Great atmosphere and Martino is an amazing host. We had a large group which made it difficult for 1 waiter to manage but great job all round and very good food.

Has reservations on a Friday at 6:30 and when we arrived, we were the only ones in the dining area. I was pretty worried but we were already there and hungry. The food was fantastic! I had the pertale sole which came with garlic mashed potatoes and thin string beans. My partner got a meat pizza which was also very good. Our server wasn’t outstanding but in his defense, he was new. They bring awesome chewy and crusty bread before your meal but no one told us about the dispenser of oil and balsamic vinegar on the table. The server really should have shown us what it was. We figured it out but the vinegar was inside the bottle and a little tricky. If we had to eat there again I wouldn’t have a problem but there are so many other places to try.

Second time we have been to this restaurant for lunch. Enjoyed our meals on both occasions. A bit pricey, but well worth it. Would definitely go back.

Great food, great service. I have been here before and my girlfriend and I wanted to go for a second time. We were greeted by the owner, who sat us immediately. We had an entre that we ordered last time that wasn't on the menu. We asked about the that entre and they said they would make a special request for us. Super nice people, great food, good wine and good overall service. Would comeback again!

The wine list wasn't extensive, but there were some great choices. The lobster ravioli was delicious, and the risotto of the day (scallops) was fantastic! We went here for no particular reason, but it would be a great spot for a special occasion. There was plenty of seating for large groups, also.

We were meeting friends later to go to a show, so we had to eat early and this was close to the hotel. Arrived about 5:40 and we were the only ones in the restaurant...kind of sad. Looks like they expect few people so there was only one waiter. Once two other tables were filled, the service got a bit slow. The food was not bad, not great. If you're in the area, it's fine, but there are so many great places in SF, cannot say this is your best option. In retrospect, we should have sat in the bar with the happy hour menu and saved some money. They pizzas did look and smell good, but we had pasta and salad.

I chose Palio because it was close to my hotel and had fairly good reviews on Open Table. I had the halibut special, which was dry. I liked the fennel/orange/radicchio/mint salad, but the large pieces of mint were too much--should have been smaller and more subtle.

I've been twice this week; I don't think it'll become part of my normal lunch rotation. The food was solid and well priced, the restaurant is quiet, and the seating is well suited to business meals. That said, the service was quite slow — sometimes it seemed slow out of deference (like they didn't want to interrupt our conversation) rather than because the kitchen was slammed or some other reason. For lunch, in particular, I hope they'd speed it up.

Will probably try again sometime, and might change this assessment.

Avoid, avoid, avoid!
I should have known when I could make a 7:30 reservation on a Friday night that something was not quite right. We arrived on time and the place was nearly empty. Maybe two other tables sat. Our waiter was less than professional, not attentive and service was ridiculously slow given that we were the only people in the place.

The food was underwhelming, poorly executed and bland. Our order of carbonara was alfredo with limp bits of pancetta. Not a trace of egg, no black pepper and the worst part is that was served tepid. None of our entrees were well prepared or seasoned and just tired and boring.

The worst part was when the waiter and bus boys started to reset the dining room while we were still eating. They were rolling out banquet rounds and chairs, talking in loud voices like we weren't even there.

Overall I was embarrassed by the entire experienced. I have never seen such open contempt for the paying customer in my life.

I am also disappointed by the glowing reviews on Opentable for this joke of a restaurant. It makes me question the validity of the reviews and will have to validate restaurants by other review sites in the future.

My brother was visiting and staying at the Omni Hotel. The restaurant was around the corner. Tables are far enough apart to have a nice conversation. Two members of our group were vegetarians, there are great choices for meat eaters and vegetarians. I had the eggplant parmigiana and was the best I ever had, it melted in your mouth. A nice place and reasonable prices.
