Pakpao Thai - Design District
Drunken Noodles - Pad Kee Mao*
wide rice noodles - onion - bell pepper - Thai basil - egg - cherry tomato
Green Curry Salmon - Gaang Keau Wann Pla
curry - wrapped in banana leaf
Pork + Holy Basil Stir Fry- Pad Kra Pow Mou
apple eggplant - sunny side up egg
Small menu but everything on it is widely popular. Would definitely eat there again.
Everything is always very fresh and flavorful.
It was very noisy and the tables are very close together.
We had reservations but when we arrived we were told they were closing early. They didn’t bother to contact us to let us know they would not be honoring our reservation. They turned away several other parties as well. A simple phone call would have saved us the trip, allowed us to find another reservation in a timely manner, and would have preserved our impressions of the restaurant (which we typically enjoy).
Worst food ever ! We ordered pork pot stickers which are traditionally steamed or pan sautéed. They arrived deep fried. I ordered Teriyaki vegetables with Tofu. The tofu had 2 grill marks, was mushy and cold. Sent it back for Drunken Noodles with chicken. The noodles ( which should be the star) were cut into 2 inch pieces and dry. To call this place Thai is a disgrace. Our waiter Alex was great and I felt sorry for him having to serve that nasty food.
Reservations required for an empty restaurant? Appetizers came out after entree? A little disappointed that most mocktails and half the bat items were unavailable (no beers on tap)…the restaurant felt under staffed.
Food was amazing, but they were out of half the menu. It was our server's first night and she left before we did, so we had pay our bill with the bartender.
We had an 8:00 reservation but weren’t seated until 8:30. Nobody approached our table until 8:41….just before we were about to walk out of the restaurant. Once we ordered our food, it wasn’t served for 35 minutes. We won’t be rushing back anytime soon.
We had an awful experience with server Jessica. There were hardly any patrons when we arrived but she was impatient with us. Her and the guy who served the dishes both told us that they no longer serve the pineapple fried rice inside half of a pineapple. The guy tried to say that they now put the pineapple inside of the fried rice instead of giving it inside of a pineapple, but even when they served the dish in a pineapple there was still pineapple in the fried rice - so that was not new. Then they contradicted themselves and said that they just did not have any more pineapples that evening. Less than 20 minutes later the table next to us ordered the same thing and received it inside of half of a pineapple 😑 On top of that, the portions were much smaller than pre-Covid times (understandable but still) and the cocktail was gross. It took at least 30 minutes from the time that she delivered our check for her to actually pick it up and then finally get it back to us through another person. She accused me of having an attitude with her and said that my friend did not have shoes on (what? - she was wearing sandals) I take it that she must've been in a sour mood before we arrived, but to take it out on customers was pretty ridiculous. I have always loved this place in the past and was excited to share it with a friend, but this experience has definitely put a sour taste in my mouth.
We live across the street and frequently eat dinner there and usually have no problem! We love their homemade lemonade, potstickers, calamari, and their food is usually top notch and great service.
For whatever reason last nights meal was a disaster. Our waiter was extremely inattentive. He didn’t come out to check on us after we placed our food orders. The bus boy, food runner, and other waiters filled our waters for us and ran our appetizers to our table. But the kicker was- our food took almost an hour to get to us after ordering. Our waiter didn’t return to our table once. And one of our orders was rang in completely wrong. By the time all of our food came we were extremely annoyed.
We did speak to the general manager, as he was the one on duty, and while he was helpful and apologetic it was clear that their ship was sinking quickly last night.
Food quality has really slipped. This started out as a restaurant I couldn’t believe served such fresh, authentic Thai food, right here Dallas. Sadly it’s settled into the mediocrity of any other strip center quick place.
While the food was tasty, the portion sizes were quite small for the price. I ordered the pumpkin curry and there was barely an inch cover the bottom of the dish. I expected double the amount for what we paid.
The outdoor ambience was OK. Service was was great.
Played loud reggae music in a Thai restaurant? I think not!
Ordered chicken pad Thai and it tasted nothing like the dish I tasted in Thailand, very sparse on the chicken and heavily loaded with spice (not noted on the menu) and vegetables not usual to the dish.
The other dish ordered was Patsi Yu and it had no taste! Sorry but we will not return !
Great experience all around.
We waited 45 minutes for the first dish. It was cold. The manager apologized and did not charge us for what was brought to that point, a couple of drinks and the cold dish. Others were served before us who arrived later. Disappointing.
