The food was amazing, this is the third time I have dinned here. Was at Pammys for a friend’s birthday this time, had made the original reservation for two people but we had a last min addition. The hostess informed us that we would not be able to sit at the table and would have to sit at the bar which we didn’t mind. There were two bartenders working a male and female, the male bartender was who was serving us. Both of the girls who I was having dinner with had never been to Pammys before. The bartender was rude and brash, his humor was also unprofessional and I welcomed by us. A few examples of this was when we asked for a few extra plates to share his response was "sure, we have all kinds of plates here what do you want?” In a condescending tone, and then when the girls were taking pictures of the food to document the birthday experience, and because they loved the food he muttered "it tastes better eating it then taking pictures of it” also when I tried to break the ice with him and say I appreciate you helping us I feel like I owe you. He said at the end of the dinner I give you a piece of paper and you give me back some green paper. He ended up leaving towards the end of our dinner and another gentleman took over who was great and saved the night (also the female bartender working was great, helpful and friendly) I’m sure I’ll be in again but I won’t be sitting with that bartender. Besides the bartender the dinner experience was outstanding, the food is always amazing and delicious. The decor and atmosphere great as well.
Food was excellent, but our server was very unpleasant and inattentive.
Had an absolutely perfect dinner at Pammy's recently. We had a variety of heavy to light items ordered and we're having a hard time picking a wine, and our server had the sommelier come over to give us a great recommendation based on what we'd ordered. In general service was very pro, a perfectly seamless evening.
Get the spaghetti, you'll be glad you did.
Traveled into Cambridge on a Wednesday night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Knowing the connection to other favorite restaurants, like Rialto, we were excited to spend our evening at Pammy's. The restaurant is nestled in a cute little neighborhood, but once inside visitors are met with beautiful interior decor. Be warned, though, that there are a lot of hard surfaces. This means a busy night is very LOUD and makes it very difficult to hear for conversation. The waitstaff was very professional and attentive. The menu is creative, but deceiving. For example, the "antipasti" is more of a charcuterie with cheese. There were only a couple of beet slices and a small dish of olives for vegetables. I did enjoy my Spaghetti 2.3, but had the misfortune of eating under-cooked pasta. My dinner companion tasted it, as well, and confirmed that the al dente texture had more crunch than bite. For dessert I ordered the Strawberry Crema. There is whipped creme fraiche, but not the traditional crema made from an egg based custard. Flavors are delicious, but you may not get what you were expecting. I recommend asking a lot of questions when ordering. The names of the menu items may not match what you envision you're ordering! All in all, a fun place to visit.
Love this place. The space is absolutely beautiful. You can tell that someone put a lot of thought into the interior design and branding for the restaurant. We sat at the communal table, which is an interesting concept. The only downside with that is that, it's a bit difficult to have a conversation when everyone around you is talking. I would recommend getting a separate table instead. The booth seatings are beautiful as well and look very comfortable.
The cocktails were amazing. The food as well. Interesting interpretation of some restaurant favorites, i.e. mussels with arancini. The pasta dishes were well cooked and the ingredients were fresh and delicious. Dessert was okay but overall all the food and drink was on point. Would definitely come back.
We had a wonderful dining experience. Great food and service, however it is very noisy.
The food, service, and ambiance were all five-star, but the noise was so deafening that we could not even hear the person next to us! So, civilized dining is mot possible here.
Unfortunately, we will not return nor can we recommend it to snyone who wishes to have a civilized meal chstacterized by good conversation.
Pammy's exceeded expectations! I've lived in the Cambridge and Somerville area for more than 10 years, and this restaurant is one of the best I've seen come to town. I met another foodie friend to catch up. We shared everything: heirloom tomatoes and asparagus with cheese for appetizer (two dishes, both amazing!); pasta with mushrooms and cherries; and halibut with white beans. Plus blueberry crostata and mascarpone ice cream for dessert. My summary here does not do the food justice! And our server was amazing; the right mix of helpful yet efficient. I will definitely be going back to Pammy's again soon!
