Honestly the worst sangria I’ve ever had. Hard to enjoy the food when you’re so disappointed by the drinks. Food was just good, not great, especially if you’re familiar with great tapas.
I will say that I have been to Pamplona every Sunday in Feb and first two Sundays in March for Brunch celebrating Birthdays! I love to suggest Pamplona and it never disappoints. On Saturday March.14, 2020 we went there for brunch for my nieces 26 birthday a party of six including my mom that traveled from nyc to attend. Reservations 1pm, we Gad trouble finding omg parking so we arrived 1:10pm knowing we have a 15 min grace period. The hostess was very rude and short with me when I arrived I said I know we are ten min late for our 1pm reservation the hostess replied your table has been given away!!! Oh ok please give us another table as you are suppose to honor the 15 min grace period! You give the table away at 1:15pm not before that!!! She said I don’t have another table and you are gonna have to wait!! Very abruptly no eye contact just very rude. I suggested maybe you can set us up at the bar! She just said sure and pointed over like yes go ahead not knowing that there was a st pattys day party that had reserved the bar!! So we are just standing around wondering what to do when the bartender came over I believe her name was Alexandria and asked us if we had been helped. I explained we Had 1pm reservation arrived 1:10pm and the hostess said to late your table is given to another group! She kindly stepped away and spoke to the hostess I don’t know what was said but the hostess approached us with the rudest face someone can have slammed the menus on the table and said we can sit in booth by the bar!!! I have worked customer service for 25 years and if I behaved like she did I would be written up!! Or fired!! The bartender came over and cheered us up with some birthday shots and then our waitress Miriam greeted us and was so nice that we forgot the entire hostess drama!
People have to appreciate their jobs and do them well these days! Do the best you can and don’t let your emotions take over!
Excellent service. Our server Ever was very attentive, friendly and professional. Also a good wine list. Some dishes impressive. The rice and cheese balls unfortunately were bland and the hummus and fried calamari boring....but the kale salad, beet salad, brussels sprouts, roasted cauliflower and duck and vegetable paella excellent! The grilled cheese with truffle honey to die for... who needs dessert, unless it’s the chocolate bread pudding. Would recommend as a fun night out with friends for tapas and drinks!
The cocktails were innovative and balanced while the food was fun and refreshing. Service was attentive as well. Located right in Clarendon but semi hidden. We didn’t realize they had been open for three years. A great neighborhood find.
We did the taste of Spain. So we were able to try a lot of the tapas on the menu. Everything was delicious.
We went there for brunch on a Saturday. The service was poor. The food was poor. The ambiance was poor. We had a high table in the bar area near the door. When someone entered, the wind would whip the heavy curtain behind me against me, the table, and the food on the table. Upon leaving I reported this problem to the person at the door and got the distinct impression she did not care. When we ordered several plates at first, the waitress kept forgetting what we ordered and asked us to repeat our orders instead of writing it down. At the outset we ordered pan con tomate which did not arrive until we were ready to leave and then only after reminding three different wait persons of the order. It was prepared with a flimsy bread, barely toasted, and the tomato mixture was cold. The side of bacon consisted of two very thin strips. The migas was unpalatable with a very strong lamb taste.
Excellent time I brought my parents there for brunch and the food was outstanding I highly recommend!
Great food and drink! Caitlin was awesome as our server! We will be back!
The service was awful. Half of what we ordered we had to order twice because he never put it in, then half of that still never came out! He was so slow and inattentive.
The food was great and so was the service. I love the taste of Spain option. Great way to try all small plates.
Awesome, ask for Alex, she’s super
Clarendon needed some better food options and not just bars happy to see this place doing well
Food wasn't that great. And people kept screaming at the bar. Made it to difficult to have a conversation
The taste of Spain is a outstanding deal. Will be back !
Been here about half a dozen times, every time it's amazing. I went last Sunday with two other people and we weren't served food for a complete hour. Yet, we were able to finish two pitchers of mimosas (yikes). We called over a manager, as we saw our server with a 20+ person party, a 12 person party, and then our party of three. The manager apologized and we assured him it wasn't our server's fault. We told him we come here often and love it here, but totally understand that some days are busier than others. Our meal was completely comped and we tipped our server greatly. Great food, drinks, customer service and atmosphere!
