Palmilla Cocina Y Tequila Ratings and Reviews
My grandson, my late husband and I have dined at Palmilla everytime we have visited Hermosa for years. Now my grandson and I are continuing that tradition. The food is exceptional as is the service. I have to avoid wheat/gluten. The waitstaff sees I am served their homemade corn tortillas with appetizers and entrees. I don't know about their flour tortillas, but the corn ones are the best I have eaten anywhere. Try the fish tacos, a favorite of ours, as again, they are the best!
Ambiance was great, food was very good. People were very friendly. A little pricey but I can live with that. Only issue was we were told we had to leave before our desert came - they made us take it to go. I spent over $300.00 for dinner and did not expect to be told I had to take my desert to go. Other than that, it was a fun night.
Great drinks, food, and service! Loved the homemade tortillas and served with the honey butter was a different touch. Great team work from the waitstaff. We live out of state, but wished we lived in the area so we could go back and try other items. Saw the Guacamole Festival Tasting pass by and it looked amazing.
I made a reservation requesting a high chair. When we arrived, the hostess took us to our seats - no smiles or greeting - and no indication of where we can find a high chair. She then disappeared. Quite a put off. We flagged down a waiter and got directed to where we could get a high chair eventually. The service picked up a bit after (our waitress was alright).
The patio is good for people watching.
The food was good; large portions.
Loved the margaritas.
Our seating reservations were messed up so we were initially placed at an indoor table where the ambiance is geared for a younger crowd. Fortunately we were moved to an outdoor seating, but they have too many people working a single table so things got a bit screwed up. Food was good, but pricey.
Nice casual restaurant located about 100 yards from Hermosa pier. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. I sat inside but I noticed at least 2 large fire pit tables outside which would be perfect for people watching along the plaza. They have a small indoor bar with about 8 or so bar stools. Most food has a Mexican flair with a nice culinary touch using the best and freshest ingredients. I had the crusted Chilean sea bass ($36) which was superb. It came with a spicy pineapple salsa on the side but I preferred the fish without it because it did not add much and to me, it over powered the rich delicate flavor of the bass. I also had a cucumber margarita called the Diablo ($12) which was one of the best I've ever had. The Modelo Especial on draft paired well with the complimentary house salsa and fresh hot tortillas they give you at the beginning. The service and vibe was fast and fun, a bit noisy and pricey but I will come back again for a special occasion and try the bar and fire pit. I recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a fun restaurant in Hermosa with good food, drinks, service and location.
My all-time-favorite. The service is always stellar. Never too pushy, always perfect. I can't say enough about the food. Try everything. Drinks are delish. Got a bottle of wine on my b-day. Very reasonable and quite good. Love the patio but the inside is just gorgeous and sexy. Eye-candy everywhere. This place remains my special-occasion place but also my favorite daytime/ drinks / people watching on patio. From start to finish, always exceptional.
Our first visit - after reading previous reviews we elected to sit outside in the patio. Inside seemed boisterous but didn’t bother us on the patio. Service was excellent and attentive but not pushy. My wife’s meal seemed a little over priced but it was one of the specials of the house. I dropped the value rating from 4 to 3 stars due to this. We will definitely be back.
Hostess was extremely cold which is a shame because that's the first person you see walking into a restaurant. We were weary about staying after that. Waiter was very nice...he seemed a little busy even though there were a lot of empty tables. People by the bar were really loud and it looked like they were regulars because a lot of the waiters seemed to know them. The food for me was the best part.
The best thing about this restaurant was the drinks. The food was terrible. The guacamole tasted like it came from a tub from Walmart (couldn't eat it). Salsa terrible served with homemade flour tortillas that were raw in the middle. The food overall was flavorless and not cooked very well. There were too many tables packed into a small space. A horrible dining experience!
