The food was notable and the staff was gracious. We enjoyed the atmosphere of Canal street through their large panoramic windows.

Hostess is obnoxius, very aggresive. Despite having a reservation kept us standing for 15 minutes with many empty tables. We complained and it wa obvious that she forgot and was not paying any attention. Waiter recites a discourse qith a very string accent and no intention of being understood. Had to repeat orders because he was distracted and not paying attention. Quality of food very basic for the pricy. Overall very overrated restaurant.

Great food and service. The two-story dining room is very impressive. I had the Watercress salad and Shrimp Tchefuncte. Both delicious. Our servers were very courteous and attentive. Would definitely return on my next trip to New Orleans.

I was looking for late lunch - early dinner and this place was across the street from my hotel. I️ had the catfish and it was delicious. It had a fragrant sauce and was on top of a squash medley with thinly sliced onions with rice on the side. Also had warm crusty bread that made me happy. Sooooo good.

We returned because of the amazing food and service here. And we were not disappointed. The duck breast was delicious and the foie gras just melted in your mouth. We ordered a meat and cheese board to start and it was amazing, as was the dessert. We made a few changes to the cheese selection and the staff were very willing to accommodate. Outstanding service.

One of the most consistent restaurants in New Orleans. The crabmeat cheesecake is a must have, Shrimp Tchefuncte is a can't miss and Banana's Foster is always a good finisher. The dining room can be a bit loud but not ear splitting. Just had the Andouille crusted gulf fish and is was a pleasant experience.

We used to love coming here years ago, before we had kids. This was our first time back after 10 yrs and we were nervous about bringing our three young kids, but really wanted to eat here again. I am happy to report that everyone had a great time! Wonderful food and atmosphere, and turns out there’s a nice kids menu too!

I really have always loved Palace but maybe an off night. Service was just way off. Tables all around getting served. It took 45 min to get first course. The fried green tomato in the shrimp remoulade was soggy from sitting too long. Our soup was also not hot. The main course of andouille crusted fish was fantastic. We were offered the dessert menu before the main course came out. The left hand clearly wasn’t communicating with the right. I won’t give up on Palace. But, Saturday night wasn’t their best.

In a few words the dining experience was disappointing. The restaurant is large having two floors. We were seated on the first floor almost under their stairwell, directly against a pillar supporting the stairwell. The service was friendly but inconsistent. The food was fair at best. The one exception was the crab claws appetizer. They were small in size, but delicious. My wife ate half of her filet entree, and took the remaining half home. I tasted a slice of the leftover the next day, and I decided that it belonged in the trash can. It had a very “unusual” taste.
I chose their only Barolo on the wine list. It too was not good. Oh well! C’est la vie!
There are many good restaurants in New Orleans. Try them, not this one.

I was not expecting a brunch menu as I have only been there weekdays in the past. I really should have just left. I did have a spicy, perfect Bloody Mary. The gumbo not so great. The rice was like mush. The few shrimps as well. The bo was only a cup of soup. Not worth the price. I expected live music, but there was none.

Our beverage server Alison was amazing! Great prices for happy hour too. I ordered the boullabaise for dinner and it was delicious, a mild twist on the traditional. For dessert we had the chocolate turtle cake, which was recommended to us and it was just amazing! I would definitely return to this restaurant.

Disappointed beyond belief. We were seated and that is where we waited and waited and waited. Finally the secondary waitress who was drink only came over. Tried to ask about soup and were told “I don’t do that”. So we waited and waited and waited again... (our waitress had 2 tables around us parties of 6 or more with cocktails) so she was trying to make coin. I get this but a simple I’ll be with you shortly or kiss my grits or something. VERY DISAPPOINTED. No one even spoke when we got up to leave. Will not be back.

It is hard to describe the experience. The fried oyster appetizer was cold, but was still tasty. Gumbo was good and the turtle soup was delicious. The filet was good, but side dishes were bland and cold. The shrimp dish was just warm but flavorful, however the listed popcorn rice seemed like just plain rice. The desert cake tasted like it had been around for a while and the rum sauce was cold and sticky. Service was friendly and efficient, but took a while to notice we were there. So, eating at the Palace Cafe was ok, but nothing special.

We went to a Jazz Brunch to celebrate my mom's birthday. The musicians were great and came over to each table to talk to the guests. My mom was thrilled when they sang a song for her -- it was definitely a highlight of her trip. The restaurant has a great vibe. The music was good, the food was good. The only thing we found lacking was the service. We had to ask for things more than once and it took a long while to get things sometimes. Not sure my mom ever did get her coffee refilled. That aside, it was a really enjoyable experience. We'd definitely go again and recommend it to friends looking for a Jazz Brunch.

Here’s the thing, this is quintessential Nola. Historic feel in a lively fun setting. jazz musicians playing in the spiral staircase during Sunday brunch. Good food, just what you would expect with better than average, slightly stuffy but just-enough-to-make-you-feel-special service. The crab “cheesecake” which is basically crab quiche, aloneness is worth the trip.

We went to Sunday brunch at The Palace Café, and it was so yummy! I had the croque madame which was very rich and delicious. Others with me were very pleased with the Palace eggs benedict with pork debris. The Palace Café had a wonderful mimosa and bloody mary bar set up that looked very intriguing. I would have definitely imbibed if I didn't have a full day already planned.

There was a jazz trio playing music downstairs. It may have been a bit too loud if we were down there, too. Fortunately, we were upstairs and the music was just right.

The service was super attentive, but not disruptive.

We had a group of 14 for dinner. The service was excellent given the size of the party, and the food was delicious. We picked this restaurant to get a local flavor with a reasonable price.

Most of our party got a seafood dish and the feedback was outstanding on the food. The ambiance and interior is gorgeous!

Had the crab cheesecake. Delish! Will not share it next time!. Fried oysters were plump and tasty.
Main course was andouille crusted fish. It was OK.
Desert- banana foster and bread pudding. Loved the bread pudding. Has a different texture than the regular one. This one is more like a pudding.
Banana foster was tasty.

I live in New Orleans but hadn't dined at Palace Café in several years - I are there a lot immediately after Katrina because it was one of only a handful of restaurants open downtown. This place has gone DOWNHILL - it is completely a tourist trap now. I scheduled a business lunch here because of the location. It was a total embarrassment. I ordered tomato soup that tasted like it came straight out of a can and a fried oyster salad that was inedible. I couldn't even find our server after the salad was dropped off so I ate a few pieces of lettuce and then just had bread. They did take the salad off of my bill after I finally noted the problems to our server who finally appeared 20 minutes later. I will not be back

Let me say the food was delicious, and the service was cordial but very slow, we had a party of 12 so you do expect a delay because of the size of the group, but we got there at 6:30 and were not finished until 9:40 and we skipped dessert, which we all would have liked to have for fear we would be there another hour. It took almost 40 minutes between soup/salad and entrée, way too long. Other than that the venue was beautiful, the live music was nice and not too loud and the food when it was finally served was delicious.

Lead server was excellent and overall the service was very good. The food was fine but not extraordinary in a city filled with extraordinary food. The savory cheesecake was dry and bland. Claim to have invented shire chocolate bread pudding but it was simply ok, and if it didn’t have milk chocolate mini chips sprinkled on top it would have had no flavor. Slab presentation was nice. Salad was delicious and my party enjoyed their steaks.
