Paesanos - River Walk
Food was great, wine selection affordable and good value, atmosphere excellent and service competent but not pushy. Will come again.
Everything was wonderful and our waiter was fantastic!
The place is on the river, there were 7 of us so we were not able to sit next to the river, but we did dine outside. Our server was great, attentive and prompt. The food was good, I had a Ceasar Salad with parm crusted chicken on top. We had an exceptional bottle of wine. Camus- crazy expensive but so good! Everyone thought their food was good as well. We wouldn't say anything was "great", except maybe the wine but everything was good.
Great food, and very enjoyable. We requested Johnathan and even though he did not have a table outside, he found a way to seat us. His service was excellent. The food was perfect, we enjoyed our selves and client, who had not been to Paesanos in a while will come back.
The Pasta was over cooked and sauce was dry on mine and my husbands plate but my moms shrimp plate was served perfect.
Ate here for Mother’s Day Lunch and it was delicious! Great food choices, wonderful service, and unique ambience on the river walk.
Our server Eric was very professional and polite. Will definitely eat there again.
We are HUGE Paisano people. Have been since the one on McCulloch. But we do not understand why the food is different at the 3 locations. Here on the Riverwalk, our Shrimp Paesano's were not hot nor the pasta. We were not asked if we wanted butter garlic or marinara on our pasta. The waiter said they never ask (Quarry always asks). The Special salad on the riverwalk was thrown together and small . Not mixed ( like the Quarry) The bread was completely different. No mixed bread like the raisin bread, corn bread etc..or when asked not the garlic bread (like the Quarry). The Salmon was good. The 3 resteraunts should be consistent. We had company that we were so excited about introducing Paesanos to,( especially the Shrimp Paesano) and we were very disappointed that they couldn't share the REAL Paesanos experience that we know. We will be going only to the Quarry from now on. The Customer Service however was good.
Always excellent food and service....you will not be disappointed
Great food and experience. Waiter was very attentive and nice
Disappointed with dessert. We ordered Tiramisu & it tasted like a frozen dessert you could get at a grocery store. When the waiter asked what we thought he didn't listen to the answer. Overall our waiter spoiled our experience.
My friend was in town and ate your calamari’s back In 2009, so she insisted on dining at Paesanos to see if they were as good as she remembered...they were exceptional! I reserved a table for three and every single entree was delicious and unique. We finished the meal with cream brûlée which we all agreed was the best we’ve ever tasted. Our waiter Robert was wonderful! He was attentive, friendly, professional and made us feel like we were the only table he was tending to, although we weren’t. Thank you Robert for making our evening so memorable.
Food was not as great as we expected. Sitting next to the river was wonderful! Overall, I would choose another place on the river walk.
The location was beautiful and the shrimp Paesanos was fabulous. However, this place seems to cater primarily to tourists, not the type of dining we prefer. There are other restaurants off the Riverwalk that are better and we have been to another Paesanos in town that was better.
Had a nice table outside. Food was good. We had Caesar salad, clams with Linguine, shrimp with lemon butter and pasta and a nice bottle of wine. People watching was good.
A lovely location with a view of the riverwalk. Polite and friendly service should have made a wonderful dinner. Too bad the food was so disappointing! Our Caesar and artichoke salads were bland. We had the ribeye steak and signature dish: Shrimp Paesano, finding both so disappointing that we left most of it on the plate. We did not have dessert. Thank goodness for the wine and beautiful weather!
Friends had a great time
Shrimp Paesano was AMAZING. Wonderful place to eat!
The food was excellent! The waiter was quite attentive and referred to each female quest as “my lady.” It was quite refreshing to have such great service.
Walked into restaurant at time of reservation and was seated immediately.
The food was excellent and the service was outstanding.
Great service and food! Best appetizers!
Excellent. Loved being able to make a reservation.
food was excellent, a little overpriced, but it is on the Riverwalk. Service was outstanding, especially for a busy Friday night.
Fun evening out on the riverwalk!
Great food, drinks and service.
I would highly recommend! The food was excellent. I had the manicotti and it was delicious! Our server, David, was attentive and gracious. We ate inside, away from the Riverwalk, and the ambience was quite nice - kind of romantic. It is a very short walk from the Hyatt Recency, which was very convenient for us.
