Paesanos - River Walk
Outstanding food and service near the river walk during the evening during the lantern show very pretty
Waiter was somewhat inattentive.
Service and food was excellent. Oso Buco and Shrimp meals were both really good. Great location on the Riverwalk with both indoor and outdoor seating.
We are locals and had company in from out of town. We had made a reservation. There were four of us on a Sunday night. There were plenty of tables available outside. It was a slow night. The hostess vehemently refused to let us sit outside because all she had were six tops open. She had several of them… Instead, they put us in a cramped table inside.
The food and service were outstanding, but I will not be going back.
The food was great and the service was amazing, could not have asked for a better dinner on the Riverwalk
I love their signature dish- Shrimp Paesano. And as usual- did not disappoint.
4 star due to noise, seating (felt like sardines, and waitress being very busy. Sh dis. Good job- but not th usual attentive servic we hav had in the past.
Their menu indicates that they have two different white wine sauce in fact they only have one… Unfortunately not the one that I like. We ordered the del mare seafood pasta and it in no way resembled the photograph in all of their advertisements, and in fact, there was even a broken mussel shell. They’re puttanesca sauce had very little flavor and Cleary was someone’s idea of a sauce that they decided to simply call “puttanesca.”
We were unable to find a parking spot downtown - traffic was HORRIBLE! - we gave up and went out to Paesano's 1604 and had a lovely evening. Riverwalk was way too crowded!
Felt like royalty using our reservation. We showed up 23 minutes prior to our time and they sat us down right away. Waiter was prompt and attentive. Food was plenty and delicious. It’s slightly above average. Had the Cheesecake for dessert and it was very delicious and yummy. We also got a bottle of wine a bit over price but still good considering we were celebrating a birthday.
Valentine’s Day. Loved our waitress and the food was amazing. Great wine selection as wwll
The location is great. The service is adequate, yet rushed. Our favorite dish, Shrimp Paesanos was less than stellar - overcooked, tough, oily. It was nice to sit along the river - and we thought by having a late lunch, early dinner it would not be too crowded - it was moderately busy. Not bad by any standard. Paesanos is a favorite in my family, but I am not sure we will visit this location again.
This was a restaurant not to miss! It is ALWAYS crowded, so reservations are strongly recommended. With reservations, we were seated right away, received stellar service and the food was nothing short of amazing. We enjoyed the Giant Calamari with 2 dipping sauces, the Parmesan Encrusted Snapper and the Tiramisu. Could not have been better. We'll return again and again!
Food & service were great. However, the River Walk Paesaos is just not the same as the original one.
The calamari is why I come to Paesanos- large, succulent portions that are marinated in milk for maximum tenderness. I love the Shrimp Paesanos pasta dish- simple but so yummy! The wait staff have always been very attentive and kind.
Outstanding food. River walk environment. Will go back.
This is not the place for a quiet or romantic dinner. There food was warm at best. The chicken (parmigiana) lacked a crunch and was chewy. Their signature dish, shrimp paesano, was underwhelming. We had an appetizer, two entrees and a single glass of wine totaling over $100. Overall, this was a very unsatisfying dining experience.
Very bland and average food. Service was just ok
Fantastic service especially for a large group
The shrimp Paesano and tuna app were amazing. Unfortunately the veal marsala could have been a lot better. It might be best not to drown the side of pasta in the marsala sauce. It was really a lot and soggy. It's too bad because the sauce was very flavorful. The cut of veal was very fatty too. Our server was very good and attentive.
We wanted to watch the lantern parade. I requested a river table however when we arrived the staff explained that people that call in the reservations have priority. We were seated on the patio instead, ended up being a nice area. Food was decent and priced accordingly for a high end tourist spot. The service was bad. Our waiter was more interested in speaking with other staff members. He forgot to bring bread with the garlic oil. He also did not turn in our order at first - had to retake it lol. Then rarely returned back to refill drinks. I won’t be back
The noodles were overcooked, the veal was over-breaded, and the Canoles tasted like they came out of a freezer.
