In 1992, thrown together on Cape Cod by political circumstances none of them could have predicted, four young Yugoslavs founded Pain D'Avignon.Their goal was to recreate the Old World Traditions using baking techniques and recipes barely changed in centuries. Their founding principle: fine breads deserve to be at the center of the dining experience, not a mere afterthought. At their Hyannis bakery, the timeless art of bread making is both revered and respected. Everyday salt, flour and filtered water are combined – like the bakers themselves – with a distinctly European flavor.

Every dish we were served was excellent. From the fish (perfectly cooked) to the Rack of Lamb, very flavorful, we enjoyed every minute! Great service and the cocktails were handmade masterpieces!

The food here is just so indescribably delicious -- from simple food prepared in extraordinarily simple yet scrumptious ways to real gourmet treasures such as escargot and grilled octopus; you just can't go wrong here. The service has been exemplary each time we've gone -- we especially love Eduardo! He is entertaining and anticipative of your every want without being intrusive. Can't recommend this bistro enough!

Swore off this restaurant a couple of summers ago after ordering drinks, waiting for 20 minutes, drinks never came, and walked out. Food has always been good but due to a craft cocktails menu and generally only 1 bartender working, drinks always painfully slow to come out. Being that it is the wintertime, decided to give it another shot this past Saturday thinking wintertime = less customers. WRONG. They were hopping. Thanks to their manager Shay’s everpresence, the service from drinks to check was outstanding. As long as he’s there, we’ll be returning all seasons.

Wonderful night with my dad. Had a new employee but she was very attentive. Food was delicious as always. We have recommended this restaurant to friends who have also have had a memorable time. It’s a hidden gem on the Cape. Will be back.

Second time there within the week, this time with guests. Everyone had a different app and a different main. All the dishes were extraordinary, the drinks excellent, a good selection of French wines reasonably priced, including a number of excellent half bottles), plus the break is fabulous. Attentive, but not intrusive service. One of our new favorites on Cape, maybe THE favorite. No reason to wait for a special occasion to dine here.

The food was outstanding. I had the escargot and and my wife had the the beet salad for appetizers. Both were amazing. The service was very attentive and engaging. Our waiter was adept at wine pairings and was on point in his suggestion to pair with my entree. The bread was delightful as were the desserts. The crepe Suzette was the best I have ever had. We plan on returning with friends next time. Terrific find.

Great food A very busy night. Not rushed but it did take a bit to get attention. The best and cutest server saved us from being forgotten in the rush. Otherwise a fabulous evening. Food bread wine ambiance. Love it!

Hands down, one of the best meals we've had on Cape in many, many years. The French restaurant in Mashpee has been our favorite special occasion got-to for a very long time. But honestly, the quality and variety of the food at Pain D'Avignon was better. We took the risk of dining there on Valentine's Day which is always a problem because restaurants are packed and the wait staff is overwhelmed. Pain is in the process of remodeling and adding a large dining area so quarters were a little tight and we were put right by the front door feeling the cold air rush in each and every time new customers entered the restaurant. BUT, the food--we had four of the five specials for the night--was simply marvelous. Butternut soup, Wellfleet Oyster Stew, Roasted Veal Tenderloin, and Roasted Sturgeon. All outstanding as was the service amazingly enough. Though a tad less convenient distance wise from our home, we will be making more frequent trips to Pain D'Avignon in the future and we'll be bringing family and guests.

Everything was perfect! The octopus appetizer is amazing, best I’ve ever had! Service was considerate, but not overbearing. If you happen to be in Hyannis, find your way here.

This will the last time we ever will eat at Pain Avignon (or buy any of their foods). Although the food is usually quite good (but not always), the attitude of the restaurant's staff is arrogant and uncaring towards its guests. It's as though the staff thinks that the guests should feel privileged to eat there, rather than the staff having a customer-centric attitude where the customer feels sincerely appreciated. My wife and I made a simple request to help us enjoy our dining and I offered to pay extra if needed. It was a request that the finest of restaurants would have granted. But, we were flatly turned down. I mentioned our disappointment to the maitre'd and he could not have cared less. I have sensed this arrogant attitude on other occasions during the 15+ years we've been eating there. This time it was crystal clear what they thought of us as guests. As a guest my only recourse for arrogance is to stop patronizing such an establishment. So be it... There are many other fine restaurants on Cape Cod that treat their guests with respect and appreciation.

The beet salad was incredible but the escargot was only fair as was the flatbread that was too limp and flour like. My partner loved the pasta. The service was very good. Surprised to see an all male staff at night in this day an age but they all worked well together. It is a noisy restaurant on a weekend night but it does have a great atmosphere although mostly close quarters. Enjoyable even with the few drawbacks.

Five friends getting together for dinner...we all chose different drinks, appetizers, entrees and desserts, and everything was absolutely delicious. The menu was sophisticated and adventuresome, but also mindfil of the season.
However, the room is REALLY noisy, due perjaps to the glass walls and concrete floors, which reflect sound rather than absorb it. The noise levelsade it very hard for us to converse.

In all my 65 years of dining out, I have never been seated so uncomfortably close to 2 other tables. Although we booked a week ahead, we were a party of 2 squeezed between the backs of 2 tables of 4. We couldn't even hear ourselves talk. The restaurant is small, I admit, and I'd been there before. In addition, we had the halibut special which was accompanied by a lentil sauce that was bland. Quite frankly, I can do better at home for a fraction of the price. So disappointing.

this was our first time here and we weren't disappointed. while the menu was limited there were many specials to chose from. The roast chicken was moist and well flavored. The scallops were delicious. Service was fine and the loaf of bread to take home was a pleasant surprise. will definitely return.

First of all, our server, Eduardo, was fantastic! He made great recommendations for items on the menu for our large group of 8. He made the experience personal—enjoying some interesting info about him, his family and his heritage. He took care of all of our needs as though we were his family! No one went home hungry!!! The food was fabulous and the bread and butter are always a signature part of the experience! Bon appetit’

Pain D’avignon is always our first stop for dinner on the way to the Cape. A great way to start a long weekend. I had one of their ‘Classiques’, Black Cod, which was delicious!