My fiance and I went to Pammy's this weekend for the first time, and we were completely underwhelmed. I had high hopes considering the many great reviews. I will say that the decor is gorgeous and our server was really cool, but he had way too many tables (service could have been better). Bread to start was okay but nothing special. We waited forever for drinks (and bread). We had the mussels to start and they were good but there was like 8 mussels in the entire bowl- are you serious?! We tried 2 pastas- Spaghetti 2.3 and Casarecce. Spaghetti 2.3 was good- al dente and sauce was good but nothing special. The other pasta just didn't work at all. It was like mac n' cheese with cherries that needed to be cooked more and with sauce that was far too watery. We also try the pork main entree. I wasn't really tender at all- such a bummer. With other much better restaurants in the area I won't be going back.
We loved the food & decor. However it was so noisy that it detracted from the experience. I would love to come back but doubt that I will given the intense noise level
This was my second time dining at Pammy's, and I've had two wonderful experiences. The food has been consistently outstanding, and the service uniformly attentive, knowledgeable and warm. Add all this to the charm of the space, and it makes for a wonderful evening out. Thank you!
Inventive food, great servers(!), elegant chill dining space- feels like my best dinner party on steroids- what’s not to love - don’t miss lamb belly - lamb bolognese, and wagyu beef !
The service was extraordinary, professional and personable! The wines were perfectly matched with the food. The appetizers, pastas and mains we had were all exceptional!
Inspired menu and dishes that were familiar but entirely new to my pallette. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff. Beautiful and thoughtfully designed ambiance.
Attenive service. Staff was open to answering questions about the menu. Loved both of the mirrors.
The food was delicious and the cocktails were well-crafted - I can't wait to come back and explore more of both menus. I loved how the service team worked as one big unit, constantly circling the room and making sure every table did not go long without being attended to. However, our main server, Nate (I believe), was absolutely incredible and I cannot enough words here to describe all the ways. He was extremely knowledgeable about the food and cocktail menus, but also had the right amount of humor mixed with his professionalism. He gave us space to breathe but was also ready for the next course or question when the opportunity presented itself.
Great job, Nate!
Innovative menu, delicious food made with quality ingredients, terrific staff, and attentive service. Who could ask for anything more?
Pammy’s is everything all of th reviews say it is- both the good and the bad. The food is delicious. It has a vibrant vibe-so vibrant you cannot hear yourself think, let alone anyone sitting across the table or the server trying to take your order or give you suggestions or information about the extraordinarily good, hand-crafted, creative cocktails and marvelous food.
We were seated at the communal table and we were glad we were. Seated side by side we could carry on a conversation and the terrific server could lean in to hear and be heard.
We had the heirloom tomatoes and the mussels to start. Both were wonderful. We each ordered a main course that we also shared. The halibut was perfectly cooked and the presentation was was both delicious and beautiful. The Wagu skirt steak was butter soft, medium rare and simply spectacular.
All of this comes at a steep price and you may find similar quality and creativity right up the street. Paying the staff at back of the house is the restaurant’s responsibility and should be factored in when pricing the food not added as an additional tip.
A group of six extremely loud lawyers were allowed to yell during the whole meal. Very annoying. No one took them to task to quiet down. Probably afraid to jeopardize their tips.
Great ambiance and service! Nate, our waiter, was a brilliant combination of laid back and efficient. Can't wait to come back.
The place has bad acoustics. Tha A/C could not adequately handle the hot evening. The tables are too close to each other so that when the waiter was opening the wine bottle at the table next to ours, he was practically sitting on my lap.
We had a very good time. Some of the food was excellent but some not to my liking however others may love it. The use of strong spice and sharp flavors was commonly used. I prefer flavorful spices that are more subtle not so sharp. I loved the decor and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
I would return to try other dishes. The chocolate cake and caramel ice cream was superb.
We came here for my wife's birthday. It was crowded so a reservation was definitely needed. We had a wonderful server (Nate) who was attentive but not smothering and had a good sense of humor. Cocktails were great as was the wine selection. They serve 1/2 cocktails for some on the items on their drink menu so my wife appreciated being able to try two different cocktails that were both reasonable in price and alcohol content. The food was outstanding! We are pescatarians and we has some great options although it is a meat-heavy menu. We would go back anytime! For a birthday dinner, this place is great!
Our Anniversary Pick
We chose Pammy’s to celebrate our anniversary , but we would have picked it for a regular dining experience prior to that but haven’t had the free time to do so until now. We had read reviews, which spiked our interest and then the fact that it made a top USA list, motivated us to pick it to celebrate our special occasion.