The wait staff was excellent, the ambiance was exactly what we had hoped for. The only problem was the food served.
Really great food and wonderful service. We will definitely go back to Paesanos.
I thought the restaurant was overpriced for what we received. My wife and I ordered the Parmesan shrimp app. For $15 we received 3 large shrimp. My wife ordered chicken parm which she said was good, but nothing outstanding. The marinara was a little bland. I ordered the seafood pasta with spicy tomatoe sauce. The plate came out with a huge glob of sauce all over the plate covering everything. You could not see the seafood for all of the sauce. We were not offered cheese for the top of our dish. We both had Ice tea. The bill was $87. I have my own catering business and enjoy cooking and good food. I did not enjoy Paesanos.
The food was very good (Sampler appetizer; Eggplant Parmesan, Fettucini Alfredo, Lasagna, Sesame Crusted Tuna, Penne entrees; Cannoli dessert) and the portions were HUGE - no one in our group could finish their meal. The service was spectacular - our waiter and other waitstaff were very attentive. The wine was overpriced but we expect that when we go to restaurants in touristy areas.
Shrimp Paesanos was excellent. Service a bit slowly but professional
Went for an anniversary dinner with my boyfriend. It took forever for someone to serve us. Our waiter was nice once we finally got waited on. He got the lasagna and I got the fettuccine alfredo but I added grilled chicken. Our food was good except the grilled chicken had NO flavor. I don’t recommend adding grilled chicken to your meal!
Food was excellent, waiter was attentive and respectful of our time. Thank you.
That was the most lovely evening and best meal of the vacation, in every aspect!!!
The appetizers were tasty, we had the garlic crostini, fresh mozzarella and the Paesanos shrimp which was the best part of the meal. Our chicken Parmesan was not great at all. The chicken didn’t seem so fresh and the sauce on the spaghetti tasted like Prego. The ambiance would’ve been nicer if it was warmer out, but that obviously was out of their control.
Best Italian food in San Antonio! Their signature dish is legendary, great place for family get togethers/birthdays, special occasions.
My pasta was burnt, and the waiter was extremely rude..review wouldn't allow zero stars, but that's what he deserved. Horrible!!
Always great food and good service. Highly recommend!
Expensive coffee for just one cup!
Everything else was excellent
So-so experience. Wait people were nice but spread thin. We had to flag people down for everything - another drink, water, our bill etc. We had some great food experiences in San Antonio, but this was not one of them. The special salad was good. The ‘signature’ shrimp Parsano was ssooo disappointing- shrimp was ok, pasta was gummy/blah and the sauce was tasteless. The seafood pasta dish was similar with a little better sauce. The tables were absolutely jammed together so you were in the midst of multiple conversations & wait people trying to squeeze between tables.
We really enjoyed our meal! Everything that we tried was good. I recommend this place. The tables are a little small for four people and not all of our food fit very well on the table. However it is next to the Riverwalk and so you do get to people watch if that’s your thing. We will return.
This was THE best date day with my husband. The service was amazing. Food was outstanding. The view of the river-gorgeous. Mimosas were delish! I love this place!
Our soup and salad came moments before our entrees, so we did not get enjoy them despite spending $13 on them. In addition the waiter told us the soup of the day, so when a different type came other then lobster bisque, we were confused. All food was good... it just felt rushed. Husband had ahi tuna and liked it a lot. I have a chicken pasta dish that was also tasty.
Wonderful food, attentive waitstaff, all on the Riverwalk. You never disappoint us, year after year
$15 for 3 appetizer shrimp that showed up WELL after the meal? The waiter said he would bring us canolis to make up for it and then acted shocked, almost offended when he forgot and we brought it up as he dropped the check. Once we got our food he stopped checking in and refilling our drinks. Overall the little food that you got was tasty but the service was underwhelming.
Food was phenomenal, pricing is decent. Unfortunately our waiter was sub-par.
