In 1992, thrown together on Cape Cod by political circumstances none of them could have predicted, four young Yugoslavs founded Pain D'Avignon.Their goal was to recreate the Old World Traditions using baking techniques and recipes barely changed in centuries. Their founding principle: fine breads deserve to be at the center of the dining experience, not a mere afterthought. At their Hyannis bakery, the timeless art of bread making is both revered and respected. Everyday salt, flour and filtered water are combined – like the bakers themselves – with a distinctly European flavor.

Everything was great, except the live music was much too loud. It was difficult to have a conversation at our table because we couldn't hear each other talking over the loud music.

We have been eating here for years. Last night was truly a disappointing meal. I ordered the coho salmon special, and I cannot tell you how bland the entire dish was. And it wasn’t helped by the addition of salt or pepper. I barely touched the dish. On a positive side, the bread and the salted butter that they serve at the beginning of the meal is spectacular.

Overall great. Server could have had more enthusiasm for the food but was satisfactory. As always the dinner was great. The chosen dessert was not worth eating but the crème brûlée replacement was excellent. Hostess was extremely professional and genuinely cared about our experience.

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Pain D'Avignon. The food was perfect and our wait staff person provided very good food recommendations, was friendly and professional. For an appetizer we shared the mussels gratin and special salad of white asparagus and shallots. For an entree we both ordered the special, baked halibut, smashed potatoes and asparagus. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Dined with my hubby and my parents last night for the first time - it’s been on our list for a while and we finally made it. Lovely and hip atmosphere which felt like something you’d find in Boston or NYC vs on the Cape. We shared some dishes, including the onion soup (oh boy was that good), a wagu burger, baked oysters, and lobster salad. Also had a delicious and well priced French white. Ended with decaf cappuccinos and crème brûlée, also delicious. Sweet server and attentive management sealed the deal for us - we will be back soon! Oh and the little loaf of the most amazing bread that they send each guest off with is a fantastic touch (just need to find out what butter they serve as it was incredible).

We chose Pain d'Avignon as the best place to have dinner with an immunocompromised friend since besides offering the best food on the Cape, they offered outdoor dining under heat lamps. However, it had rained the day before and into the morning, so the chairs were wet. To protect my friend, they created a safe space indoors, apart from the other diners. The food, as always, was excellent, but meeting our friend's needs shows how much the restaurant cares.

The food was mediocre and very expensive. The house specialty of steak and fries was ordered by two of the four people. I requested it be served medium which I was clearly told would be slightly pink. It came out rubbery and almost raw inside. I sent it back at which point it came back completely overcooked. It was tasteless. The other person who ordered the steak frites thought hers was very tough and ate less than half. The other dishes were average. The service was inattentive and no apology was made for the steak which lists at $53 and is therefore approximately $70 with tax and tip. We ate there last year and the steak was excellent. We dine out frequently on Cape Cod where we have a second home with many outstanding dining options. Given the price $400 for 4 w no dessert no apps other than 2 salads or and 1 drink per person and the experience we will never return to Pan Davignon.

Really great find in an unexpected location next to the airport terminal. You’ll feel like you stepped into a cafe in France; food is authentic and delicious. Inside ambiance and decor is great, but as it is situated next to the airport, outdoor ambiance is not ideal for a romantic dinner / date night. Don’t take that steer you away though; the food is really fabulous.

Weekend getaway completed with a delicious Brunch. There were two items that generally are not on a brunch menu so we decided to try. The fried eggplant with poached eggs and arugula salad. You would think fried greasy . No the eggplant was crisp and delicious, and it went perfectly with the poached eggs. We also ordered the fish and chips which I have not seen on a brunch menu, and again not overly greasy the cod was tender and the coating was crisp… delish. The coleslaw had fennel and carrot which was refreshing (I don’t think it had cabbage) and the dipping sauce with the fish perfect. Needless to say we were very happy with our choices. Great service and atmosphere completed an all around perfect weekend getaway.

The food was wonderful but pricey. We sat outside which we really enjoyed, but we were a bit chilly until they turned the heaters on. (We didn’t ask because we thought they were already on; whoops! We’ll inquire next time!) The bread was not the greatest, but all the other food including the drinks were lovely. I think the price was slightly high but the portions were larger than some other restaurants that charge the same price. Overall, I’d go back if someone else asked or maybe during the busy season but I don’t think it’d be my first choice.

A slice of lemon with pulp made by drink impossible. upon asking again for a twist of lemon the server kindly thumb smashed a thick slab of rind into my drink and moved it about. Charred fish and octopus made me fear for my health. Acoustics were so bad I think “casual elegant “ attire might include soccer jerseys. Hostess unaware of system operations

A welcome respite from the mundane and repetitive menus in the area. The location is clever and the service is excellent but not stuffy. As an amateur baker intent on improving my bread-making skills, I was delighted to have a view of the bakery in action. I joyfully nerded out while savoring my breakfast. I enjoyed the French touches to the decor. Well-executed ambiance without irony enhanced the stellar food and dining experience. I’m thoroughly charmed by this place and will return the first chance I get. We smartly ordered an assortment of croissants to go for a bayside picnic that afternoon. This was by far the best meal we had on the cape.

I love this restaurant and was glad to be here for the first time this summer. I had asked in my res to be seated at a high-top but we were to be sitting right next to another couple and the space was very tight. We then sat at a nice table in the main room. Our waiter was not very friendly and we had to wave him over to have my friend's steak cooked a little more. There were 3 males at the bar who were sitting right next to each other and were shouting + the TV was on. This was ruining our fine dining experience. It felt like we were in a sports bar instead of being in one of the best restaurants on the Cape. It was far too loud because of them. We asked our waiter to say something to them which to his credit he did. Great restaurant but far from a pleasurable experience.