A special thanks to the hostess team to organize a seating at a table when OpenTable sited only bar seats available. We sat at a communal table as all others were as reported booked. However. There are bar seats ,tables for 2, 4 or more and the communal table.
We shared a great appetizer of squid ink mini risotto balls in a yummy broth with perfectly steamed mussels. We shared a small twisted pasta with light transparent sauce with slivers of porcini. Good , perfect for summer, light and fresh but not stellar. Pasta was the right al dente. ( I am Italian and my pasta bar is rather high) We shared a main dish of stripe bass over a thin layer of farro and green. Also good.
Served before all this was a small plate of 3 bread slices and olive oil.
Wait staff: fair to good ( never checked on us, or asked if we would like something else, nor if we had allergies, so speak up- heard others being attended to but we were slightly over looked). Staff was pleasant and friendly.
Note: slightly warm , on a hot summer night, no air conditioning
We felt very well taken care of by all of the staff, from when we walked in, to when we left. Seeing other people's cocktails and their exotic presentation made me want to have one, but we stuck to wine and it was very intriguing. We ordered 4 appetizers to share and our favorite was the asparagus with fried, smoked mozzarella and edible flowers and the cucumber soup with fresh peas, crab and mozzerella islands, also with edible flowers (different ones!!) Mussels were pretty good, with Kefir Lime aioli, Lamb belly with green papaya was also pretty tasty. We sat at a long communal table facing out to the street with a beautiful huge loft-style window - so had that nice SOHO factory/designer feel.
The restaurant was very crowded when we arrived for an 8:30 reservation on a Thursday evening and we could not be seated for about 15 minutes. But, the owner personally came by and took our drink orders and everyone was friendly and helpful. The food and cocktails were amazing. Some very interesting and very creative flavor pairings, but it all worked and was delicious. The noise level is high, but overall the place has a great vibe. Highly recommended for food, cocktails and a friendly vibe.
Fantastic food and service. Great staff.
Pammy's is unique in the Boston area. The dining area is well designed and it is immediately comfortable. The food amazing and the wines good - and not what you find on most restaurant lists. It's a go-to place for me now. The only negative is the acoustics can make it tough sometimes to talk to the person next to you.
My wife and I enjoyed our date night at pammy's. The food was Exquisite Italian, and it really presented nuanced flavors that I was not expecting. Our waiter was perfect; he was the perfect mix of attentive and present without being overbearing.
I highly recommend this restaurant for people looking for upscale cuisine in a local neighborhood scene. I can't wait to go back.
Love Pammy's it has great and interesting wine picks and cocktails, excellent food, and ambiance!
Woah, well deserved praise. Every single dish was well thought out and delicious. i would say it's a blend of italian and thai flavors. Do the lamb bun! it's my favorite item on the menu
Great food but our waitress was very dismissive and seemed to be trying to rush us out even though we had an 8:30 reservation and would be her last table for the night. Came over three times for our entree order before we received appetizers, essentially forcing us to order. She also had an extremely sarcastic response to a very valid question on the menu. Food and wine list were fantastic nonetheless.
Katie was outstanding, overall service was fabulous, flavors were incredible, staff was attentive......one of the best meals we have enjoyed in a long time
Simply one of 3 of the best restaurants in and around Boston. Hands down.
I have never written a review previously, despite being a Boston area "foodie", but I loved our meal at Pammy's. The decor is refined; the food was seasonal and universally spot on; and the service was excellent (our server was not only knowledgeable about the menu- including the unusual succulent used largely as a decoration on the swordfish- but also the eclectic wine list). I normally dislike communal tables but the table at Pammy's didn't detract. I will be back, hopefully soon.
Food and service were great, but the noise level undercut everything. Interestingly, in this instance, the noise comes, not from some loud thumping music in the background, but from the tight quarters and lively conversations of neighbors.
Fabulous fresh inventive menu and at the same time Italian
Delicious, interesting menu. Fun atmosphere.
Very noisy and seating not at all private........bartender lady was great and talented but that was not why I went to restaurant
Wonderful anniversary celebration with my husband! We enjoyed the creative + delicious selections on the menu, the staff was amazing + loved the atmosphere. We will be back!
