Service was great to say the least! Enjoyed the food and the vibe.
Definitely coming back
Overall, decent food. Service slow. Never saw our waiter again after ordering. Maybe short staffed?
They were really nice in letting us combine tables! However, the service was fairly slow after that. They also forgot one person’s order completely and it took them 20+ minutes to get it to her.
The host gentleman and the hostess are awesome. There were so many customers, lots of reservations… They were on top of everything and getting things moving. They got us the best table for our need.
Overall we enjoyed our time at the Palm House. Atmosphere was vibrant and fun. We were a party of 8 and requested to sit outside in the parklet so that we could spread out. The parklet does not have much ambiance - just chairs and old tables. Regardless, we were outside and enjoyed the fresh air and sunshine. Our reservation was for 2pm, so we could only order off the brunch menu which is very limited and doesn't provide some of the basic Caribbean options you might expect, such as jerk chicken. Overall the food and drinks were good. Next time I will go during dinner for more expansive menu.
Checked in with the host maybe 4 minutes late, asked for an outside table, he said just a few minutes so we went to the bar to grab a drink while we waited. Checked in with him twice, 45 minutes later asked him for an update. He then tells me I checked in 15 minutes late, complete lie. Asked to speak the manager, he was nice and gave us a complimentary drink. Worst host ever!
Good food, generous shots, cute outdoors. Very sticky floor inside though…
Pros: Service & Ambience
- Service: Excellent, very friendly & prompt. They brought out an adorable birthday treat as I had mentioned in the reservation that we were celebrating my birthday.
- Ambience: Awesome! We sat outside in the boat, very "selfie-friendly". I meant to go look inside to see what that looked like but forgot - whoops! We arrived just after opening on a Friday & there were a few groups already there. It was a bit awkward when they sat another party of 2 at the table right next to us because our conversation & their conversation was overlapping & easily heard. A bit of music on the patio might be a good idea. Dogs are allowed on the patio.
Just Okay: Food & Pricing
- Food: We had Brussels Sprouts, the Tradewind Burger (I think was the name) & the fried chicken sandwich. All were good, but not special, nothing to shout out to the rooftops. We mistakenly thought Brunch was being served, so we weren't really looking for Lunch, kind of had our hearts set more on their Breakfast-type items, so some of the disappointment was our own doing. The menu seemed somewhat limited in terms of protein. I believe we ordered the only 2 non-fish options on the menu.
- Pricing: Obviously was more expensive than I would've liked but it's a trendy SF restaurant so I expected nothing else.
Overall: Service & Ambiance are great! I would recommend with the condition that guests look at the online menu first to be sure there is something they want to eat during the time they're planning on going. Kind of common sense, yet somehow I messed this up, haha!
Incredible food and drinks and great service! We had a great time!
The alcohol in the punch bowl was weak but the food, service, and atmosphere were great.
Great food and drinks! Only issue is that it was very loud. Good for groups but not for intimate conversations.
Food and drinks where amazing ! My guests and i where seated fast and served quickly too but when it came to ordering more food and drinks they took a while to come and see if we needed anything else
All the staff was so accommodating and nice! Food and drinks were amazing. Shrimp tacos were life changing. So much fun!
Poor service to start, even though we had a reservation. Took 20 minutes before they even acknowledged us and even bring us water us that was after telling the host no one had greeted us. Food and drink were pretty good but service really was not great considering there are many other places we could spend our money and support other local businesses.
The cocktails and Food are always great. Great spot in a great location.
Meeting long time friends. Delicious food
A bit loud. Service a bit slow but understaffed so understandable. We were not in a schedule. Very friendly and informative waiter
Great service by both our waiters, yummy food and amazing drinks! Would definitely love recommend and go again. Fajita plates were on point!!
The atmosphere, music, and liveliness made for a fun brunch out! Would recommend
Very fun place for a late night dinner to catch up with friends.
I was a bit surprised by the lack of good service at Palm House. At first when we came to check in for our reservation the hostess said she wouldn’t be able to seat us all at the same table which is not what the woman I spoke with on the phone said. Then they didn’t have a table ready and it took another 20 minutes of us waiting after showing up on time for our reservation. What’s the point of having a reservation if they don’t set a table aside for you? It was my birthday brunch celebration, and granted I don’t expect the red carpet rolled out but the fact that I was the only person at the table that our waitress didn’t bring a glass of water to, the last to get my food by 10 minutes, and the drinks were not much of a bang for your buck was a bit dissapointing.
Palm house is always a fan favorite in our group - the food is wildly underrated and the vibe is always fun and exciting. I love stopping by this restaurant on a weekend because it is so fun! The staff were super accommodating with our larger group for our last minute change in number of people. Thank you Palm House, keep the punch bowls flowing!
Palm House is a delicious tropical treat in the heart of cow hallow. We love to come here for well made drinks and delicious bites to eat. Highly recommend the fajitas and spicy mango margarita. Yum!
This place was sooo good! Will be back in the near future!
Really enjoyed this place. My wife and kids had already been but I was a first timer. Fries, fajitas, burgers, etc were all great. Cocktails were excellent as well. We had very attentive service. They hit the Caribbean vibe they advertise but without over doing it. Will go back.
Such a vibey spot with really good food and even better drinks.
Waiters were phenomenal. Table that was chosen for us was okay. You got 3 big people occupying a small table but it’s okay. Drinks were really good balance of alcohol and sweetness. Food was great. Definitely would recommend to come again.
Catching up with friends
We got our food so quick after ordering and it was so good. Such a cute place too!
The food & drinks were great. They had indoor & outdoor dining with outdoor heaters but still cold feel a bit cold. The music playlist they had was awesome.
Service was great. My shrimp and polenta was a little too saucy and salty . And where we were sat inside was the dingiest part of the restaurant. Also, the music was way too loud and it was all 80s music vs Caribbean .
We celebrated a birthday by having lunch at Palm House. Our meal was at 1pm and we sat outside. There was some daytime construction noise at first but then it quieted. We had the SF Restaurant Week menu which was delicious, especially the rum cake for dessert.
The staff was very friendly and attentive.
Great ambiance! Refreshing cocktails and delicious dishes.
Super fun + cute. Definitely get the sweet potato fries!
Great outdoor dining just be sure to make a reservation in advance.
The outdoors experience was great! The happy hour menu and drink specials were fabulous. Such a great place to go!
Really delicious food and great service. I arrived when it was sunny out at the end of the day and it was so nice ambiance-wise. I highly recommend the avocado Katsu, but need to try basically every dish. Since what I had drink and appetizer and food wise was awesome.
The tropical influenced menu and vibe here is very fun. They have a great brunch menu and some delish cocktails.
Good overall - needed some outdoor heaters