Paesano’s would have had a perfect review if it weren’t for the poor service. And, for a more upscale restaurant with higher prices, the poor service was even more glaring. The food - excellent! Our party of five tried everything from salads to desserts. All perfectly prepared, even the traditional spaghetti with meatballs and meat sauce. Our waitress on the other hand was less then excited to be working and it showed. She was slow to get to us and clearly she was not happy. Our food delivery was slow and she dropped everything and walked off - no pepper offered for salads and no parmesan with entrees. We had to chase down another server walking by to get the parmesan for the table. She clearly was not happy with five separate checks (it’s a convention city and we were work colleagues - it’s a necessity). She dropped the stack of checks on the table so we had to figure out which one belonged to which person and after she ran the credit cards, she again dropped them in a pile with one pen. She never checked to see how our meals were and didn’t say a word at the end of the meal when we were paying. I used to wait tables many years ago. Many times there are reasons beyond a server’s control - bad attitude doesn’t fall into this category. Having been in the service profession, I tend to tip well. This was not the case on this night. I hope she was just having a bad day. I hope poor service was just a fluke.
Joshua was an amazing waiter! Thank you!
Our waiter, Steven, was great. He suggested a wine and we loved it. We sat outside - try to get a seat away from the walkway like we did. It's less hectic.
We would go back again.
Great food, the riverwalk atmosphere feel was awesome. My date and I had a great experience...
$50 Steak with no steak sauces available, Tuna with no wasabi available. Not a deal breaker but I have a hard time believing I’m the only person that’s ever requested these things.
Paesanos is always super yummy!
Waiters were awesome!!!
Food portions are fair.
Experience and taste would have been better if:
-Tuna steak was served rare (as ordered) it was medium well
-Tuna appetizer was served rare (as ordered) it was medium well
-pork chops weren’t served dry because they were over cooked
Not the server’s fault. Food should be consistent in quality regardless of time served - we were on the later side of the evening.
Awesome lemon drop martinis
The atmosphere is great. We sat outside on the River walk. The waiter was very friendly and professional. We ordered two entrees (spaghetti/meatballs & baked ziti) the food came out prepared just right, hot from the kitchen and tasted very good. The price was very reasonable. They offer complimentary baked bread with oil and it is very tasty. We would go back and try other items. Fun!
The food was amazing our server was the best very kind and attended to all our needs. The location is great. Can’t wait to go back.
Paesano's is a favorite of mine. I've visited all three locations in San Antonio and the food is outstanding each and every time. Shrimp Paesano is my go-to and it never disappoints. That being said, the service at River Walk leaves a bit to be desired. It was very slow and marginally attentive, but that seems to be standard for this location. I work downtown so this is the location I've visited the most and it's never up to the same standard as Lincoln Heights or on Loop 1604 in terms of the quality of service. I'm not sure if it's tough to get good help to work downtown or what. I wish this location could improve that aspect as it really does detract from the quality of the food the kitchen produces and the beautiful ambiance of the River Walk. That being said, I will continue to recommend Paesano's as the food is amazing and of course the Riverwalk is - well - the Riverwalk. That being said I will warn friends and family not to expect the quality of the service to match the quality of the food and to plan accordingly.
Very loud in dining room area
The food was good but pretty pricey. The appetizers were extremely small portioned but the entrees were great. Service was great. The environment was nice but not as fancy as I was expecting.
Our male server was VERY inattentive, no smile, acted like we were a bit of a burden to him, the place wasn't that busy on a Wednesday evening, so we felt slighted. He seemed to be having frequent conversations and laughter with the table nearby that he was also serving however. I ordered the tortellini which was incredibly blah, no flavor, just overboiled noodles with a somewhat cream sauce. My husband had the stuffed shells, he said they were just ok. It was horribly loud inside as it was raining outside and people were stuffed into the inner restaurant area. Couldn't hear ourselves talking. Wouldn't go back on a dare.
Great service, food, Chianti, and view. Paesanos sampler w shrimp, giant calamari, and artichokes was excellent. Shells w sausage almost better. Veal Marsala basically ok.
Service ok. Food....uck. Artichoke appetizer was a canned choke in a cold, thick breading. Ravioli....pasta was delicious, but it was drowned in a tasteless cheese and something. Only the Riverside view saved the night.
