Has just the right mix of talent, energy and ambience. Hopefully additional space - coming soon - will reduce noise level which can be too much and takes away from the charm.
One of my favorites but not if you want to talk to your guests!
First of all, our server, Eduardo, was fantastic! He made great recommendations for items on the menu for our large group of 8. He made the experience personal—enjoying some interesting info about him, his family and his heritage. He took care of all of our needs as though we were his family! No one went home hungry!!! The food was fabulous and the bread and butter are always a signature part of the experience! Bon appetit’
Pain D’avignon is always our first stop for dinner on the way to the Cape. A great way to start a long weekend. I had one of their ‘Classiques’, Black Cod, which was delicious!
All was great- as always we come as often as we possibly can
I moved here in July, soon heard about this restaurant, made my first visit, and now early October I would say I have been back about eight times. Lunch and dinner and lunch and dinner and dinner and dinner and dinner. And it has never disappointed. It has always been spectacular best restaurant around for sure and I’m from New York so I know what a good restaurant tastes like. But please don’t tell anyone about this because I don’t want it to get too crowded. It is sublime
I enjoyed the restaurant, but was shocked when I received the bill. The fish special was $42. each. That seems a lot for halibut. I feel the server/restaurant has a responsibility to tell the customer in advance what the various prices are for specials and not embarrass them when they are presented with the check!
We had a wonderful meal. Service was great, generally, but when we were served a wrong dessert, the correct one took a long time to come out, and the other members of the party were nearly done with theirs by then. The menu is fabulous, with some different items from what you see in every other restaurant. The place looked great, but by about 7 pm the noise was deafening.
Excellent food , good service but very noisy
The noise level was nearly not bearable
Noise level high. Better for smaller group. Acoustics need work badly.
We have been here a few times and have always enjoyed it
However!! Tonight my husband s risotto was exceptionally good and my beets. Carpaccio was delicious!
Because it was early 5:00 very quiet
A mixture of tables including tables near the bread baking area fun to watch all the bakers through huge window
Another area near the small car with tv to watch—- The patriots
that has pastries and breads for sale and the outside with umbrella tables
Drinks are great
Dessert from heaven
The food was excellent. Both appetizers and both entrees were the quality of what we have had in France. The only exception was one dessert: the profiteroles which were passable. We enjoyed the service and that the restaurant was open on Tuesday evening off-season. We will return soon.
The food and service are very good, but the noise level is daunting! anyone with a slight hearing impairment must resort to sign language or munch incommunicado. There are architectural means to abate noise, such as sound-absorbing ceilings that can be retrofitted. Do yourselves a favor and address the noise level. There surely are many older folks and seniors that would frequent PDA more frequently were the environment a few notches quieter. I'll try to find noise abatement references that I'll forward to you later. . . .
Both food and service was excellent.
It was ok. Bread was great. Some food was under seasoned. It was not great but not bad.
A real gem and a wonderful find on Cape Cope. Authentic French Bistro with a great menu, impeccably prepared food using many local ingredients and flawless service. Wonderful bar to boot. Not to be missed
The food was wonderful minus the mushroom bruschetta. The service was terrible. We waited 45 minutes for our appetizers then another 45 for our entree. The staff was friendly but not on it in regards to cleaning our table and keeping track of our wait time.
My husband had the baked oyster appetizer and the wahoo entree and I had the duck appetizer with brussels sprouts, green apple & candied walnut slaw and the seafood medley entrée (grilled octopus, sautéed squid, seared scallops, sautéed halibut and grilled shrimp). Both entrees were specials that evening and everything was cooked perfectly. Our server was friendly and helpful. The entrée came out about 10 minutes or so after we had finished our appetizers and our server apologized for the delay. There was no need to apologize, we enjoyed having a leisurely dinner as opposed to many restaurants that now seem to make a point of having their diners out in 90 minutes despite being considered fine dining establishments. Overall, this was an excellent experience, and one of the best meals we have had on Cape Cod. We plan to return.
Great birthday dinner for my husband! I love this place whether for breakfast, dinner or just to swing by for bakery goodies. We got a loaf of brioche when we left and the waiter recommended making French toast. I made French toast the next morning and it was amazing! Thanks for the tip from our waiter!
Great food. Everything from apps to entree was thought out so well where all ingredients complemented each other. Staff was extremely knowledgeable. Each course was timed perfectly where we weren’t rushed but didn’t wait long between courses either. Our new favorite for this area of the Cape
We had a fantastic time. Wish the onion soup we caught online was available at dinner, but our meal was spectacular. Steak Frites was perfectly done and the Cacio e Pepe was amazing. Ask for a table near the bread factory window...we loved watching them and a perfect compliment to the meal.
