The service was horrible
Drinks 100% Delicious and we’ll craf
Food the ribeye was stringy and tough. Not what I was expecting from this restaurant
Food was very bland and very overpriced. Loved the decor of the restuarant but will not be returning.
Overpriced for bland Mexican food and basic drinks, noisy ambiance! I do not recommend this place.
One of our favorite spots in Hermosa! Great mixed drinks delicious food and service is awesome!
We really enjoyed our dinner. We absolutely loved our food. The only problem with this place was the seating - just a little tight for us and it was a little noisy which made it difficult to have a conversation with our friends sitting across from us. We'll be back anyway, the food was great and so was our service.
Took 45 minutes (and three reminders) for the waiter to bring tortillas - which usually arrive in first 10 minutes
I've written about this place before - to add another comment - super energetic friendly staff. fantastic Mexican cuisine - Chile Rellenos are amazing.
Favorite place to go to. The service wasn’t as great as it usually is but overall it was great.
Palmilla has fun margaritas and hand-crafted cocktails as well as an amazing array of entrees! Would definitely recommend to families or for a fun date night. :)
Great food, great service, great ambiance!
best restaurant in the south bay. my personal favorite..
Very unpleasant experience all around. Over-rated, mediocre dishes and lack of attention from hurried waiters.
Christmas dinner with family a big letdown. Should have lowered our expectations.
I had the salmon and my boyfriend had the seafood special. Both were delicious, as were the cocktails.
Our service was so great and the cocktails and menu were delicious. We enjoyed a really special, fun meal.
Annual girls in the neighborhood Christmas dinner.... loved it. The table was outside, which is a bit quieter than inside. The patio cover and heaters made it perfect. The margarita selection is awesome. The food is yummy and the price is good.
Great space and good price for what you get. My table wasn’t ready when I arrived and the people at the table I was supposed to have were allowed to order another round of drinks when we were there waiting for the table. Had to follow up with staff a few times to get them to leave and was waiting about 20 minutes total.
Love Palmilla! So amazingly delicious!!!
We chose this restaurant b/c we had a vegan in our party and they offer vegan options. All our meals were fantastic, and our vegan loved the vegan enchiladas. I’m not vegan but ordered the vegan tacos and they were also amazing! Our server Eric was awesome and made perfect recommendations ... and don’t even get me started on the fab margaritas!! We will be back often.
Holiday dinner with college friends.
So much fun and delicious!
Food was amazing as was akevin our waiter and his recommendation!
Made a brunch reservation and when I arrived power was out at all businesses in the area, but the staff was super kind and accomomodated my party with chips and drinks. Luckily power came back after about 30 minutes and the amazing service continued. GREAT BRUNCH menu and the food was perfect. Highly recommend.
Waitstaff was friendly and helpful. Good food and drinks! Patio is cozy with a couple of small fire side tables.
Brunch was amazing . Great service and Conner our server was great. He has served us in the past and he is very attentive . My only complaint is that one of the employees ( one of the basics there with the muscles and the tattoos ) seemed annoyed that he had to turn the heater on for us . We did change our mind about having the heater on since we were in the sun . But I didn’t need to know he was inconvenienced to do his job.
Fantastic wait staff, fantastic food
We keep going back to Palmilla. The food and service are excellent. It's consistently good. The only issue is how loud it is in the dining area. You have to make an effort to be heard with friends. Better to sit outside if you want to have meaningful conversation.
Palmilla is our go-to restaurant for special occasions, date nights and when we have guests in town. It serves the most delicious, inspired food, unique drinks with super fresh ingredients and superior service in HB! All with an atmosphere that is stunning and lively. The servers work together to make sure you are well taken care of, remember every detail and drink order all with finesse and fun personality. Simply the best!
Tried this place out for the first time due to all the good reviews on Yelp, but were left completely underwhelmed with the food. Pretty expensive for what we got. Everything everyone ordered at our table (four of us) needed to be salted for flavor. Everything was pretty bland. Pricing would be fine if the food had more flavor. The handmade tortillas served with salsa and butter at the beginning was good. So there’s that...
