Some of the best service we’ve had in Town. It really was excellent. Did the tasting menu and about half of the dishes were out of this world the others were just fine but that’s probably down to a taste thing. Great vibe in the place and you can tell the people working there are passionate about the things Chef Lee has going on. 100% will go back but only when the menu rotates.
This place definitely deserves a Michelin star, but they don’t come out to Hawaii. The chef’s tasting menu was the best we’ve had in Hawaii after living here 10 years. The wine pairing was brilliant, and the staff were wonderful. My favorite part is how the staff spoke of Chef Lee with such obvious respect and affection. We will be back for sure.
Going to Pai is always a treat with the innovative menu and the great service. Enjoyed the ambience also.
All courses of tasting menu were DELICIOUS! Very unassuming atmosphere made for a surprisingly comfortable & casual fine dining experience. Wait staff were very polite & profesdional.
Excellent attention to detail and appreciated pairings….
The entire meal was wonderful, professional and delicious. The options of the menu were great whether you want to do a coursed meal or just a delicious entree. I highly suggest the 4 course wine Pairing. Portions were perfect and the flavors were beautiful. Chef really cultivates the dishes with finess to keep your palate wanting more. I will certainly go back!
The tasting menu combined incredible flavors with exceptional technique and the wine pairing was spot on. So delicious
It was amazing
Always a wonderful experience! Chef Kevin and his crew are on point with food and service. It’s our go to for special occasions.
Service is amazing: we sat outside and were the only ones sitting outside but still got attentive and warm service. They were thoughtful and paid close attention to our preferences.
Food is delicious: We did the prix-fix menu and enjoyed all of it. I'm not a fan of kale, but their kale was delicious and not at all bitter. The cornbread with miso butter was maybe my favorite. The whole thing was delicious
The food was absolutely out of this world along with the drinks and wine pairing! We loved the atmosphere and it was amazing to watch the chefs at work!
The service by everyone was great, with Akea and Shea standing out.
This place is amazing! I’d give it a 20 out of 10! Definitely a must try!
Absolutely love this place! We did the Chef’s Summer Tasting Menu with wine pairing. Food was delicious and beautiful, and wine was on point. The sommelier took us around the world with his pairings, and service was seamless. My favorite courses were the Agedashi Xo Turnip Cake, Grilled Tako, and BBQ Brisket Gnocchi. Highly recommend, and will be back soon!
Great food and great service.
For the special multi-course meal, the food was fantastic, and the sommelier deserves great praise for incredible pairings and descriptions. Well done!
We celebrated our 43 Anniversary at the Chef Counter doing the 8 course Tasting Menu
Chef prepared a Vegetarian Menu for Lehua
Every dish was exciting and delicious
Service was excellent and we enjoyed chatting with Chef thru the evening
I was very happy that Lehua really loved her dinner
We will see you soon
This was a special wine pairing dinner featuring a variety of wines from various Jackson Family vineyards. The wines were well-paired with the four courses of food that were excellent in both taste and presentation. The master sommelier, Michael Jackson, made the rounds of all of the tables several times to discuss the wines we were drinking with each guest individually. It was a lovely evening.
The portions were quite generous, and were beautifully presented. The service was super courteous and they explained all the food sourcing and wine pairings. We celebrated my husband’s birthday there and they made nice touches to include a little birthday pastry and gelato. Very special!
Fantastic service. Wine pairing was right on with the food. Excellent food & wine tasting and experience.
Our first time at PAI. It was outstanding. We’ll definitely be back again. The food matched well with the wine pairings. I don’t have a favorite but it would be between the rillettes, brisket, inaniwa udon, and Panna cotta with the brittle
Food and service were extraordinary! We definitely will be back!
Kristiian was outstanding as were Taj, Chef and the entire crew. Had a great evening and learned a lot as well!
Great food and wine pairings, great wait staff.
A wonderful culinary experience! Service was exceptionally gracious and thoughtful. They celebrated our wedding anniversary with glasses of Domaine Ste. Michelle Brut Rose. Cocktails were super delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed our fine dining gastronomical journey in their quiet, laid back, cool ambiance. Thank you, Pai Honolulu, for making our occasion special. We will definitely be coming back!
Food and service was excellent. We sat out side so the noise level was low. They are one of the restaurants who stick to the distancing and it’s a very safe environment.
