Initial service was terrific, from the hostess who seated us to our first greetings by the assistant servers. Our actual waiter was basically noncommunicative. He wasn't unpleasant but he lacked anything approaching a personality. Thankfully, his assistants picked up the slack. The food was terrific, as was the wine, served in an appropriately timely fashion, at an appropriate temperature. My husband and I were pleased by all we ordered which included the duck breast, turtle soup, Werlein salad, and Creole bouillabaisse. All were perfectly prepared.
Wonderful place. Very neat history with Great Wall paintings of musicians. Really cool central staircase. Staff was very friendly. All food was great and excellent drinks. Bathrooms clean
Staff was super friendly! We were immediately taken care of , service was fast and our breakfast was awesome. I was a bit apprehensive about pork ‘scrap’ eggs Benedict but decided to give it a shot, glad I did for sure, different twist on an old favorite. The building was super nice also. It was very classy looking, would definitely go back.
Beautiful atmosphere with great upstairs bar. Terrific service. Highlights were the filet mignon, andouille crusted fish, duck, turtle soup, bread pudding, delicious strawberry shortcake and AMAZING Bananas Foster. Highly recommend!
Great food, exemplary service. This is a must do if you are in New Orleans. Their menu is short but the dishes are excellent. I always have a dinner here wherever my travels take me to New Orleans.
Our food was out of this world good! They special made the eggs for my Eggs Benedict just the way I like them. Best Bananas Foster around!. The servers were awesome. I would highly recommend Palace Café and will go back on my next trip to NOLA.
This was a family dinner that was held after a memorial service. The wait staff made it very comfortable and did not rush us at all.
Great brunch spot. The layout is really nice and the staff are always attentive. Try the crabmeat cheesecake!
Service was awesome, drinks were great, food was disappointing. My husband's $18 burger was rare instead of medium, my shrimp and grits were not as good as I've had at other restaurants, but I would go back for drinks.
Excellent food and music!!!
Everyone was SO NICE! I’m a native New Orleanian and have never had the pleasure of eating here until Friday! Our servers Randy and Steve were amazing. Great service, great conversation and they really made the meal extra special.
The FOOD! I’m not into spending a bunch of money on food but I would’ve paid a million dollars for this meal. We had the Fruits de mer board, ahi tuna steak, grilled mahi mahi and grilled sheepshead fish. Every bite was spectacular.
We had bananas foster and pineapple doberge for dessert which was very tasty.
THANK YOU to everyone at Palace Cafe for making my 40th birthday truly amazing!
Had the Bananas Foster which was great. Enthusiastic staff added to the enjoyment. Recommended!
Superb service. Good to excellent cuisine. Noisy.
Food and waiter were amazing! Loved everything!!! Crab cheesecake appetizer was delightful. A must eat when visiting New Orleans.
Bananas Foster made tableside is worth the trip alone!
I visit Place
Crabmeat cheesecake, shrimp tchefuncte, and bread pudding are musts. Our food was pretty tasty, and service was pretty good, but none of it really knocked our socks off this time. We sat on the 2nd story next to the front window, which was fun, because we could see everything outside below. All in all a very pleasant experience, however, I was not super impressed. Also, I know that NO is a tourist town, but some of the patrons were taking "casual" a little too far for what is referred to here as "casual elegant" dining with 4.5 stars.
Delicious food, excellent service, friendly waiters
Great breakfast buffet! Great selection.
This was our 2nd visit to the Place Cafe. Everything was wonderful. We arrived early, and discovered the upstairs bar, which had specials and live music. The food was wonderful, especially the Duck wings, which I highly recommend. The Bananas Foster was also delish, and we got a history lesson on its origin as well.
We had an early reservation to avoid the crowded dinner rush. Our waitress was not attentive and I assume that to be the reason for our shrimp and duck dishes seeming to take so long to prepare, then given to us to eat cold.
We enjoyed the Jazz brunch. Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time. Music started at 11am.
We both enjoyed the pain Perdu. I normally don’t prefer a sweet breakfast but I didn’t find it extremely sweet and it was delicious.
Service was efficient. We did feel a tiny bit rushed at the end but decided to ignore it.
Would recommend, would return.
The food was fantastic and the servers were very attentive!!!!
We will be back!
Front of the house did an amazing job of making us feel welcome and even accommodated a last minute special request that made the whole meal feel even more special. Our only major complaint was that it took a very long time to receive our bill and settle up so much so that the people paying did not leave the amount of tip they normally would had this issue not arisen at the very end. One guest even indicated the issue spoiled what was otherwise a great meal. I personally would not go that far, but it did feel odd to get ignored after initially receiving such fine service from the front of the house and our food/drink team. I got the feeling we annoyed our food person for reasons that I do not understand (and I am not sure I should even be aware of his sentiments).
We went for Saturday brunch. Service was very helpful when ordering and knowledgeable of menu. Shrimp and grits were delicious. Eggs Benedict with pulled pork was also very good
We arrived at 10:30 for Saturday brunch and ordered a Bloody Mary and a Mimosa from the bar. The drinks were custom-made using our preferred infused alcohol and juice choices. We topped the drinks with fresh fruit and veggies to complement. Fun to choose and tasty! Our serving team was outstanding! They recommended excellent choices and checked on us regularly, as the restaurant filled. We enjoyed the food and shared a dessert - a HUGE slice of rum cake with ice cream and sauce. A jazz trio strolled the restaurant playing requests. Loved it!
Waitress was rude and rushed through the meal. It was a business meal so I decided not to make a scene. I will not be back.
Great atmosphere, beautiful bar, excellent food. They could do a little better with their sides as far as portion goes but you won’t leave hungry. Crème brûlée is one of the best I’ve had.
The Shrimp Tchefuncte was amazing. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. The table by Canal street has a good view of the hustle / bustle next to the French Quarter.
Great service and food!
Come here every time I’m in nawlins
Had a lovely meal. It was a bit loud but we knew that going in.
The Shrimp Tchefuncte was great!. THe bread is warm and crusty with a soft inside, Great Gumbo!
I’ve eaten at Palace Cafe 15-20 times and never had a bad meal or experience. Their eggs Benedict are awesome as well as their special bread pudding. It’s always at the top of my list when I go to New Orleans.
Was in town for a bachelorette weekend and decided to go here for dinner with my gals. The service is impeccable. When we asked our waiter what he recommends and he swore on the Andouille Crusted fish and I am still here post-vacation thinking about how amazing that dish was. Loved the atmosphere and service was quick and attentive. Thank you for the good time!
Always a delicious experience!
True New Orleans dining experience inside and out !!
Great service. I accidentally gave the dinner guests wrong time and they were quick and easy to accommodate us. Amazing service actually!
Palace Cafe never disappoints. Appetizers and salads are excellent. Their mainstay dishes are always very good.
We sat upstairs, which was a little quieter than entry level. Place is huge, buzzy, fun. Reminded us of La Coupole in Paris, but with better food! Fried oysters were delectable, pecan crusted catfish was yummy, and bananas Foster were to die for. A really fun place!
