Pallet Ratings and Reviews
Third visit to this restaurant over three years. Has been consistent with ambiance and food and service was great until this last visit. Host/server Tyler (Princess Leia hairstyle) represents the worst of what diners often dislike about trendy , new American restaurants. Officious, cold and lacking in any customer service skills. Advice to owners; dump him because he does not match the rest of the wonderful team of waiters. We want to thank staff like Bijon, who immediately rectified the poor service and attitude we got and was so nice and accommodating to us. It was only because of this that we will keep us coming back.
Pallet surpassed my expectations and is headed to the top of my list for culinary ecstasy! You know when you put that first bite in your mouth and instantly you are taken aback by HOW GOOD IT TASTES??!!!....Yeah... that's what you get at Pallet. Pork belly- uh!mazing!!! The chicken- To.Die.For!
We love the new downtown restraunts and are always looking to try new places. This is one that we will not recommend to our friends and will not be coming back too. The service was good and the waiter spent 5 minutes explaining the full board meat and cheese plate that was over priced as it was good but not $29 good. Had some of the same meats and cheeses at Caputo's for much less. The wine was about $20-$23 a bottle wine that they charged $12-$14 a glass. Not impressed.
If you are looking for a place that creates amazing combinations of food, this is the best spot in SLC! We already had dinner here a couple of times, the menu changes seasonally with attractive choices of meals. We highly recommend Pallet to every food lover.
The food was underwhelming, the lamb was doused in seasoning that took away from the actual lamb itself, the potatoes could have been cooked more and the meatball was lukewarm. The ambiance was great and so was our server - would probably return and order a bit differently.
It was a great date night. Over priced for the amount of food you get. The elk was great my wife ordered the steak asked it for medium it was cooked to medium rare. The ceviche was amazing! It was a special of the night definitely would recommend that! Ambiance was great for a date night.
The food was not worth the price. Service was great and it’s a “cute” small restaurant, but I’d recommend somewhere else if you’re looking for a quality meal for your money. Don’t order the lamb. The tub was too sweet and overpowered the meat and the cauliflower tasted burnt. The scallops were ok, but still not great.
Pallet was the perfect place to enjoy a quiet, intimate, beautiful dinner. The food was exceptional and the service was top notch. Our only regret was that the bench seating in front of the windows didn’t have any lumbar support. The pillows placed there sort of got pushed into the open space and didn’t help. It wasn’t a huge deal because we were in a bit of a hurry to make a concert, but if we’d gone for a more leisurely dinner, it wouldn’t have been super comfortable. The restaurant is gorgeous though and and the food well worth the minor inconvenience of the seating!
Showed up with a reservation at 630pm. They were not that busy, so we were a little confused as to why they seated us between two other completely packed tables. It was a date night, so a little awkward to be sitting two feet away from a group of four gentlemen on one side ending their business dinner and another couple two feet on the other side, when there were plenty of other tables available. It was just strange that they seemed to jam as many people into the same section as possible instead of giving the dinners some privacy. So we were getting the constant backside of the people next to us into our table as they were getting in and out of their respective tables.
The food...averages out to being just ok. Meatball appetizer which wasn't warm enough in my opinion. Better meatballs up at Finca in my opinion. Elk for my date, which was good. Cooked about right and quite tasty. For me it was the lamb. I highly recommend against it. Not a good cut of meat. What meat there was was very fatty...very...very fatty. The knife they had was not sharp at all and it made it very difficult to cut, which made a disaster of my plate as I sat there scraping away to try and get any amount of meat off the bone. Just wasn't an impressive meal overall.
The waiter was nice enough, but it was slightly strange set up. He asked for our coats as we were sitting. Since we were so packed in there was no place to put them...so that made sense. What didn't make sense was after the bill came we had to walk over the coat rack and go through the coats to find ours. The restaurant had filled up more by then, so we felt a little silly digging through black coat after black coat to try and find our black coats.
Overall. Not bad. But didn't live up the the hype and wasn't worth the price for the food and service we got.
Pricey for the amount of food, but delicious. I felt the elk was over-spiced and -salted, but the meal was tasty. The pickled sunchoke was delicious! I LOVED my dessert of almond tres leches, but couldn't taste bay leaf in the ice cream and, though the thing came in a pint jar, it cost $11! Probably the most expensive single dessert I've purchased in the Salt Lake valley. Husband loved his scallops dish, but his cardamom ice cream was so subtly flavored as to be indistinguishable from vanilla ice cream to either of us.
I love this restaurant. Upon entering, the feel is warm, cozy and inviting. The server was prompt, knowledgeable and not too "hover-y". We ordered the farm salad and the carrots and were very happy with our choice. Together, we ordered the pappardelle and the scallops. They were creative, delicious, and portioned well. We got the pumpkin tart which made me almost want to lick the plate. I will go back again and again.
Went on a Thursday night and had the BEST server. Everything he said sounded amazing. We ordered the Pork Belly and Meatballs for appetizers. The Pork Belly stole the show. It melted in your mouth perfectly. The meatballs were also good. We also tried the steak which was delightful and extremely flavorful. The restaurant wasn’t too packed and they did a great job of spreading out the tables so you weren’t too close to other diners.
I have been to Pallet many times over a period of a few years. There has been a new round of high profile fine dining/New American establishments opened recently and I have been to many of the most notable, Pallet consistently delivers superlative flavors and creative menus and is under rated in comparison to the newest kids on the block. I have never had anything but wonderful experiences at Pallet again and again. Thanks!!!
This is my second trip to Pallet, and I genuinely enjoyed the experience. "Josh" was a pro and saw to our every need. The only real concern were the portions, which seem to have diminished since last I went. The boar chile verde was a taco, an amazing taco, but a $30 amazing taco. The lamb ribs looked to be slightly better off, but still not to go when famished.