This has quickly become a go-to lunch spot. Excellent service and consistently high quality food.
Turn down the volume of music!! It's so loud that it makes it difficult to have a conversation with your lunch mate.
It was a most unusual experience for Pak Pao as it has previously been a favorite! It took us over an hour to get our food at lunch. While the food was good when it finally arrived, we barely had time to eat it and get to our appointment. They were obviously short handed in the kitchen. The restaurant was no where near full. What bothered me most, and the reason for this review, is that they didn’t apologize for the ridiculously long wait.
Pork with Holy Basil was amazing, Drunk Noodles has a lot of the noodles stuck together which wasn't fun but still great taste. Now for the second time they are out of Papaya for the Papaya Salad and acted like "why would we ask". Still on the menu so will continue to try and order it! Just a great place and good food value.
Great area and very fresh food
La atención de Jessie fue espectacular!!! La comida rica y el ambiente agradable, además está en una zona muy linda
The food and service was exceptional. The only negative was the noise level. We sat outside on the patio and between the very loud music playing and other patrons, it was extremely difficult to have a conversation.
the pad thai noodles is too salty that one cant taste any other favors. The beef meats didnt taste good either bc it taste too soft.
Logan was awesome. He took very good care of us. Chef Alex’s food was amazing. We loved the drunken noodles. And we felt very taken care of when the manager Alejandro came by and checked on us. It was the first time for us but by far will not be the last time.
Have not dined at Pakpao in a while, not sure if change of ownership, but service was horrible and food very mediocre. Sorry to see, as I used to really enjoy eating here. Also, there were only 3 tables occupied and had to ask to have disco music turned down to hear our conversation.
Staff did a good job following Covid protocols. However, I made my reservation for outside seating. Upon arrival there were heaters for the outside area but was informed they did not work. Seems like something that would be reasonable to expect that if they have heaters for outside seating they would make sure they are working for folks that are hesitant to dine indoors.
Pakpao is one of my favorites in dallas. They never miss on food quality and the service is usually outstanding and good on a bad day. I have tried many items on the menu and have never been disappointed.
The food and service are consistently very good. Ditch the loud music at lunch! It's so unnecessary and my strong preference is to enjoy conversation while having my meal
Beef Jerky trio was by far the table favorite!
What happened Pakpao? My pad see eew was pale, lacking flavor, and wet for $18. The prawn dish was the same little shrimp as in the pad see eew for $34. It took 20 minutes to get drinks in an almost empty restaurant. All my favorite items on the menu are gone. Now you are just overpriced generic Thai. I am sorry to see it happen. I hope you get your mojo back and recover.
Excellent food with scattered and disorganized service. Took 25 minutes to get our appetizers - it seemed the restaurant was putting priority on to-go orders. It's amazing to me that separate checks are so befuddling in today's age of technology, but all but one of our checks was incorrect.
As for the food, it was good, with good portions and authentic flavors. Everything came out piping hot and very tasty.
Steven did a great job and the food was excellent. We'll definitely be returning.
Good food, good service. Not your typical thai restaurant. Wine list is bit on to the pricey side.
Go for the Thursday lunch drunken noodles special. Highly recommend!
Remains a very good lunch spot. Portions are sizable and prices are a bit high. However, the Monday (pad thai) and Thursday (drunken noodles) specials are reasonably priced.
Food is fresh and served hot.
We've visited this restaurant before and it never disappoints. My sister came in town from Peoria and they don't have really varying foods to choose from so I brought her her with a couple of others. You can't go wrong with anything you order from the menu. The portions are plenty and flavorful. We shared 2 appetizers and entrees. I highly recommend if you've never been or just want to try something new!
Not covid-friendly at all
From the jump the service here was pretty bad. Took an hour and 15 minutes from time we ordered to receive our meals. A cup of soup ordered as an appetizer was brought out with the meals... we were told by our waiter and the manager that they soup would not be charged since it took so long but still showed up on our bill. The waiter from what I could tell was avoiding us because the soup was taking so long but then because of this was not attentive to refilling our drinks, etc. I love the food here but the service was truly bad enough to ruin the dinner.
Always great service and food. We sat on patio and would have been a little nicer if the heaters had worked. Was a bit cool, but the staff did all they could to get heaters working.
Social distancing was above and beyond minimum requirements. However, that could have been a result of a slow night (Tuesday).
Excellent presentation, high quality service, food was amazing!
