Palm House Ratings and Reviews
Very disappointing experience for us. We had a reservation that was not honored or checked off in the Open Table system when we arrived. Had to wait another 30 minutes to sit down. Food and service was ok. The focus seemed to be on the drinkers in the restaurant which the bar is near the host area and was chaotic.
This was our fourth dinner at the restaurant and as usual the food was good and service was attentive but not intrusive. Our reservation was in the middle of the week, so we had no problem getting a table on the patio, where it can be noisy/loud. I would suggest sitting inside if you require quiet.
Really cute spot. Tasty food, particularly the heirloom salad and brisket taco. Large portion is a bar, so a loud Saturday night is to be expected. Would not recommend to bring children at this time- felt bad for the family trying to get a table among the throngs of bar-goers. But overall, good experience. Will be returning!
I had lunch with eight others. All fo us were pleased with the food, and I was the most pleased of all, with my order of chicken and biscuits Caribbean style. The waiter was congenial and informative ... and prompt! I was proud of myself for choosing such a fine place for a group of friends ... I was ready to give it five stars... but then Union Street intruded in the form of a quartet of very loud howlers, celebrating themselves. The noise level exploded. I realized that we'd come during a momentary lull in the clamor. I despise LOUD restaurants, LOUD people in LOUD restaurants, and restaurants that set their decor to cultivate what this very page labels as "energetic" noise. I probably won't give Palm House a second chance. LOUD ambience is painful ambience.
I've been wanting to try this place ever since it opened, and a group of us tried it on a recent Sunday evening, our group consensus was just okay, drinks okay, food okay, service okay, I have put no For recommending this place because there is not a maybe option, someone else may have a great experience, but we'll not be back.
Went here recently for the first time in about two years (had really loved it before) and was pretty disappointed. They have changed the menu, and the food doesn't quite hit the mark anymore. We asked for more chips for our guac and they told us they'd have to charge us $2 for a refill... of about 10 chips. It was raucous and noisy and even though we made a reservation we had to wait for our table and were told we couldn't get a table outside. Not worth it.
Even though I had noted we were there for a birthday, no mention was made of it. And worse part was, the server brought us our check before we asked for it - didn't even ask if we wanted desert or another drink. And no one was waiting for our table. Not the best service.
Our group of 8 came here for a lunchtime celebration following my daughter's graduation from University of San Francisco. The place was fun and lively ---- good music and ambiance.
More than the atmosphere, our service was phenomenal. Our server, Jacob, was great! We ordered a Fish Bowl and it arrived earlier than the guest of honor. Staff quickly took it back to the bar and removed the ice so it wouldn't be watered down.
The food was great! And the price, so reasonable.
When management learned it was my daughter's graduation, she was given a gift card for a future visit.
Thanks Palm House for the amazing service and start to a wonderful weekend celebration.
Love this space! Made a last minute reservation and they seated me in the patio area since they knew I was bringing my dog. Service was amazing an the cocktails were also really nice. Everyone enjoyed their orders. Great place to go to on a nice, sunny day since they have an indoor/outdoor theme.
Had a fab time at the Palm House! We reserved 2 tables - one for me and my husband, and the other for our daughter and her date for her Senior Ball (which they were headed to right after dinner). When we made our reservations, I asked that the tables be distant from each other so that she and her date would have privacy, and the Palm House came through:) The food was fantastic - portion sizes were perfect for completing in one sitting, not too large, and not too small. I had the jerk chicken plate which was simply amazing, and my husband had the Thai plate with fish, and he loved it as well. Our daughter had the gumbo which she liked, but she didn't like her own meal as much as she and her boyfriend both loved his - he ordered the ribs and mac & cheese. I suspect that she might not have known what to expect with the gumbo, so it might be that people who love gumbo would have been thrilled with Palm House gumbo;) And what was really special is that the staff gave my daughter and her date leis, which was a surprise, and very sweet. The pricing is really reasonable, and parking was available in a garage right near the restaurant! Highly recommended, and we will definitely be back:)
We had a fantastic brunch; coconut mint cold brew coffee cocktails, Tahitian vanilla waffles with caramelized bananas and rum maple and burnt orange butter, mango fried chicken sandwich on Hawaiian sweet bread with juniper berry slaw, and pineapple sugar cane glazed bacon — holy sh**.
