Pane e Vino Providence Ratings and Reviews
Valentines Dinner. We’ve been here several times, it’s one of out favorites restaurants. We’ve never had bad food or service, everything has always been spectacular. So it was quite a disappointment. First waiting at the bar. The bartender was great, cocktails yummy. However, really loud patrons that no one quieted down. We got to our table & our server, Angela I think, was just a sweetheart. She never rushed us throughout the entire meal and kept that smile even though it was busy. She was fantastic! The wild boar sausage app was great as was the stuffed pepper. We both got the Osso Bucco, one was fantastic, the other burnt & dry. On to dessert, chocolate cake, was a dry as a bone. But as bad as part of the meal was, there was a very loud, obnoxious party, NOT what you want on Valentines Day. Apparently, there was a convention in town. Again, no one seemed to care or to quiet them down. Overall, we were extremely disappointed.
We come to Pane e Vino often because it has long been our favorite, but this time was disappointing. We got our Valentine's Day reservation in in December and requested a table in the front room, which we know from a lot of experience is much quieter, and much less awkwardly close to the next table over. This request was made with the reservation online through OpenTable, and we got no indication that it wouldn't be able to be accommodated...not even when they gave us a call to confirm the reservation a day or two before.
This kind of rubbed us the wrong way from the beginning...but we figured we were there, and we always go here for Valentine's Day and our anniversary, so we should just make the best of it, sitting at the awkward row of tables along the main pathway from the kitchen to the front room that are all just a veeeery short distance from the next table over, with staff walking by very close, quickly, constantly.
Another thing which, alone, might not be make-or-break... I decided to spring for the special risotto, which was described as the same as the shrimp risotto normally on the menu but with more different seafood, adding scallops and lobster as well. It was not the same...it was not a creamy risotto, but rather a tomatoy one with no cream... it was okay, but not as described and not nearly as delicious.
We usually stay for coffee and dessert after our meal, but not this time... we headed elsewhere, fortunately finding the romantic ambiance we had so carefully tried to arrange by getting in our Pane e Vino reservation in so early.
We won't put this up on Yelp/Google/etc, because we don't want to be whiners.... it was still a nice enough meal despite failing to meet our expectations... but since we were emailed asking for a review, this is the honest feedback. Honestly it probably does mean we will head to our formerly-2nd-favorite place on Federal Hill the next time we want to celebrate :( You were our favorite for 12+ long years.
So when I first got there I was not happy. We had a 630 reservation and were not seated until after seven. But quickly the management and restaurant staff did wonderful things to try to make up for the issue. The food is unbelievable. It is so I said thic so when I first got there I was not happy. We had a 630 reservation I wore not seated until after seven. But quickly the management and restaurant staff did wonderful things to try to make up for the issue. The food is unbelievable. It is so Authentic like Sunday at your grandmothers house. My children go to Providence College and I have visited many restaurants on Atwells Avenue I can tell you that this restaurant is one of the most fantastic. If visiting Providence do not miss this restaurant.
The dinner was absolutely excellent, although the beet salad was rather small (but delicious). The service was fantastic, and the staff was very accommodating when they made a mistake. They treated us very well, beginning when I called earlier in the day to request a table in a quiet part of the restaurant. The valet went above and beyond, too. I can't wait to return, as well as to try their new restaurant also on Atwells Avenue.
Great food, noisy, tables are very close together I was rubbing shoulders with the guy next to me. The staff was friendly but slow service even though it was 8:30 on a Thursday night and the restaurant wasn't that crowded.
We love introducing friends to Pane e Vino! They are always so happy with the warm welcome, attentive service, wonderful menu selections and, of course, fabulous food. And, no matter how often we visit, we always appreciate all those things. Looking forward to our next visit.
The restaurant had a problem with the heating system. That is the reason for the fair ambiance rating. Their response was outstanding. The drinks were free and they even provided a gift certificate. You can judge a business by how they respond to a crisis. Their response was excellent. The whole staff did a very good job.
Went for dinner on New Year's Eve. The food was excellent. The Funghi chicken was delicious. Even though we had reservations we still had to wait twenty minutes for our table. There really isn't much room to stand and wait. Will definitely return on a night that isn't as busy.
Perfect service! Everybody was super friendly and did their job. Complimentary valet parking is a bonus. The food was very good with some very minor exceptions. The only real issue we had was with the temperature inside - me and my wife, we were both freezing. But they were working to resolve this issue. Definitely coming back when it gets warmer.
Great food!! I reserved a table on Open Table and mentioned in the notes that we were celebrating a birthday. When we arrived to the restaurant the table was tastefully decorated with gold confetti and a birthday card in the center from the restaurant! So classy and the service was excellent.
went for family meal on christmas eve before a 10pm church service . res at 8:15 and we were not seated until 9pm bc a very large party stayed on the restaurant long after their meal was finished. the restaurant mgr hosted waitress and staff were all extremely professional and friendly and went out of their way to make up for the wait. we were able to order before being seated so that we were not late to church . definitely going back even though it's 30 min away from home. food was absolutely delicious. we have traveled a lot in italy and the dishes were all authentic and beautifully presented. we were also offered a complementary appetizer. grazie mille to everyone at pane e vino!
Our first time here and we will most definitely return. Excellent high quality Italian food. The lobster ravioli and meatballs were very good and the bread pudding for dessert was wonderful. The service staff were very friendly and took the time to explain the menu in depth as well as describe the appertifs which were an unexpected treat. Complimentary valet parking was very helpful as well.
