Palio - Grand Rapids
Palio is named for the famous horse race that runs through Siena, Italy twice each year. The original Palio Ristorante in Ann Arbor, Michigan, founded in 1991, includes a record of the race's winners on a mural along the back dining room wall. However, Palio is certainly not a chain-restaurant. As a Mainstreet Ventures' distinctive eatery, each Palio brand retains similarities, however, each restaurant is unique in the menu, style, ambiance, food and décor. Palio in Grand Rapids is designed with an intensity that is as wild and colorful as the horse race itself!
Palio is open for both lunch and dinner, and features a happy hour with food and drinks specials.
Ben was the best server!!! So many dishes I want to try- will be back!
Another great experience at Palio!! We will be back again very soon!
We had a large group for dinner this past weekend and had a great experience at Palio. Great food, they accepted our reservation and table was ready when we arrived, and our server was very friendly and helpful. We will certainly return!
We celebrated our son’s birthday here the other evening and couldn’t have been treated any better. I had booked on OpenTable and requested a birthday dessert which they presented at the end of our dinner. It was pretty, shareable and delicious. The appetizers and entrees were good too and the service was exemplary! We had Allen, and he couldn’t have been more charming and accommodating. The manager also came over and checked on us. Very nice experience. We will return.
Ben was an incredible server. He was super knowledgeable, patient, and the order came out perfectly! Good food.
Food is consistently very good!
Changes have been made in the kitchen since spring. Recipes have changed not for the better I think. Cost-cutting evident. Previous deep rich sauces and food redolent with herbs and spices have become Bland. Meatballs have gone from tender and fluffy with herbs and deep rich flavored sauce to chewy and Bland with a chopped fresh tomato sauce. Salmon has changed to the typical Atlantic farm-raised. Pasta with a little chicken was very creamy but bland. Mezzaluna with a short rib sauce needed herbs and some acid in the sauce like wine to counteract the richness and oiliness. Very good server and very good coffee and dessert. However, we miss the previous recipes and quality. Pizzas apparently good as they were ordered a lot in the room. Hope they are not giving the pizzas priority. We used to endure the cacophonous atmosphere because the food was so expertly prepared. Will try again.
Good food and good service
Excellent experience, very good food. Definitely would come back.
We took my parents and 10 month old for a later dinner and drinks. Everyone loved their food and we had a blast! Highly recommend!
Best Italian food~
Fun night with friends in a calm and quiet atmosphere.
Service was excellent and menu choices plentiful.
Great dinner, terrific service. Not right on the downtown "strip" but close enough. Very reasonable prices. Definitely recommend.
A perfect anniversary dinner!
We celebrated my husband’s birthday at Palio. There were 6 in our party and we had a wonderful time! They have a fettuccine Alfredo dish that they bring a wheel of Parmesan cheese tableside and swirl the pasta in it. We ordered that as an appetizer so everyone could try it. It was so rich and creamy. For dinner, I had the mezzaluna - beef short ribs with ravioli- and it was amazing!! Like, crazy good! I will be going back again!
Everything was great. The only thing that I had gotten feedback from my group on was that parking was a bit challenging
The food was outstanding!! I had the carbonara, which is served tableside, and it was one of the best I’ve ever had!! We sat outside and the weather was beautiful, as was the atmosphere!! We’ll be eating there again!!
Varied and innovative menu. A treat for the tastebuds.
Have been here three times and never disappointed.
Professional wait staff.
I have never had a bad meal here or bad service. The staff always seems happy to have you and the food is always delicious.
Everything was OK but thought the food was lacking flavor EXCEPT the caesar salad was GREAT!
Portions were decent sized too:)
Celebrating my birthday and Food was amazing, not really set up for large groups but we made it work . Will def go back for the pollo Marsal!!!!
We had a great time at Palio! It needs more credit! I have never heard of it before searching for something new. My husband had the carbonara and I had a chicken dish stuffed with goat cheese and topped with figs and pancetta. Mouth watering! We will be back!
All around fantastic experience at Palio! The service was very good, the atmosphere and vibe was very authentic and sincere, and the food was truly incredible. Definitely would highly recommend to anyone looking for a night out at a inviting restaurant with exceptional food. Palio has never disappointed yet!
The food was amazing! The service was great and I will definitely be going back!
We like the place
The food was average
Pizza is pretty good
Spaghetti was not good and bland with no taste
Nick did a great job with his service and menu recommendations. The whole team was friendly and made our party of 7 feel right at home.
Great food and
Nice place - great food - the atmosphere was pleasant and quaint
Very Good Food. Excellent service. Alex is a very knowledgeable and customer focused server.
The restaurant was great but I never got credit for my Open table visit on my account. Not happy!
Only the food brings you back. From the moment you walk in to the time you leave, the cacophony only gets worse. By the time we left, we had given up trying to hold a conversation. Delicious, creative dishes. D a u n t i n g atmosphere. Maybe take out next time.
The hostess was nice, our waitress was very attentive, and the food was pretty good.
First time diner. Mikaela was excellent! We will be back!
Makayla was our waitress and she was amazing, my son (4 year old) was a little smitten with her. Overall everything was wonderful!!
We really love this restaurant! It was super loud this last visit. The service was a little slow, because they were so busy. My husbands steak was not good quality. My father-in-laws steak was very good though.
We did tell our waitress about the steak. All the other entrees and appetizers were fantastic.
We will definitely be back!
Service was not super attentive. Food was ok but nothing that would tempt me to go back.
Food was great, the building itself was pretty loud. It was hard to hear with our party of 6. Probably a better place to go with just 2 people.
food is very good but at least give me a piece of bread, Am not interested in a fancy basket with oils and seasonings, just plain bread and butter to assist in me spaghetti consumption.
Everything I've had has been good. My favorite overall is the eggplant parmesan. The spaghetti is sometimes well over aldente but I like the spice level of the pasta and the crunch of the eggplant.
Good authentic hand made food. Food took a bit of time to make it to our table but it’s also 7pm on a Friday so it’s kind of expected. We really enjoyed our food and the complimentary shot at the end. Service was fantastic and we will be back!
