Paesanos - River Walk
food was excellent, a little overpriced, but it is on the Riverwalk. Service was outstanding, especially for a busy Friday night.
Fun evening out on the riverwalk!
Great food, drinks and service.
I would highly recommend! The food was excellent. I had the manicotti and it was delicious! Our server, David, was attentive and gracious. We ate inside, away from the Riverwalk, and the ambience was quite nice - kind of romantic. It is a very short walk from the Hyatt Recency, which was very convenient for us.
Paesano’s would have had a perfect review if it weren’t for the poor service. And, for a more upscale restaurant with higher prices, the poor service was even more glaring. The food - excellent! Our party of five tried everything from salads to desserts. All perfectly prepared, even the traditional spaghetti with meatballs and meat sauce. Our waitress on the other hand was less then excited to be working and it showed. She was slow to get to us and clearly she was not happy. Our food delivery was slow and she dropped everything and walked off - no pepper offered for salads and no parmesan with entrees. We had to chase down another server walking by to get the parmesan for the table. She clearly was not happy with five separate checks (it’s a convention city and we were work colleagues - it’s a necessity). She dropped the stack of checks on the table so we had to figure out which one belonged to which person and after she ran the credit cards, she again dropped them in a pile with one pen. She never checked to see how our meals were and didn’t say a word at the end of the meal when we were paying. I used to wait tables many years ago. Many times there are reasons beyond a server’s control - bad attitude doesn’t fall into this category. Having been in the service profession, I tend to tip well. This was not the case on this night. I hope she was just having a bad day. I hope poor service was just a fluke.
Joshua was an amazing waiter! Thank you!
Our waiter, Steven, was great. He suggested a wine and we loved it. We sat outside - try to get a seat away from the walkway like we did. It's less hectic.
We would go back again.
Great food, the riverwalk atmosphere feel was awesome. My date and I had a great experience...
$50 Steak with no steak sauces available, Tuna with no wasabi available. Not a deal breaker but I have a hard time believing I’m the only person that’s ever requested these things.
Paesanos is always super yummy!
Waiters were awesome!!!
Food portions are fair.
Experience and taste would have been better if:
-Tuna steak was served rare (as ordered) it was medium well
-Tuna appetizer was served rare (as ordered) it was medium well
-pork chops weren’t served dry because they were over cooked
Not the server’s fault. Food should be consistent in quality regardless of time served - we were on the later side of the evening.
Awesome lemon drop martinis
The atmosphere is great. We sat outside on the River walk. The waiter was very friendly and professional. We ordered two entrees (spaghetti/meatballs & baked ziti) the food came out prepared just right, hot from the kitchen and tasted very good. The price was very reasonable. They offer complimentary baked bread with oil and it is very tasty. We would go back and try other items. Fun!
The food was amazing our server was the best very kind and attended to all our needs. The location is great. Can’t wait to go back.
Very loud in dining room area
The food was good but pretty pricey. The appetizers were extremely small portioned but the entrees were great. Service was great. The environment was nice but not as fancy as I was expecting.
Our male server was VERY inattentive, no smile, acted like we were a bit of a burden to him, the place wasn't that busy on a Wednesday evening, so we felt slighted. He seemed to be having frequent conversations and laughter with the table nearby that he was also serving however. I ordered the tortellini which was incredibly blah, no flavor, just overboiled noodles with a somewhat cream sauce. My husband had the stuffed shells, he said they were just ok. It was horribly loud inside as it was raining outside and people were stuffed into the inner restaurant area. Couldn't hear ourselves talking. Wouldn't go back on a dare.
Great service, food, Chianti, and view. Paesanos sampler w shrimp, giant calamari, and artichokes was excellent. Shells w sausage almost better. Veal Marsala basically ok.
Service ok. Food....uck. Artichoke appetizer was a canned choke in a cold, thick breading. Ravioli....pasta was delicious, but it was drowned in a tasteless cheese and something. Only the Riverside view saved the night.
