Pampano New York Ratings and Reviews
Hidden next to McCormick & Schmick's, this hidden gem is a great find. From the moment you walk through the door to the moment you leave, you are greeted with a smile. Great service throughout the meal, and the food was outstanding. Ambiance, noise level, decor, all perfect.
Pampano is a great find @ 49th and Lexington. We sat outdoors on the 2nd floor patio for a lovely evening. Heidi the hostess and Claudia our server were professional, gracious, friendly and attentive. Food was outstanding (the sopas are perfect as well); the margaritas (de oro, especially) made with care. We always think of Pampano when seeking authentic Mexican food in Manhattan!
The MARISCADA (shrimp / calamari / bay scallops / cilantro rice / achiote-coconut sauce / pineapple) was just amazing. I love calamari so I took a chance on this entree but this is so much more than just calamari with other stuff! It's just the perfect blend of tastes, slightly spicey but partially sweet. I would come back to Pampano just to have this dish again. Plus it's filling without being overly so.
Pampano is a beautiful restaurant that takes you away with its authentic atmosphere. There's a lovely outside veranda area as well. Guacamole- we ordered it medium with extra cilantro- was absolutely delicious. Food is extremely good and artfully presented. Highly recommended.
The food was terrible. The gazpacho tasteless, as was the marinated chicken. The ceviche was probably the best item along with sorbet. The salsa was unsalted tomatoes that accompanied a tasteless chicken. Better enchiladas are available in food trucks at way lower prices. The guacamole was mashed avocado. So all in all a 100$ disastrous lunch.
4 of us went for Restaurant Week lunch. There was a nice set of food options and the food was very good. Unfortunately, the service was incredibly slow. Although it was busy (1PM lunch on a Wednesday), given that we ordered from the special menu I would have expected lunch to take less than 90 minutes.
