We appreciate the chef being flexible with our vegan life-style and coming up with some plant-based options for us on the menu!
Tasting menu is beyond compare. Perhaps the best in the state. Beats many of New York City’s very best restaurants.
The food was very unique and delicious! We shared 10 different dishes and they were all beautifully presented and very tasty. They did add up, as did our cocktails, so while we'd love to return, this will be a "special occasion" restaurant for us.
My cioppino was very tasty but soup was cold. My 2 lunch companions parked in the bldg’s garage but no validation extended.
Dedinitely a hidden gem. Food was very, very good and service was impressive. I would definitely come back here.
Excellent drink menu and an innovative food menu. Beautiful dining space, but we sat at the bar and liked it a lot.
Food was cerebral but pleasingly composed. The wine list was equally interesting. The service was friendly but if getting your food at the same time as everyone at the table is a priority then it would be best to dine alone!
We thought Pai was very good. The food is creative, and thoughtful, and we liked everything we ordered. The Fois Gras and short rib pasta was amazing! My husband loved the chicken with the Mochi rice.
The one thing we found lacking was the wine list. It wasn't very good, for our tastes. We like more of a variety of California Cabs, and maybe some Zinfandels. Not as keen on the Spanish , French wines and Pinot Noirs. We would go back, thou. Very nice!
Had a great time at Pai for a recent get-together with a friend! We booked at the bar but were able to order from both the happy hour and main dining menus. Happy hour drinks at $8 are a good deal and quite yummy (we tried the Pai 55). Service is very attentive without being overbearing and dishes are delivered professionally. They even go as far as to describe the dish you’ll be enjoying. We had so much fun, we ended up staying for hours and never felt like we overstayed our welcome. Thank you, Pai, for a fun “girls night out!”
Chef Kevin is awesome at what he does! My family and I enjoyed the food and received exceptional service.
The service and food were fabulous!!!
Limited menu. Advertised happy hour menu and prices, but when we got there, they said they weren’t having happy hour? Selections are overpriced and lack taste and structure. No soup of the day, no bread and butter. We were asked to vacate our table before we were finished to allow another party to be seated. Do not recommend.
One of the best new restaurants to open in Hawaii in the last few years. Chef Kevin Lee and his team deliver great food and the service is incredible. Go see Joe at the bar for a cocktail and some bites of you only have an hour or so before heading home.
The potato chip gelato should be renamed to Wonka Three Course Gelato. At first the unmistakable experience of corn flakes hits you in the face then the patato chips smoothly replace that evolving into theater popcorn... it was great and the entire meal was full of surprises. Normally one would have to travel to experience a meal this creative and well executed without being overly pretentious. Well done Pai :)
And don’t miss the XO Game hen. So easy to underestimate but it’s amazingly saticefying and more than enough to share.
Had a great chef’s tasting with wine pairing food was excellent as were the pairings.
Was a really fun evening
We had such a relaxing time at PAI today. Compliments to the Chef as the food was absolutely delicious! Would highly recommend.
Expected a bigger and more interesting choices. The sandwiches were good, chioppino was ok. The day we went, there was only one dessert available.
What a place. Dreamlike in it's splendour. I think that it will be difficult getting people to believe that I ate at such a place. Sting was there and he was playing acoustic versions of lesser known gems that can be described as, at the very least, music.
Food was outstanding! Nice presentation and full of flavor. Service started off great but once we got our food, servers were no where to be found. Took a while I get our check. Regardless, I would go back for the food.
The restaurant is physically attractive with clean lines. The food is excellent. The service was attentive, but not intrusive. The hospitality was special. A real find!
Little details as small as a welcoming place card for my guests from out of town, which I had asked for in my reservation. Service was great. The GM and Chef Kevin came out to chat with us. All the cooks were friendly and had the kindest of eyes.
Food was tasty but way overpriced. It’s in the courtyard of a giant building and you are bathed in mood-killing flourescent light, no ambience what so ever and the bathrooms are so far you need an escort. You literally get escorted by a staff member to go to the bathroom.
Service was excellent but w prices that don’t match the food or ambience I will not be returning.
I had at least 3 Wow! Experiences during the counter tasting. Amazing food and great personal service.
Chef Kevin Lee is constantly exploring his culinary universe with thoughtful and exquisitely executed tasting menus. Get on board this journey! House made everything including breads, charcuterie, and dry-aged beef. Start with a cocktail at the bar... Joe is an unpretentious master craft cocktail creative. Support staff attentive and professional. Love this place.
Justine was extremely accommodating in setting table for 2 inside. There is outdoor seating as well. There is seating at the bar which creatively serves delicious drinks. The chefs table is directly in front of the food preparation. The food was creative, cutting edge, and delicious. I will keep Pai as one my personal favorites.
The food and drinks were phenomenal. One can easily see the pride, skill, and effort the staff put into their respective crafts. All elements of our dinner were accompanied by a personalized touch. I especially want to point out the outstanding sommelier, Nelson, and the amazing instinct and knowledge he brought to his recommended pairings for the prix fixe option during Restaurant Week. Highly recommend
The service was warm, friendly, helpful and quick to respond to questions of all kinds. The food was great and the noise level was manageable. But then we were only 2 people, couldn't tell if we were a group of 6 or so. The dessert was out of this world! I would definitely go again for the Almond Biscotti dessert.
I don’t feel I have been to the restaurant, because the whole time I sat outside. Food is ok.
Great service. Limited menu. Food was very subpar and salty.
Couldn’t wait to go back to PAI. It’s around our seventh time. Love the new choice of either picking from menus or totally a la carte. We left it up to Kevin (Keven Lee the head chef and owner). Pai is still the only Hawaiian restaurant that is on par with the top NYC/Brooklyn/ Paris Restaurants.

garlic chives | toasted baguette
matsutake mushroom | bay scallops | white bean ragu | sweet potato puree

First time at Pai and it was excellent! The food was great and the atmosphere was pleasant. Justine was very accommodating with seating us at a table versus the counter and all the help (Nelson in particular) was very attentive. The only down side is that it is located downtown. Other than that we would definitely enjoy it again.
Thanks for a great evening!
The dishes were creative and very tasty. Four of is shared the risotto and two desserts so we can all taste them. 3 of us had the cioppino and no leftovers. Seating was a little dysfunctional because the server couldn’t get to everyone comfortably so we helped serve and clear to those seated on the end. Will definitely go back to try other dishes.
Excellent service and food was asian fusion. Chef Kevin Lee is very creative with his food. Presentation and taste was superb.
Incredible dining experience! Loved everything about it. Highest recommendation.
Everything was amazing. The host went above and beyond with accommodation for our child. The service was informative and warm. The wine service was new and interesting and lastly the food was some of the best I’ve ever had! I can’t wait to come back. Mahalo for a wonderful evening and being so understanding of an energetic toddler!
Fantastic lunch with my mom. Great glass pours and lunch options are creative and delicious. Also, all the bread they serve is made in house. Talented warm staff! This is definitely in the rotation
The staff was welcoming and professional. Food great. The lighting was horrendous. Bright fluorescent lights - I felt like I was in an office building. Not a good ambience- but all they need to do is change the lighting.
Ambiance and service was really great!
Wished the food lived up to pricing.
The Naw Mai Gaw was really great. Hyped Nabeta. Would visit again as a casual get together but not for special occasions!
Food was very eclectic beautiful presentation. Service was very attentive. Enjoyed the tasting menu but felt a bit overpriced. Didn’t really like the desserts. Will try again. Tasting menu took 3 hours.
Excellent food and ambiance. The attention to detail is outstanding.
