There was a very long wait for our entrees and a fillet was brought out with crawfish despite being told of a shellfish allergy and requesting just the fillet and vegetables be served plain. The rest of us had to eat our plates before our fish got cold and we were finishing our plates by the time the new fillet was brought. It would have been nice if bread had been brought out while she was waiting for her new fillet. Or if anything else had been offered. It just put a poor note to an evening when I had convinced her to order the fillet she wanted, stating that it looked like a kitchen capable of catering to food allergies. Clearly not. Wish we’d just sent all of the plates back at that point and paid for our appetizers and drinks. Not impressed.
Excellent food. Quick service although not rushed
lunch was delicious. I had the pork pot pie - again. Always delicious.
Palace Cafe was wonderful! I plan on coming again after my graduation with my family so I wanted to try it out first. The place itself is beautiful. The service was also excellent. My duck I ordered medium rare and it came out rare, but there was no issue having it sent back and cooked a little bit more. Also, my dessert order was wrong, but they fixed that quickly as well. They also provided us with frozen banana fosters on the house. I can't complain at all!
Amazing meal in a landmark
We are locals and have many great restaurants to choose from. We all had great drinks and food. The service was wonderful. Can’t wait to go back.
Food was average at best.....
Dinner salad was aweful, entree was lukewarm, dessert was ok ! Definitely was disappointed. I ate here years ago and it great ! Was looking forward to trying it again, but food has really gone downhill.....
We hit Palace Cafe at 9pm right after arriving in town; the place was hopping! It was a good thing we had reservations. The restaurant was very loud and noisy but the people watching and cool decor was worth not being able to necessarily talk to each other. Not to mention, once the food hit, we didn't want to do anything but eat. Food was delicious! And if you want to top of your meal the right way, order the Bananas Foster. It is made table side and soooo yummy!
Best restaurant we’ve been to in New Orleans, so far. Great food quite noisy.
One of the nicest servers I’ve ever met, Nikki is really sweet helpful and upbeat- she seemed to genuinely love the food and brightening tourists’ days.
I asked for a special “off menu” half portion of pain perdu (French bread French toast with fresh berries and chopped pecan-caramel-bourbon sauce) cause I also wanted shrimp n grits - delicious in a mushroom scallion somewhat spicy brown sauce , grits nice and cheesy and stone grown artisan quality.... also orange juice is fresh squeezed. The pain perdu by the way was really delicious and if I hadn’t gotten full I literally would have spooned rest of sauce ...(barely restrained myself). Seriously considering returning tomorrow
The vibe is charming laid back and casual but elegant (totally worth walking a few blocks vs insipid hotel restaurant options where I’m staying)
Great food and great service. Went on a Sunday brunch outing and enjoyed the Bloody Mary Bar.
Great food and desserts. Also if you are there for breakfast, make sure to try the Bloody Mary Bar
Exceptional service. Delicious food.
Wonderful spot to grab brunch on sunday while in New Orleans. Fun bloody mary & mimosa bar! Can't wait to go back!
Our party of six had the catfish with pecan sauce and the duck which were just average dishes. Two of us ordered the andouille crusted fish which was unfortunately just not good at all. The star of dinner was the fried oyster appetizer and the only item I would recommend. Maybe we were there at an off time at the end of the day but there’s too much consistently good food in New Orleans to waste a meal here.
The food was not very good and it seemed like they rushed us in and out. Not many items to pick from, the gumbo didn't taste good and the fish special seemed like to was just thrown on a plate.
Unfortunately we did not really enjoy our meal that much. It took 25 minutes to get cocktails and they even brought our appetizers before the drinks arrived. The manager picked up our first round of drinks but the tone was set. Most enjoyed their appetizers but their fish of the day was off the mark and the duck was served cold.
Sitting on Canal street eating is a fun experience, especially when the food is so good. We were three people: one chose the breakfast buffet, and the others off the menu. All the food was excellent and the service great.
Food was bland and dessert took forever to arrive. Even though we had a wait “team” our head waiter seemed preoccupied most of the night.
Have never found a creme brûlée to rival Palace Cafe’s. The crab claws are outstanding as well.
