Brennan is absolutely amazing! The ambience in the restaurant is perfect; an intimate setting with beautiful decor. From the hostess to the waitstaff, everyone was very attentive and helpful in describing menu and drink options. The food was over the top! I ordered the arugula salad and the Osso Bucco special and savored every bite. Portion sizes and price was right. I cannot wait for the next opportunity to visit Panevino and would encourage everyone to do so, also. Thank you to all for a wonderful dining experience.
We enjoyed our dinner here with another couple. Our waitress (Doreen) was very helpful, and our food was delicious. Having a choice of salads with our entrees was great. We had crabcakes, salmon, and rigatoni for entrees; wedge, arugula in parmesan bowl, and radicchio/endive/arugula with goat cheese for salads. We were here for the Berks Jazz Fest and would definately come again.
Panevino is one of Reading's newest and best! We had out of town guest in Reading for the 2012 Berks Jazz Fest and they enjoyed Panevino very much. The wine list is good. We actually came back to Panevino the following afternoon for a glass of wine and appetizer before another Jazz Show that evening. The restaurant is clean, modern and the staff is knowledgable and friendly. They were great. We will return time and time again. A large group party in the "Wine Room" would be fun. We will work on putting one together.
The food was fair for the price. I had the salmon, and there was WAY too much sauce that overpowered the wonderfully cooked fish. My husband had the seafood risotto which was bland and tasteless. The server didn't even notice that he had barely touched it until it was time to clear his plate. Never offered to remedy the situation. The place was nicely decorated, and the live entertainment was good. I would thuink a good place for appetizers and drinks at the bar. Calamari was outstanding. Don't think we'd go back for dinner though.
Our first experience; we'll be back. Food was exceptional as was the service (two wait staff per table). The menu offered many fine selections and prices were reasonable for a fine dining restaurant of this caliber ($75 with tip, and that included two glasses of wine!).
