Hemsley created Palette to showcase his lifelong interest in art through a dining experience. Palette's creative cuisine centers Hemsley's "Cal Coastal" cooking style rooted in fresh, seasonal produce driven by talented and diverse seafood purveyors along the California Coast.
At this time we are offering outdoor dining on our terrace only. Indoor dining is expected to reopen when COVID restrictions are lifted.
Due to new Covid restrictions our last seating will be at 8pm and all guests must be done with their experience no later then 10pm. Thank you for understanding.

Food was really unusually good.
As always… AMAZING! TERRIFIC! Avery has easily become our favorite bartender! He’s so knowledgeable and easy going! We’ll be back…next week haha!
Excited to have dinner in the main dining room!
Our experienced was superb. It was what our group needed. Terrence was our server and he’s excellent along with Victor. Food was phenomenal. Place is very chic and trendy. Highly recommended.
I always enjoy Palette. They feature imaginative food in an interesting setting. This time we needed to eat in their outdoor facility, which is not as attractive as the main restaurant. And their art gallery was closed for a private party. This removed some of the great things about dining at this restaurant. Still, the food and service was at fine as always.
Girls night out
The service was attentive and well timed. The roasted oysters were great and the black cod was excellent. We enjoyed a cheese plate and chocolate gelato for dessert. We will be back. Beautiful space too!
This place has reimerged as a significantly better restaurant than was there before. The prior restaurant was fabulous, but this one is next level. They have excellent nutritional and flavorful selections regardless of whether you are a vegetarian or a flexetarian like me. (Just means I eat whatever I want but I focus on nutrition first).
Food's absolutely amazing, the service attentive. I understand that it's a fine dining place but the entree portion sizes could be a tad larger.
My partner and I decided to try the Gallery dining experience this time, as we thoroughly enjoyed the Terrace dining experience last time we ate at Palette. Each experience has its own drink and food menu to choose from. It’s a cocktail forward experience. I got the Slap & Tickle, and it was amazing! We ordered the vegetable tempura, bone marrow dish, lamb sliders, and a few other items. All were fantastic, and I recommend that anyone who has tried the Terrace dining experience most definitely try the Gallery dining experience too! The ambiance was very accommodating as well—upbeat music, and beautiful art and floral arrangements to look at. There was never a dull moment
Nothing exceptional that would justify 4 or 5 starts.
Amazing service, dishes were inconsistent quality. Avoid turnip dish at all cost, duck tacos, miso cod were delicious. Bean salad was good too. Peach galette was very mediocre, excessively candied.
excellent food, service and overall vibe! cant wait to go back.
We got the beet tartare, summer bean salad, and squid ink pasta from the Terrace menu. All were beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. Great ambiance, dim light and lots of blue. We sat at the bar and enjoyed chatting about the history of Palette with the bar tender. Don’t forget to check out the exhibit in the gallery before you go. Small, but interesting pieces. Wonderful wildflower flower arrangements.
Everything was great!
We had a fantastic dining experience at Palette! The food was delicious, and the service was stellar. Can’t wait to go again. Perfect date night spot!
Second visit here, this time in the main dining room for a tasting menu experience.
Once again the cocktails (inventiveness, taste and presentation) were superb and interesting
Likewise the food was excellent- from the oysters two ways, to the black cod, rare seared beef to the modern take on cheesecake for dessert
The wine list is not overwhelmingly large, but highly focused and excellent
I look forward to retaining
A very creative cocktail program sets the stage in the Gallery. The "Foraged" Old Fashioned was a hit! Dinner on the Terrace did not disappoint - a creative menu presented by a knowledgable server who was totally attentive without being intrusive. We'll definitely be back!
Disappointed there was only the late night bites available—came for oysters, left after not great drinks and no oysters.
Everything was amazing! Every item they served was unique and delicious. And every interaction with the staff was wonderful too. We will be back!
Food is amazing and services too
We had a fabulous time here! I had some concerns about a gluten allergy so I emailed the restaurant and the chef emailed me back about his menu. The drinks were fantastic, I recommend the Athena and the Palette vesper. Food was superb, we had the shisito peppers, lamb and the duck tacos. Wait staff made me feel like a princess and the timing of the dishes coming out could not have been more perfect.
Service was spectacular, can't wait for more indoor dining and full open.
A worthy successor to Lulus legacy.
The ambience was chill, after hours lounge…. a bit odd at 10pm on a Friday nite but we are emerging from Covid.
Service was very pleasant, efficient, and strangely formal. More suited to a dance club in NYC meat packing district than SF. Maybe ‘Club’ is Palettes destination.
Well worth the visit.
Pretty disappointing experience given the reviews where some people said it's Michelin star worthy..
The waiter seemed new or less experienced about the menu because he didn't recommend that many dishes, just said what was popular. He was nice but not very present after receiving our food. Also he said to order everything at once for better pacing. The entrees took about 15-20 minutes to come out so I don't think the pacing is accurate. He also said to order 3-4 bites/appetizers for 2 people.. 2 was definitely enough and the entrees are pretty big. I appreciated the sommelier who served a drink that wasn't wine and the gentleman that brought our food. After entrees it took another 15 minutes to be asked about dessert.. He didn't even bring the menu so we passed. He also said something was coming but it was 2 small sugary candies, nothing for the boyfriend's birthday though I was told he would get an eclair. I guess telling them in advance and marking on OpenTable it's a birthday doesn't matter and the waiter didn't ask if we were celebrating anything. I understand this may be asking a lot but for this calibur of restaurant, it should be better.
About the food.. the oven fired oysters were just lukewarm. The waiter said that was to melt the compound butter but we didn't experience low temperature of oven oysters at places like Hog Island. Flavor was great otherwise.
The polenta was delicious and our favorite. Very flavorful and a great portion size.
The duck and pork andouille entree was okay. It didn't look like a dish for the calibur of the restaurant or what they are trying to be.
The halibut had great flavors but it was too dry. Pretty sad.
Wouldn't come back nor recommend for a birthday/dinner. The bar inside was very bustling so maybe you should check that out instead if you're inclined.
Appetizers are around $15-20, entrees $30~each. Cocktails $15~. Corkage is $40.. Not worth it.
Possibly the best restaurant in San Francisco
It turns out that terrace seating means tables on the busy sidewalk. The indoor menu was just bar bites fare or really expensive caviar. Even the specialty drinks were not all that good. Like the cocktails, the decor was kind of amateur.
The cocktails were amazing. Really loved their Absinthe creations. Would definitely recommend the bone marrow burger, it was simply delicious..
We tried their gallery experience. The ambiance was really cozy with low lighting and perfect for a cocktail lounge.
Great evening at Palettde (at the Gallery / lounge) , awesome drinks tasty food and to top if off super nice Bartender.
We are going back very soon
Excellent, focused service; we were well taken care of.
This restaurant never disappoints. Love love everything about it. Peter always makes me feel special. Just a fabulous restaurant. The meatballs are outstanding; rabbit agnolotti melts in your mouth; duck confit tacos are over the moon; and of course their famous miso cod! Hope you guys are around for a long time.
Bait and switch. Wasn’t clear when we booked our table that we’d be in the bar without a real seat for everyone. Also limited menu that wasn’t the best. Ignored by server for 45 mins. Food and drinks were tasty though
