Palio - Grand Rapids
Palio is named for the famous horse race that runs through Siena, Italy twice each year. The original Palio Ristorante in Ann Arbor, Michigan, founded in 1991, includes a record of the race's winners on a mural along the back dining room wall. However, Palio is certainly not a chain-restaurant. As a Mainstreet Ventures' distinctive eatery, each Palio brand retains similarities, however, each restaurant is unique in the menu, style, ambiance, food and décor. Palio in Grand Rapids is designed with an intensity that is as wild and colorful as the horse race itself!
Palio is open for both lunch and dinner, and features a happy hour with food and drinks specials.
Kenaniah helped us with our menu choices. We appreciated his attentiveness.
Perhaps the best meal I have had in Grand Rapids. Everyone was very happy with their meal, particularly at this price point. Service was outstanding.
Celebrated my birthday with family and everyone loved their food and our service was fantastic. It was everyone’s first time trying Palio and we all left fans. Loved it!
Great service, great food & great atmosphere!
From the moment we walked in we felt welcomed. From the staff, to the food and the decor we loved it.
As always the food and service was absolutely incredible. The great wine list pairs well with the normal menu and the beer month menu. Could not recommend this restaurant more!
The food and waitstaff at Palio were amazing! It was a little noisy because my party of four came at 7pm on a Saturday night, so it was about what we expected on that level. Overall, dining at Palio was a great experience and I will definitely be back again in the future!
Very poor service from the server. Not straight up rude, just seemed to have no idea what he was doing and was not at all good at communicating. It took almost 20 minutes to get a drink (and that included water). Never asked if we wanted an appetizer, which we ordered. Told us they no longer served a wine that later we were told they did. Never brought up dessert, which we also ordered, just brought the bill. Management did their best to make up for the issues (even though we did not make it known we were displeased, they somehow knew). Food was by far the high point of the night and was very good to excellent and that goes for all 4 of our plates. We will be back for another try!
Loud, overpriced. Felt more like a sports bar atmosphere than a place to relax and enjoy the evening.
Mediocre service. Server was training a new service & continued to interrupt our dinner by talking down to her new associate. Very invasive & quite irritating for us as we work in the service industry as well. Good was good. Calamari portion was small. Entrees were good sized and everyone liked what they ordered. Sangria was mostly juice but we added our strong lemoncello and made it work. Not in a rush to return but I would done again in the future if I didn't have to be with that server again.
The service was lacking as order took awhile to get to table
Was a great night out with some old friends. It was very busy so we let the service stuff slide. Overall nice atmosphere, food was decent, lots of choices, great bar. Services was so-so. Was out of Monkey Bread, which we were all very interested to try. I'd go back. Prices were very fair if you are looking for a dinner out that won't break the bank. Knowing we were drinking we took a ride share luckily since I didn't see any "restaurant parking"
Great Italian food, good place to hang out for drinks and dinner.
Loved celebrating my Husband's birthday at Paleo! It was delicious, fun, and relaxing!
Excellent food and great service! Mel went above & beyond!
Such great food and atmosphere outside of the busy-ness of downtown GR. The only thing I would caution people about is that we did have to wait quite a while for new courses of food, so plan on a longer dinner. Well worth it, though!
Celebrated Valentine’s Day early
The restaurant wAs not prepared for the number of large groups of students dining before their winter formal dances. No food until 45 minutes after arrival.
It was very crowded so our food took longer than usual. They did make up by offering a complimentary dessert and after dinner drink.
Out of all the delicious choices, this time we chose to share a pizza and some of the sides. Got. A light lemony brussel sprout salad, corn custard, and roasted potatoes perfectly prepared and delicious. Creative entrees and pastas aside, you can make a n interesting meal out of appetizers and sides. Recommend lemon bar for dessert
Server a little slow on the uptake. Asked if refills for adult beverages but ignored the empty water glasses and carafe had to ask to get refills. Guess your tip isn’t bigger unless you sell more
Excellent food and service. Best Pasta dishes in the city. I've eaten my way through about half of the menu and everything has been exceptional. The Fettuccini Alfredo tableside is amazing.
We were really late (45 minutes) for our reservation because of weather related travel issues. From the moment we arrived, our server and the kitchen did everything they could to make sure we made the symphony concert on time. Our meal was exquisite, and they helped us by bringing our bill early so that we wouldn’t have to wait. We couldn’t have asked for anything more than the excellent service we received.
I never got to experience the wonderful food I had herd so much about. Because I arrived for my reservation at 7:30 PM to find the doors locked! I had called around 1pm and confirmed my reservation and they said I was all set. I drove an hour for a friends birthday dinner to find they had not called or emailed me to let me know that they were closing for the weather. I understand closing for the weather but the least they could do is call the reservation and let them know! I found out after I was there by looking at thier facebook
Calamari was excessively salty. Pasta meals were good, but not outstanding. Service was great.
Food and service was great
My best friend and I spent the weekend in Grand Rapids. This Italian restaurant was super yummy! The atmosphere was peaceful and inviting.
Truly the best pizza ever> Chunky fresh tomato sauce vibrant: goey mozzarella with chunks of roasted vegetables spicy herby sausage and fluffy meatballs> a thin crisp crust that is also tender> Sides of garlicy broccolini Just one of many incredible meals we have enjoyed> It"s like being in an episode of Top Chef> Don"t forget the refreshing lemon dessert> Super servers make sure everything is right> Unfortunately the noise level is cacophonous even one third full> As more arrived it became almost painful as we shouted to be heard> Carpet would make a big difference> Noise level marred an otherwise great meal> Go anyway >>go early> or carry out>
Usual good food, but for some reason our waitress did not offer us dessert. We also didn't get the limoncello we have come to expect. Have you ended that practice?
It was a great first experience. We will go again!
great place, very reliable : we go back easily with friends and refer new people. excellent managers all the time . good prices
Wonderful food and service. I particularly appreciated how great they were about splitting food. Sometimes when you can’t make up your mind, it works well to split a couple items. That is exactly what two of us did and the items came to our table all split for us. Will definitely return here.
Really incredible food, was very happy I choose to come for my birthday. For sure will be coming back.
Everything was awesome except the reservation. Asked for table at 6:45 and was offered a high top at 7:15. Table wasn’t ready until after 7:30. Food and wait staff were amazing. Entrees can get expensive, but ours were worth it!
Great menu, staff and food is outstanding! Even being New Years eve the servers were cordial and professional.
We had lovely service and they were very accommodating on New Year’s Eve the busiest night of the year! Everyone enjoyed the eggplant Parmesan
Food was amazing. Service was the best I’ve ever received. Will definitely be back with more people next time!
Birthday celebration! Service was good from our waitress!
My friends and I get together once per year when we are all back home for the holidays. Food was inspired and atmosphere was perfect for our annual celebration and chit chat.