A bit noisy with decent food. It wasn’t great for the comparable restaurants in the area. Location was great and staff was excellent so overall it was a good New Orleans dinner.
Came after dinner elsewhere for dessert...bananas foster table-side can't be beat! Great location right on Canal Street is the gateway to the French Quarter. Great staff--makes every visit feel like a special occasion.
Friendly and courteous staff. Great suggestions by staff. Crab cheesecake was delicious! Food overall was yummy!
Was there for my husbands birthday
The ambiance and the interior is awesome, kinda Art Deco
The food was stellar
Out server, amazing
Overall would eat there again
The crabmeat cheesecake was knee slappin’ good !! You’ve gotta try it!! Our server, Dria, was an absolute doll. She recommended the special soup of the day, shrimp bisque...another knee slappin’ good dish. 5 stars for the food and service!!!
We celebrated a birthday and the Easter holiday with family at The Palace Café and enjoyed every minute. The Banana Foster was my FAV!
The food was good, service was ultra rushed. We went at 9pm with a reservation, they must have closed at 10. They rushed us and took food away and dropped bills before we finished. I would go again but just brunch perhaps.
Excellent service. All the staff worked together to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed.
Loved the decor of this place.
The food and service was great. The ambiance was also very nice. I would definitely return.
The food was definitely the best part! We went for brunch and it was awesome with the jazz band walking around serenading the tables. The alcohol was over priced, but I’m not surprised. Our server was somewhat slow in getting the orders and drinks started, but it was a busy time at the restaurant. Overall, very good! I’d definitely go again.
Enjoyed a great meal at Palace Cafe during the Saturday Jazz Brunch. The atmosphere was amazing! Food was decadent and delicious, with a Bloody Mary bar serving infused vodka.
Our server Allison was a treat and when we go back, we'll ask to sit in her section.
We were greeted with a terse "How many?" I told them of our reservation for 1130 lunch.
There were no smiles, nothing to welcome us to a fantastic Birthday lunch experience.
We were lead to our table across carpet littered with street debris and remnants left by past diners.
Our waiter recited the specials and took our drink orders.
Bread and butter was delivered with our drinks. There was no knife in one of the napkin rollups.
The crab cheesecake had a fishy aftertaste.
The andouille crusted gulf fish was okay but the farm vegetables were some overcooked and undercooked.
In the restroom there was a roll of toilet paper on the corner of the sink to dry your hands as there were no paper towels.
My husband and I really enjoyed the whole dinner experience here. As tourists we didn’t know what to expect but based on prior reviews we decided to try it for dinner. We Loved everything!! Our wait staff had Josephine for drinks and Jessica for our food order. They were both amazing and knowledgable on everything on the menu. Our rum drinks were delicious and my catfish was cooked just right with enough spice to give a great flavor. The pecans were seasoned just right as well to go with the catfish and were very crispy. All in all a great experience and highly recommend this place.
My fiancé, parents, and I came to New Orleans on vacation the Palace Cafe was recommended as a place to come. Our server Devon was great but that is basically the best I can say. We had selected a few appetizers off of the menu to share. When ordering we were told one of them, the eggplant, was not available because the chef did not want to make it. Then when ordering the main entree my fiancé duck came out wrong the he had asked to substitute mashed potatoes for vegetables which seemed pretty straightforward but it came out with the mash. So it went back then when it came out the second time the duck was cold. Back it went. The third time the manager brought it out he asked was this a new dish or just the previous one reheated the manager said it was just reheated. Reheated duck becomes rubbery which is exactly what happened. Thanks no thanks.
Great all around
Recommended by a couple people. Disappointed with food, presentation and overall experience. The only plus was service.
Terribly disappointed! Last time we were there we had a lovey dinner with great ambiance. Tonight the sound level was terrible. Tour guide on microphone to her tables where everyone had to yell over the table to talk. Food was mediocre at best. They need to go back to their tradition. Will not return there, unfortunately.
The food was delicious and the service by Jada was also exceptional. My husband enjoyed the breakfast buffet and I ordered Shrimp and Grits. We ALWAYS plan a meal at Palace Café when visiting Nola!
Excellent service, amazingly delicious food set in an elegant and modern look!
Very disappointing-food was less than stellar. Service was annoying.