For us, an absolute must for trips to Hyannis....
Pre concert dinner. Was delicious!
Absolutely perfect from start to finish. The food is always outstanding. Can not recommend enough.
The service, meal, and beverage selection were fabulous.
Our waiter was unbelievable so with everything else being way up there, it was an extremely lovely evninging. The only thing negative I would say the Maitre D was a bit stuffy. Susan
Scallops over risotto divine. Cod sublime. Server Stephanie great. Fun watching the breads Coming out of the oven. Love this place!
I normally like the food. But my appetizer was tasteless & not prepared well. My main course was also tasteless and part of it was cold. I had to get up from the table to see where the glass of wine that I ordered for dinner was. The only time we really saw the waiter was when he brought the bill. It felt as though there isn’t enough wait staff for a busy weekend evening.
Our reservation was for 6 but we arrived much earlier than expected and they graciously seated us promptly anyway. The waitstaff was very knowledgeable and recommended some excellent red and white wine. We had the Spanish octopus starter, blackened cod with bok choy and coconut rice, and lobster linguine. Stone fruit crumble and Floating Islands for dessert. Everything was top notch. We have taken a summer vacation in Brewster for 20 years. Discovered PDA 5 years ago and it swiftly became our favorite restaurant on the Cape. Excellent bakery for breakfast also.
Exceptional food. Waiter was wonderful. Knocked off one star because while a great waiter the service was a bit slow. It took us a solid 45 minutes before we placed our dinner order (we did not had an appetizer). Once the order was placed the food arrived in standard time and was truly delicious. One of the better meals I have had on the Cape. So if you want a leisurely dinner with great good, this is a good bet. If you are in a rush go somewhere else.
I had a wonderful dinner here with my Dad last weekend, we sat outside and the food was 10/10. I just got back from Paris a few weeks ago and I felt like I was back in Paris! Thank you for a great evening we will be back soon:)
Excellent food. Great service. I had the steak and it was amazing!!
We stop here every year on our way to vacation - always enjoyable! Salads and apps very good and service very friendly. We did wait a bit for a cocktail - I don't understand only two seatings in that staff is challenged to accommodate everyone at once. The bread, of course, is excellent and we appreciate and enjoyed going home with a loaf. (It is a bit puzzling that same gender couples get a loaf each but one make and one female get only one!). Our entrees were very good - special ribs and the burger. Can't wait to go back next year!
I had the veal schnitzel which looked great but was heavily salted as were the baked oysters. In addition, they required my credit card when I made the reservation via OpenTable, did not like that. Probably my first and last time there.
Going to Hyannis is never fun, especially in the summer, so dinner at Pain D'Avignon is a special treat. I love the atmosphere, and the food and service are both generally very good. We had great cocktails - I had the vodka with grapefruit and my date had some slightly sweet vodka concoction, which he also liked. Of course the bread was to die for, and the house salad was fine, although nothing to write home about. I ordered one of the specials of the evening, which was prime rib, and it was outstanding - really wonderfully done, great side dishes, and very flavorful. My date had the Veal Schnitzel, and said the veal was tough, not very well seasoned, and the sides were ... paltry and boring. He's allergic to potato, so they subbed risotto, but charged the list price ($9) for it. The service was fine, if a little slow. We shared a dessert, Brownie à la Mode, and it was spectacular.
Food was great, as has always been the case when we've eaten there. Server was very nice, and helpful, but food took forever to come out, despite the fact that we ordered at 8:45pm, and were amongst the last to leave. We consider this to be one of the better places on Cape Cod that we've been to.
Food was terrific as always. Service was slow. Maître d' was obnoxious.
It never ceases to amaze me how a restaurant just outside the airport can have such great atmosphere and a quaint feel. We ate outside which was wonderfully pleasant. The food was delicious and well prepared. 4 out of 5 selected one of the many “specials “ of the evening. The steak tartare is always one of my favorites to start off with. I would go more often if it didn’t take such a chunk out of my wallet.
Made reservations for my husband's birthday. The server did not know how to properly open a bottle of wine. Then we ordered our meal and the wrong side was brought to the table. The server insisted I had ordered this item when in fact we did not. There was no mention of my husbands birthday. I wasn't looking for free anything except for maybe a candle in a dessert. The food was delicious though!
Amazing food, very nice atmosphere, only negative / unusual that a 20% tip was automatically added even that we were only a party of 4
One of a kind on the Cape. So classy and such good food and wine and bread! Nice touch to give diners bread when they leave. A must go!