Our go to for great quality Mexican. Had Las Brisas plate and ahi fajitas along with Palmilla margaritas. Loved it all. Service always attentive. Super loud but fun and great atmosphere.
The quality of the food has really gone down. Ordered the ahi appetizer and the tuna was very stringy. Tried to pick up one piece and a clump that looked like a bunch of grapes came out. The ceviche white fish appetizer wasn’t good either. Didn’t order dinner.
Everything was great but as soon as we got seated the hostess right away said how much time we had. I thought that was very rude tell us how much time we have before we even sit down.
Felt rushed. The three of us got there at 5:30 and wanted a table outside. We were told that there was a party coming in at 7:30 who had reserved the table and that we would need to leave by 7:15. We asked if we could get another table at 7:15 and were told we would have to be put on the list and it wasn’t a guarantee. Which was kind of strange because it was a Wed night and the patio was empty. 7 pm cam around and our server reminded us again that we had to leave at 7:15, we asked again about another table and he said we had to be put on the list again. Hostess comes over at 7:14 as we were finishing our drinks and says the party is here and we had to move.
I get it, we were told ahead of time and everyone was super nice and very polite but it felt sucky to have to move with no other table to go to, and the patio was EMPTY.
No biggie we went across the way and spent our money and the rest of the evening at another restaurant.
It was good, not amazing. Pretty restaurant. We sat outside . The inside portion was blasting loud music. The servers were very nice and relaxed.
I come once a year and this is my favorite spot. Frequent it as much as possible when I’m in town. Love it. Love the staff, they are the reason we always come back!
I had the mahi mahi taco plate and it was so delicious!!!!!!!
Wish they had more outside/patio seating!! Inside is a bit loud and the seating isn’t very comfortable. Drinks are always great and food is good.
Service was good and the food was great as usual. The white sangria was awesome.
Food and service was great!
We were full from the starter dish and 4 drinks in so we ordered 2 dinners to go. Didn't realized they charged us $3.50 for to go meal's. WTF! I dropped over $160.00 for 2 and this is what we get.
For this we will not recommend to our friends and not coming back.
First time at Palmilla and it was great. From the time we arrived until we left. Wonderful service, the food and drinks outstanding... love the fresh tortillas. I will definitely come back. Thank you!
We have eaten at Palmilla Cocina several times over the past few years. This evening our party of 3 had dinner to celebrate a birthday. We made our reservation with Open Table and we were seated immediately on arrival. Our waiter was attentive and informative. We ordered a couple of their Peppina Diablo margaritas and a classic, hand squeezed lime margarita. They were all very good but at $12.50 a piece the Peppina Diablo margaritas are overpriced. Even at $11 the classic margarita is too expensive especially given that all of the drinks were fairly small - a highball glass of mostly ice.
We ordered the short rib taquitos as an appetizer which was quite tasty. For the main we had 2 Playa La Brisas ($31.50/ea) and a Chipotle Pollo y Hongos ($22). All were quite good albeit expensive. We finished with a Flan De Azucar and the waiter very thoughtfully brought a fried ice cream desert for the birthday girl. We all ordered coffee however, quite surprisingly what was served was barely lukewarm and had to be returned which at $4.50 a cup was disappointing.
The tab totalled $192 not including the tip for 3 people and only one round of drinks. I have to say that makes Palmilla decidedly expensive. Many of the main dishes were >$30 and several were in the $40+ range. We limited ourselves to one round of drinks and avoided the more expensive items (>$40) on the menu. I no longer consider Palmilla to be a reasonably priced place to eat. It is also the ONLY place on Pier Plaza to not have a happy hour. It is for this reason that we are likely to not eat there much in the future as it is basically a $75/pp (assuming you add a glass of wine or an additional drink with your meal) making it the most expensive casual mexican restaurant that I know.