This is a great italian eatery on the Riverwalk. Our experience was wonderful. We started with the calamari appetizer. It was tender and juicy, not the least bit tough, with a light breading. Itbbwas perfect. My wife had their signature dish, a pasta in a light garlic sauce with jumbo shrimp. She raved about the shrimp, which had a very light breading and the pasta was cooked perfectly. I had a large Mediterranean saled that contained slivered almonds, mandarin oranges amd dried cranberries. It was served with a lemon poppyseed dressing and was terrific. The server was attentive and his recomendations for both our food and wine, were spot on. I would certainly go there again when visiting San Antonio.
Excellent food and experience. Jonathan was our waiter and has server us in several occasions. He is great, personable, prompt. He knows what we need and expect. We don’t even have to tell him what we want to drink, he just ask if we want our usual. We usually are there before the show at the Majestic, he ask and makes sure our dinner stays on time, including a desert.. Jonathan was great.
Pasta was drowned in sauce (very American thing to do); unlike in Italy, where the sauce just kisses the pasta. Also, we noticed when we got back to our hotel, we still actually smelled like the restaurant, like fried calamari.
Extremely dispointed in this place. I had to ask server for bread, then bread plates, cheese for food, when food arrived it was cold. Was never asked if we wanted desert or coffee and brought check. 2 very large groups of girls seat all around us and apparent they were more important than 4 middle aged women with the means to tip largely !!!
Our food was delicious. Julian our waiter did an excellent job taking care of us. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation, and they were able to seat us immediately.
The food was amazing and reasonably priced.
I requested a table next to the river and they got me their closest one, about 2 feet from the water.
Service was great and as busy as they were the food arrived quickly.
There is a karaoke bar above the restaurant my fiance wasn't super thrilled with, but I could barely hear it and wasn't really bothered by it.
Either way, 10/10. I'd definitely recommend it and would eat there again.
They have "changed up" Shrimp Paesano - without explaining the changes. Not the best move.
Other than location Paesano's has nothing much going for it.
Pricey but overall very good, Shrimp Paesanos is the standout as well as the appetizers. Chicken was dry, but my tuna steak was very good.
I went to Paesano's for dinner before prom when I was in high school almost 40 years ago. It is continues to be a fantastic restaurant. I was attending a conference and brought 12 other attendees to Paesano's. They raved about the food and experience all the way back to the hotel. They couldn't get enough of the Shrimp Paesano! I know they will come back the next time they are in town, as will I.
Food took forever from order to table. Steak was ordered medium rare, cooked very well done. Steak remade and cooked very well done again. Ugh. Wont go back.
Great outside dining, Julian gave great service. Drinks, appetizers and desserts all fabulous- especially the bread pudding! Great place to grab a quick bite before going to the theater
It was my wife birthday . It took an hour for food. They keep going to the table say they are out of the food that we just ordered
Excellent food especially Shrimp Paesano and pastas. Very loud!
Tables are a bit small for appetizers and bread etc plus bottle of wine.
The location was AMAZING! The food was ok, but not worth the price. It was still a fun experience.
Overall, a nice experience. The food could be a little more contemporary for the price, but it was nice. I have a gluten-intolerance, and was accommodated with a very nice gluten-free pasta.
The food was good. To me though, the tables are really small for a party of four. Once you get your food and drinks on the tables, there is no space left.
All in all, it was a nice place to dine.
Team dinner - we had a blast...
This restaurant is not worth the nearly $100 we spent on dinner. We have had better lasagna and chicken parmigiana at smaller, family owned restaurants for a much cheaper price. Eating outside is crowded and you fight the birds, eating inside the tables are way too small for 4 people to have plates and drinks fit!
My advice don’t eat at the Riverwalk and don’t eat here!
Waiter rushed us to order everything at the same time. Our fault for complying. Everything came out almost simultaneously within minutes, wine, appetizers, bread, salads, entrees. There was not enough room on the table for all that and we felt extremely rushed. Of course that’s what they wanted - to herd people through like cattle and turn tables. Bus boy spilled water on the people behind us as he rushed to clear tables. I was afraid to order their big entrees (that it would cost a lot and be disappointing)- so i got an individual pizza instead- it was undercooked and had a strange sauce (peppery) for my taste. Worst dinner we had on the RiverWalk. I think this place can be good - just wasn’t for us.
The food was only ok and the server seemed bothered to be there. We were in town with our family of 5 and thought we would try it and were very disappointed.
Great food and atmosphere!
The Shrimp Paesano is what you should order ! Nice wine list and great service