We were a party of 4 at PAI including a toddler. Two of us decided to do the tasting menu while the remainder ordered a la carte.
First of all, I'm not sure if the restaurant is understaffed but the service was incredibly slow. I know that a 7-course tasting menu can take time, but I noticed that it would take significant amounts of time for the other diners at other tables to receive their food as well, and it was generally not as efficiently run as I thought it should be. I felt like our server was constantly running from place to place and never had a free moment, yet things were coming out so slowly.
Second, the tasting menu was great and the presentation was fantastic. That being said, some of the items were a hit while others were a miss for sure.
1. Buttermilk Cornbread - fantastic and just hit the spot. I wouldn't do anything to change this.
2. Inaniwa Udon - Fresh, light and the flavors combined really well.
3. Chilled Lobster - I wasn't a fan of the truffle corn pudding. The lobster is rich on its own, and it didn't seem to complement too well.
4. Agedashi No Turnip Cake - Fail. I had trouble finishing this one.
5. Grilled Tako - The tako was grilled excellently but the curry laksa was just weird together. Individually the items were excellent, but the pairing didn't work all that well.
6. BBQ Brisket Gnocchi - Way too rich, and then adding blue cheese on top of that? It was way too much. It also would've been ideal to have earlier on the menu and then offset but a lighter palate cleanser. Having this, then the venison back-to-back was too much.
7. Molokai Venison - Hands down the best dish I ate. The broccoli still had snap and the flavor was incredible. The venison was cooked perfectly and not overly gamey.
8. Both the Watermelon Dragonfruit Soju sorbet and the Mango Panna Cotta were yummy but by this time, it was so late, and I was just rushing out the door so my memory is dim on those.
Service was amazing! Every staff member was great, paid attention to small details to make our experience the best. Food was also phenomenal, we were full and happy by the end of our meal. Thank you everyone at Pai Honolulu for an awesome night.
Still a bit of a hidden gem, but in our view the top (or very close) restaurant on Oahu! Tasting menu is pricey but so worth it - the udon are the best I’ve ever had.
We went for their tasting menu as this is our delayed honeymoon trip to Oahu. The wait staff, mixologist, and the head chef were so attentive and friendly. The mixologist, Khristian, was especially informative and kind!
Food and service was outstanding!
I made a reservation for my boyfriend's birthday and the overall experience was great! The staff were attentive and friendly. The food was super delicious and timing was just perfect. They have an outdoor dining area which is dog friendly so I'm definitely going to return with the pup!
Waitress was dull. We would ask what something was, unfamiliar with chef terminology, and she would explain It and we would be more confused. She brought us dessert wine, Sauvignon blanc, and It tasted like hand sanitizer. My husband asked for a large portion of his bolognese pasta, she said she would try. The portion was small, meanwhile the table nearby had a large serving of the same pasta. We asked if they had bread and butter to start off, she brought us a piece of corn bread and one slice of butter- instead of explaining she doesnt have a basket of bread or butter. The waitress lacked communication and was not good with explaining the menu for individuals who are not chefs. In addition, the parking is very annoying - we had issues leaving the garage.
Our meal was delicious (tasting menu) and the staff was delightful.
Summer 4 course prix fixe menu and original cocktails were divine. The oysters and shrimp chips as appertizers were great starters. Extremely friendly staff and offering Moscato with our desserts to celebrate our anniversary was a nice touch. We will definitely be back to PAI.
Had an amazing time. The food was incredible and the service was amazing.
I had an amazing experience. I went there for my birthday and they made me feel very special with Chef Kevin personally serving me the dish. And each dish tasted wonderful! Will definitely come back again when I visit Honolulu next time.
Last night of vacation we just happened to find availability on Open Table so decided to check it out . Eight course chefs dinner with wine pairing did not disappoint. The subtle , perfectly balanced flavors of the chefs creations were immensely satisfying. The wine pairings enhanced the experience greatly. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive and professional. We did try the Chef’s dinner at Hoku’s a few nights prior and in comparison Pai is the winner , no question about it .
The 8 course meal & a la carte featured a wonderful blend of flavors and the proportions were perfect. We had a great experience dining here.
Highly recommended. Service was excellent!!!
We enjoyed it… we were stuffed!