The food was amazing. Favorite dessert was breading pudding. There were number of menu items I enjoyed: arugula salad, steak and eggs, grilled cheese, chorizo hash and waffle to name a few. Only bad thing, they didn't keep the bottomless mimosa filled. We had to ask several times for two pitchers to be filled with a table of 10.
The service was excellent but the food was not very good.
Sweet little spot and great for tapas. We have the pork belly. Cooked perfectly.
Not a lot of brunch options but the food was great
Went for date night, had a great time! The Taste of Spain was very fun to experience and share. Come hungry.
The paella’s were the best we have had in DC. Little hidden but what a great find right in Clarendon. Will be back !!
Food was mediocre. Not very tasty. The paella was good, but everything else lacked sophistication.
Had a great time at this restaurant. The service was great. We had the Taste of Spain experience. I recommend this option.
Absolutely fabulous! Amazing food, great service, charming atmosphere! Obsessed with this place!
Pamplona was a great spot to eat with their 35$ unlimited small plates deal & a half off pitcher of Sangria on sundays! The food was good, but not the best Spanish Tapas I have had in the area, and I was not a fan of the croquetas. The tortilla and gambas were my favorite! Would definitely be back and think it would be a great brunch spot.
We loved our experience at Pamplona. I was taking my partner out to dinner to celebrate their birthday. I had also made a request (over the phone) for a tiny birthday celebration. It was perfectly handled. We were taken care off by Sarah, who was an excellent host. She was brilliant and extremely polite.
The food was exquisite: in particular, the Spanish Tortilla was amazing. We loved the bread pudding as well.
We would love to come back to this place in the near future.
Excellent food and service. From the moment you enter until you leave the staff is very attentive while giving you space and time to enjoy the succulent food.
It was restaurant week but they didn’t try to push one way or another. The waiter made sure we knew all of the options and then let us mostly decide. Everything was very tasty and he made recommendations for next time!
Fast service and good food will be back.
Went and tried this restaurant for the first time for restaurant week. We are so glad we did the value is great. The restaurant is right next to the Clarendon metro slightly hidden but what a hidden gem ! Service was quick my husband had the lamb and I had the steak both were cooked well. We will be back to try their brunch !
Excellent dining experience. From walking in the door and being greeted, seated, and drink order taken, was maybe five minutes. Meal come out promptly and was delicious. I recommend the Taste of Spain- $35 all you can eat small plates option. We left full and satisfied. Our server was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Pamplona to all.
Had an excellent brunch their bottomless all you can eat deal is outstanding. The server informed us about their upcoming restaurant week already made a res for Tuesday (half price wine night)
Loud. Very loud, worth the effort. Our waiter expected us to order in the first 7 seconds. There seemed an ongoing collision between the pace he thought we should be ordering/eating and our intention of having dinner out and not experiencing, essentially, a drive through. The food varied in preparations and size. Some were well sized, others microscopic. Worth the try. Hoping to go back and maybe try brunch.
We have been to Pamplona many times, this is an updated review. Pamplona continues to deliver as a great spot in Clarendon both to dine and drink. A creative cocktail menu, well priced wine list, and excellent food and service. In past trips we've taken advantage of the all-you-can-eat "taste of spain" which is great value, but as this was a mid-week meal we wanted something lighter, ordering 5 tapas and finding ourselves well satisfied. Of note, the Pulpo (octopus) was perfectly cooked, which speaks well to the talents of the kitchen. If octopus isn't your thing, we also enjoyed the albondigas (meatballs), gambas (shrimp), patatas bravas (a staple) and charred brussels. Definitely a spot worth (re)visiting!
The food was ok but quite overpriced (even for DC). The portions were quite small and the steak was not prepared properly.
Best brunch you can get in the area. They have an incredible weekend brunch deal that you just can’t beat. Every single item was absolutely delicious. Will be back again and again!
After reading a lot of the reviews, we decided to try this place. Unfortunately it was disappointing and that the drinks were tiny and pricey. Food was just OK nothing like
Nothing nothing special here. Do not plan to go back.
Excellent food. For four people, we ordered 8 assorted small plates to share and one large order of paella. We took about 1/3 to 1/2 of the paella home. The paella is outstanding.
Not the best tapas I've had in DC, but pretty good if you don't want go all the way into the city. The octopus was fantastic, and the croquettes were just ok. Very nice service and drink selection though.
