Palm house is one of my go to weekend restaurants. Great atmosphere, a little noisy but it adds to the life of the restaurant. The food is fantastic.
I have been here before with better results but this last time was terrible. The service was absolutely terrible. I couldn’t find anyone to refill my drinks and I had to actually walk up to the kitchen to get a side of French fries. Food wise we ordered the ahi poke avocado as an appetizer and fried chicken sandwiches for both of us. First off they brought out the chicken sandwiches first. We didn’t receive the “appetizer” until 15 minutes later. As we’re digging into our chicken sandwiches which were actually good we found that some of my gfs sweet potato fires were still frozen. We wanted to tell someone but once again could not find our server or any other server. At that we were just ready to get out of there. Too bad we’ve been before and especially enjoyed the cocktails and we’re planning on having a few that day. Unfortunately with the poor service we didn’t even have the opportunity to have more than 1.
Good food, good costumer service, loved the front patio.
Had a great time for Sunday brunch in the outdoor section. Service was good, they were out of a couple of items when we ordered but we were able to substitute for other things we wanted. Guava mimosa was really good
Great ambiance, excellent service, interesting food preparations!
The brisket taco was SO GOOD. I should have ordered 5 of those. Great drinks too. And I love that this place is dog friendly.
Jake, our server, was great. We enjoyed the place. Tasty food but prices are a bit high, I guess that is what you get when brunching in San Francisco. Recommended.
Really great! Only downside was that they were out of my favorite dish.
Very loud and not so kid-friendly on a Sunday late afternoon. Food was great and I would go back for a different occasion.
We hosted our birthday brunch here of 15 and it was a perfect day out the management team was the best and super thoughtful of our group and our birthday stars so much great energy here cheers to the manager and waitress for attending to us and for the comp ice cream you guys are awesome.
Our waiter was Adam and he was awesome! Super attentive, but didn’t hover one bit. We actually loved every time he would come by. If he wasn’t working we would have insisted he come out with us. He anticipated all our needs and was the cherry on top of a delicious brunch celebrating our special occasion. The music COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER. Motown with classic oldies that everyone in Earth knows the words to. The guava mimosa was delicious. The prickly pear mimosa, too. The seating was super picturesque for a large group. We sat on the cushioned bench in front of the huge windows with palms behind it. The lighting in the morning with skylights over us was as good as studio lighting. Their service was also prompt but they let us take our time, which was really nice.
Great ambiance when the weather is good!
Awesome food and cocktails!
I have been to Palm several times, I live in the neighborhood and never have experienced such poor food and service at this restaurant. I have been here several times for brunch but this brunch on Sunday 2p.m. turned out to be a REALLY REALLY loud and obnoxious party scene. Really? it was bunch! Save this hot mess for night time. Manager came over to "fake" an apology, wait staff was more interested in party than other guests seated in the rear of the restaurant. Very poor service and as a result the food cold and we couldn't get our beverages refilled because the bar was too busy with the party. Question whether they were legally over capacity. Will not be going back to Palm again and letting my friends and family know... not that the manager cares. Way to alienate your more stable/consistent guests.
We have always loved Palm House for their drinks, apps and atmosphere (fun bar scene, great patio). Hadn’t been to dinner in awhile there and thought it was so fantastic! Great spices and mix of flavors. We loved everything we ordered and there are more items on the menu that I want to try! Will definitely be heading back.
I constantly walk by Palm House and it's usually pretty busy especially midday on weekends, and it gets good reviews but we had a horrible experience. There was basically no one in the restaurant which would usually mean great service but quite the opposite. I arrived to meet clients who looked less than thrilled. They'd asked about a bottle of wine to which they were told it was out, and asked for a recommendation similar to it and got an opposite recommendation, to which then proceeding to bring tastes out of the wines that we specifically said we didn't want, and then said they were actually out of the second type we wanted. We were supposed to have dinner there but after having a drink during which the server completely disappeared and we had to go to the bar to ask for the check, we decided to leave. It felt like it maybe used to be good and well put together but lost it's shine and never re-polished, nor hired staff that were well trained or cared much. Too bad, looks cute.
