Paesanos - River Walk
Waiter rushed us to order everything at the same time. Our fault for complying. Everything came out almost simultaneously within minutes, wine, appetizers, bread, salads, entrees. There was not enough room on the table for all that and we felt extremely rushed. Of course that’s what they wanted - to herd people through like cattle and turn tables. Bus boy spilled water on the people behind us as he rushed to clear tables. I was afraid to order their big entrees (that it would cost a lot and be disappointing)- so i got an individual pizza instead- it was undercooked and had a strange sauce (peppery) for my taste. Worst dinner we had on the RiverWalk. I think this place can be good - just wasn’t for us.
The food was only ok and the server seemed bothered to be there. We were in town with our family of 5 and thought we would try it and were very disappointed.
Great food and atmosphere!
The Shrimp Paesano is what you should order ! Nice wine list and great service
Picked Paesanos for my moms 60th birthday because they can accommodate gluten free. When my mom asked the waiter for a gluten free menu or to at least point out the gluten free options, the waiter rudely told her to google it and pull it up on her phone and then walked off. Then, I asked for a margarita on the rocks and asked if they made homemade margaritas and the waiter laughed and said its "definitely a mix". The shrimp paesano was mediocre but the service was the most disappointing part, especially when we booked the reservation for a special occasion. Will never return to that location.
Overall them food was good and the portions were large.
The wait staff was above average.
The only draw back was they had tables everywhere to the point that they overlapped in some places making it difficulty to maneuver around. Yes it was crowded but having more tables to accommodate the crowd hampered the overall ambience of a fine Italian dinner.
Absolutely amazing!!!! Great service and great food. Party of 5 and was seated on friday night 5 mins early. we all ordered different entrees and each was as good as the others. Server was attentive and made excellent recommendations. Definately a MUST when visiting the Riverwalk or San Antonio period!!
Spring break at the Riverwalk. The food was great and the Paesano Shimp are to die for, don’t forget to order them atleast as an app or make a meal out of it with some spaghetti. One of my favorite places ever!!
Paesanos rocks!!!! Great food, great scene by the Riverwalk... Our waiter was excellent
Our best meal in San Antonio...hands down. The inside of the restaurant has a great ambiance. The staff was not trying to rush us to flip a table, even on a busy Spring Break night. Amazing food and great service.
We chose it because it is vegetarian friendly. We got there early and were seated at a table that was so close to a bunch strollers. Yes, it’s right by riverside, that’s probably the reason it makes it pricey. Pizza was good. Pasta was not spectacular, which we can probably find it half the price somewhere else. Requested to have another set of utensils with napkin but it was never brought to us. We would not go back nor recommend to others.
Was a nice place to eat by the water. Food was fine but not outstanding, same can be said about the service.
It took more than 45 minutes to get our food after we ordered. Food quality went downhill since the last time I ate there.
During on Monday evening, restaurant was very crowded and very loud. Aside from not being able to have a decent conversation with my family, due to noise levels, the food was good, service was good.
Very easy reservation. Good waiter. Shrimp Paesano is amazing! It's so good and different than any other shrimp dish I've ever had. Lots of different complex flavors and cooked just perfectly.
The food was sub par, it was cold, the server had too many tables, noisy, crowded restaurant.
Service was excellent food was very average
Only okay, not terrible but definitely not worth what we paid and not memorable.
Celebrating our grandson getting engaged to his lovely fiance. Malcom, was outstanding. We have been lots of places, and his attention to our dinner was really special, so, please pass this along to him.
The River Walk was unbelievably crowded on the day we went. I wisely dropped my party off close by and started looking for a parking space. 40 minutes later I joined my party at an outdoor table. Our waiter had kept my plate warm and the Shrimp Paesano was all that I’ve come to expect. The food, service, river side dining, and the short walk to The Majestic make it one of our favorite places to eat before attending a show.
My wife and i ate here a year or so ago and we enjoyed it. This time i had a group of 8 and the experience was not good. They were very busy, but you should expect that being on the Riverwalk. 20 min to get a drink, 45 min to order. Main course came out in 30 min, but they forgot our appetizers. Food was over cooked and dry.
We had a great experience. A business meeting with the perfect ambience and wait staff.
Calamari fingers - meh, were chewy and lacked flavor
Mussels - meh, grew up on the East Coast and this mussel presentation could never compare
Shrimp Paesano - i didn’t order it, but two people at the table did and said it was delicious.
Ribeye - someone said it was worth every penny, could cut it with a butter knife
Crab Stuffed Salmon - i had this dish, it was delicious. i never eat a full pasta dish, but i ate every bite
Food was cold and over cooked when brought out by waiter after waiting almost an hour for it. Had to send it back and it was burnt and still not right. Asked to speak to manager and they never came around. Very disappointed overall.
Food was lukewarm and my wife got sick later that evening. She had shrimp paesano as that is one of their specialties. Will not go back again
We had a wonderful view of the river walk, the food was amazing, and atmosphere was second to none. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great experience in San Antonio!
Slightly higher priced Italian than the norm, entrees on the pricey side and don't include a salad. Shrimp Paesano was good but rich. Have had this dish in the past, but didn't recall it sitting in a pool of rich sauce....hesitant to order again or request lightly sauced.
The linguine with shrimp scampi was amazing! Loved our meal. I would highly recommend.
First, I would like to state that the service we received from Veronica was great; she was very friendly and outgoing.
There are, however, a few improvements that would go a long way to improve the overall experience. First and foremost, fresh cracked pepper and grated parmesan cheese should be offered with every salad course and entree. Secondly, I believe the best way to make Paesanos stand out to tourist who walk or ride the water taxis of the river walk is to ensure each table along the sidewalk and water are skirted. This makes Paesanos out from all of the other rag tag dining venues. After all, you want tourists to stop to see what makes you so special.
Enjoyed dining at this restaurant. Will defiygo again.
Food service was terrible waited more than 45 minutes for our food after ordering and no ever refilled our water.
Was a great experience. They were able to get us on river over an hour before our reservation. Excellent!!
Outstanding food and service near the river walk during the evening during the lantern show very pretty
Waiter was somewhat inattentive.
Service and food was excellent. Oso Buco and Shrimp meals were both really good. Great location on the Riverwalk with both indoor and outdoor seating.
We are locals and had company in from out of town. We had made a reservation. There were four of us on a Sunday night. There were plenty of tables available outside. It was a slow night. The hostess vehemently refused to let us sit outside because all she had were six tops open. She had several of them… Instead, they put us in a cramped table inside.
The food and service were outstanding, but I will not be going back.
The food was great and the service was amazing, could not have asked for a better dinner on the Riverwalk
I love their signature dish- Shrimp Paesano. And as usual- did not disappoint.
4 star due to noise, seating (felt like sardines, and waitress being very busy. Sh dis. Good job- but not th usual attentive servic we hav had in the past.
