Paladar Latin Kitchen & Rum Bar Ratings and Reviews
Many gluten free options and amazing guacamole! The servers are always knowledgeable and usually have great recommendations. They will do their absolute best to accommodate any dietary needs. Service can be slower at times but I think that's due to the servers having large sections, which isn't their fault.
The front desk was a bit confused when we arrived. They started to show us to our table, then said that we had to wait while they tried to figure out another reservation which had not even arrived. The menu has good choices. We opted to have a salad as an appetizer but our salads and my meal arrived at the same time. My husband's meal "had been held" until after his salad was finished. The tables are close together and the place had several large groups that night so therefore the noise level was quite high. We highly recommend the mini donuts on the dessert menu. We would return but probably not on a Saturday night.
Sunday is usually a quiet night so the service was excellent and the ambience was relaxed and quiet. Guacamole and chips were excellent. My fish tacos were very tasty but I think the fish might have been breaded and fried. Have eaten there before and food is always good. Margarita was also good.
We loved our experience at Paladar! Went for a birthday dinner- didn't bother telling our server because we didn't want to make a big fuss. Best part was the appetizers- our guac and queso were sublime. Drinks were also strong and flavorful. Then moved onto mains- tacos, pork, flautas. If we had any criticism it would be that the pork wasn't seasoned enough to our liking. Our server (Michele?) was also wonderful, attentive, and had great suggestions! Great night.
The food and ambience was good, the service from the waiter just sucked. We was waiting for 15 minutes until someone actually came to the table and spoke to us. My friend ordered a drink and received the wrong drink not once, but twice. When we ask for condiments, it took another 20 minutes for that. I used to come here a lot but after this experience I will not be returning here again
They delivered our food to two other tables before bringing it to us and the drinks took twice as long as the food. But when we brought it to the managers attention she was very nice and apologetic. Overall a good meal, but not the service we had hoped for.
Decided it was time to try this place after two years in the area. It is definitely a keeper and we will return. The menu encompasses various Latin countries, done with the chef's own spin on them. I loved that there was a full page of alcoholic beverage options for everbody's tastes. I had the white sangria which was tasty but on the small side. Food options are also plentiful and prices not too steep. I tried a very intresting grilled chicken entree with veggies, yucca spaetzle and yummy kale. My hubby and son went with cuban sandwiches and fries. The chips and salsa appetizer featured plantain chips and another unique chip with the classic tortilla chips as well. Salsas were fresh and varied as well. Service was friendly and helpful. Atmosphere inside very cool and fun.
Good food, EXCEPTIONAL service, both from our attentive, but not obtrusive, waitress to the manager on duty, who took time to explain the malanga crisps by bringing out the actual vegetable and describing its preparation. It can get a little noisy when busy, but there is always an outside dining option if the weather permits. When I told them it was my dining companion's birthday, we received a complimentary dessert to mark the occasion. Been there before, will go back again.
Everything was 'just OK' which is disappointing since I used to really enjoy everything from drinks to dessert. The mojito had two mint leaves and a small slice of lime, the beef tacos which were highly recommended by the server came out with just beef and no garnishes or toppings. The server was perfectly pleasant though only stopped by to take orders and drop the check- we were never asked if we wanted a second drink or dessert. Overall, I would recommend and will return when back in town but this visit was nothing special.
Those drinking the Dark 'n Stormies thought the drink was too light and fairly expensive. Those eating the pork dishes found the meat to be dry and tough. Those who ate the skirt steak found it very good. Since all of us have eaten excellent food here before, we were a bit disappointed this evening. Service was good and we were seated promptly--we had made a reservation through Open Table, so the process worked well.
Service was poor! Waited a half hour for our drink order. Food was good however delivery of the food was poor. Brought out salads with our meal rather than as an appetizer . Forgot to bring out ordered items for a couple of our guest. We made the best of it. I don't need to go back!
My family and I have been to Paladar several times. This time, we were there for brunch. Family members have several favorites on the brunch menu, including the huevos rancheros, the shrimp and grits, and the crispy duck confit hash. We received good service.
The smoked salmon avocado toast looked interesting, so I ordered it, but I was disappointed in the outcome. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I expected. I figured that with a name like "salmon avocado" toast, there'd be good portions of refreshing salmon and avocado. Instead, there were scattered small chunks of salmon, and only a thinly applied avocado spread. The menu description didn't mention onions, but there was a generous portion of bright pink pickled onions across the top. This and other toppings that were neither salmon nor avocado dominated the "salmon avocado" toast.
We usually avoid telling restaurants when it's someone's birthday, because we're not interested in the cheesy birthday songs, the cheesy singing, or the cheesy props. At Paladar, it's okay. The waitress simply brings the honoree a nice flan with a lit candle. My daughter-in-law got a nice treat at the end of the meal.
I have always enjoyed the food at Paladar. Unfortunately, this is the second time in a row I felt the food was not that fresh, and was not presented well on the plate, nor did it taste good. The ceviche in particular (shrimp) was definitely past its prime although not bad enough to make a deal about it in front of friends. I will not be returning until I hear that things have changed.
My sister and I took our father, our grandmother, and my 7 month old daughter to Paladar for Father's Day this year. Our sever, Ryan, was fantastic. He was patient with our family, he didn't flinch when my daughter made noise, and he helped arrange things at the table so she wouldn't get to them. It's so rare that a server is so friendly and kind. I've been to Paladar before, but if this were my first time, I would go back just because of Ryan's outstanding service.