Bad service, bad food, very loud. Will never return
Crazy busy early Saturday evening. Noise level ridiculously high. And I would suggest a week night if you are looking for quiet dinner.
First time here - heard it was popular for brunch. Flatbread was impossible to cut and tuna poke was way way too oily. Lots of oil + a mayo/aioli type sauce + avocado. Drinks were nothing special. Server was very nice though. Then got extremely crowded at the bar and other customers were pretty obnoxious - that’s to be expected during day drinking hours though. Would come back on a day or night out partying, but not to sit down.
Enjoyed Restaurant Week Dinner Menu.
Appetizer - Seared Ahi
Entree - Pork Press
Dessert - Almond Joy Pie
It was also happy hour which was perfect! The guava slushy was bomb
You simply cannot add mango to dishes and call it West Indian. It's a little insulting and pretty inaccurate. I'm of West Indian descent and was super excited to move to the city and find out that there is a Jamaican restaurant in the area! I took my husband and my daughter and we looked at the menu, looking for our favorite dishes (okay, not exact, but something similar would do!) only to find mango garnishing everything and sweet/tangy sauces. I mean it was tasty but definitely not West Indian. If you are looking for something authentic... This isn't your spot.
Great for a fun group dinner! Service was excellent and there are enough menu options to satisfy everyone.
This was my first time visiting this restaurant and had a great experience. The food was great as well as the drinks, and our waiter let us order off the happy hour menu even though we arrived 5 minutes after it was over. Definitely will be back soon.
Great food but at one point the music was so loud I couldn't hear the person next to me. They need to decide if they are a club or restaurant.
I'm very disappointed that I was able to make a reservation for 6 at 2:45pm for a team holiday outing (food and drinks) and even made a note that it was a company holiday party, and when we arrived we were told that they were shutting down at 3pm.
This is a horrible experience and completely acceptable. Why was a 2:45pm reservation option available when the restaurant was going to close 15 minutes later? Not only that, but why we're the hours listed as 11am-11pm?
This was a disaster and there was insufficient/inexistant customer service to address this problem.
Hadn’t been to palm house in awhile due to poor service primarily but decided to give it another try. Service greatly improved and happy hour a good value. Loved the smashed avocado and good fries.
Awesome venue with fun atmosphere. Super friendly staff and affordable, delicious food. Great for a large party!
It was perfect!!
It was super loud and you couldn't hear everyone talkinh
Very disappointing experience for us. We had a reservation that was not honored or checked off in the Open Table system when we arrived. Had to wait another 30 minutes to sit down. Food and service was ok. The focus seemed to be on the drinkers in the restaurant which the bar is near the host area and was chaotic.
This was our fourth dinner at the restaurant and as usual the food was good and service was attentive but not intrusive. Our reservation was in the middle of the week, so we had no problem getting a table on the patio, where it can be noisy/loud. I would suggest sitting inside if you require quiet.
No Jerk chicken! Disappointed as one of the main reasons I booked a table 😕
Great cocktails and delicious brunch menu. Loud and busy so be prepared to wait, but definitely worth it
Service was more than amazing. The overall experience was amazing!
Good drinks, service lacks because of how busy the restaurant is.
We came to Palm House to have a frozen cocktail but they were sold out :( The smashed avocado was delicious! Our entrees were good but nothing to brag about.
The service was terrible. They forgot a lot of the food we ordered. Any self-respecting establishment would have given us a discount. I had high hopes going into this place despite bad reviews but was very disappointed.
Great spot for an easy brunch
Nice food and drinks with nice ambiance. the small plates were very good. their house made sauces were really good. Large plates were shareable.
Really cute spot. Tasty food, particularly the heirloom salad and brisket taco. Large portion is a bar, so a loud Saturday night is to be expected. Would not recommend to bring children at this time- felt bad for the family trying to get a table among the throngs of bar-goers. But overall, good experience. Will be returning!
