Paesanos - River Walk
We were so looking forward to eating here, it came highly recommended.
We would not go back to this restaurant if someone offered free meals. This was the most greasy and bland food we have ever eaten. However, the fresh baked hot bread was the only thing edible and tasty.
We were a party of 6 and totally regretted our choice after taking the first bite.
Our waiter was not friendly, & couldn't remember what we all ordered.
This place was packed and we think it was because of it being on the river walk.
Love the Shrimp Paesanos. Had a great dinner and service was good.
I’ve ate at the Paesanos on 1604 & the food is always amazing. Same ole story at The Riverwalk location. Luckily I was able to walk off some of my dinner before heading back to Austin..Always a great meal had at Paesanos 👍🏻
Good food and landed a nice table on the river walk. The waiter was very nice and on his game. Thank you for the hospitality and great service!
Salmon was dry, tuna was bland, service was great. Paisano shrimp appetizer was great. The drinks were decent.
Food was totally meh. The pasta sauce was heavy and tasted as if it were canned. The salad dressing tasted like Kraft. There was nothing to write home about and it was pricey for a restaurant that was comparable to a chain like Olive Garden. Our server was very nice but all food was brought out by different people who were mixing up orders and had no idea whom ordered what.
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at Paisanos. We chose a table along the rivers edge that gave us some separation from the crowd and believe it or not, a great quiet spot. Our server Scott was funny, knowledgeable and professional. We truly enjoyed our meal and would definitely return.
Great we loved it
Brought my girlfriend to celebrate her birthday. We were greeted by a very unfriendly hostess who didn't smile and made it seem like she was doing us a favor showing us to our table. The food was adequate as the cheese on my veal parmigiana was burned and I wasn't even provided a knife for cutting the veal. To top it off it was room temperature warm. The ambiance lacked character. It was dark and reminded me of a basement. Overall not an impressive showing for a first-time visit.
Danny Rae was the absolute best server ever. It was my birthday, went with my husband, sis, bro in law and 2 y/o toddler and Danny Rae was so accommodating. All the food was amazing. We shared the artichoke dip, bruschetta and fresh mozzarella. Then we shared a pepperoni pizza and the Shrimp Paesano pasta.. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Not the best Italian food but adequate. Very dark. Needed more lighting
It is very unfortunate that I write this review. Paesano's has always been my favorite restaurant in San Antonio...but I rarely visit the Riverwalk location. We had a party of 10 for Tuesday, August 20 at 7:30 pm. We were in San Antonio for a McLane Company event at the convention center. A few of our party had arrived early and had a few cocktails. When the rest of the party arrived, we were greeted by the others and they were loud to be sure. But we don't see each other but one time a year. Our waiter had already decided those that had arrived early were not going to be served; not only alcohol but food as well. I attempted to diffuse the situation...we were going to have dinner and wine but the attendees in question were not going to have any more to drink. That was not good enough. Our waiter deserted the table and did not return. When I got up to find him I asked him to come and take our order...telling him we were going to stay for dinner but the attendees in question were not going to be allowed to have any more to drink and they were going to quiet down. That was not enough. Our waiter had decided we were not going to be served at all. We decided to leave. You should know we also had another party of 14 in attendance that same night. We will not be back to Paesano's...EVER again. That pains me. I have been a patron of the Quarry location for more than 20 years.
It was our first time there and truly enjoyed our time there . Our server was amazing
Very personal and nice . He was Rudy . We will definitely go back !
Had reservations for 7 on a Sunday afternoon for lunch during Restaurant Week. Restaurant was almost empty, yet we were seated right next to other diners, then we had to specifically ask for the specials menu. We all had a cocktail, appetizers and entrees. The bruschetta was soggy, the calamari was not chewy, but not tender either. The salad was not as advertised and we waited too long for our entree...but at least that tasted was very good. When we got the bill we were shocked, charged full price for all our entrees instead of the Restaurant Week special...overcharged by $130! The manager did correct that after the fact, but I will not return to this location. I have never had such issues at the 1604 location which I usually frequent (but do not participate in Restaurant Week).
The service was excellent and the food wonderful as always. Great family time!
The food was tasty and the service was truly great! They knew exactly how to accommodate our large group and were both efficient and attentive! My only minor complaint was that the interior was a little loud and I was hoping for a little better ambience. However, I would definitely recommend!
Great place to take the family
My wife, daughter, and I had a lunch date for Restaurant Week. We had an awesome time and the service and food were great!
Patio seating not well laid out, wait station is main focus and visually distracting.
Food was so- so, not bad but not worth the price. Pizza was really good.
Service is okay.
Many other restaurants within walking distance compete in this price range with much better food and overall experience.
Food was excellent, drinks were yummy. Server initially rang in appetizers incorrectly, charging us an additional $30ish, but was willing to correct it once it was brought up.
Excellent meal. Highly recommend!
Better quality food than most other restaurants on the River Walk. My wife and I were both very pleased and will return again.
Great service, Danny Ray knows his stuff! The food was amazing, steaks cooked to perfection...and I ordered mine MW. A wonderful night out celebrating a birthday!
The food here used to be fabulous. The last few times we have been here the chicken has been dry and food overall very mediocre.
I think it was a nice restaurant with a nice ambience. Wait staff was very nice.
Took my wife out to eat to celebrate our wedding, she loves Italian, I love seafood and we got the best of both worlds!
The great service is only surpassed by the food! We always eat at Paesanos when we are in San Antonio because it is consistently delicious. Highly recommend this place! You won't be disappointed!
The calamari was like none we have ever seen or tasted. I honestly don't know what it was. The so called cocktail sauce was their tasteless tomato sauce with Tobasco. They did take it off our bill. Caesar salad was good. Veal Parmegian was deep fried. Tasteless.
Great food. Service was so so but I think that was because of our waiter. Other tables were served better. However all in all I would recommend this restaurant.
Our evening was fabulous. Service impeccable. And the food was superb. We have frequented this place numerous times. And will return !!!! Thank u !!!!!
Yes, it's a little bit of a tourist trap and runs a little expensive, but the food was good and the service was better.
Always an awesome experience. Best seat on the Riverwalk
Fun meal and good service.
Service was great. We sat inside which had a nice atmosphere. The Paesanos Shrimp are to die for!
As always food was fabulous. Love this place
Overall, it was OK... not great, but not horrible... I’ve had much better Paesanos experiences at other locations. Our appetizers and salads arrived (at the same time) about three minutes after we ordered them... we hadn’t even received our drink order yet (which we ordered before ordering the appetizers)... I’m guessing they reached in the frig and pulled them out out. Halfway through our salads/appetizers, the main course and drinks arrived. The shrimp Paesanos was tasty as always... the restaurant had a old, burnt grease smell to it... really bad as you walked pass the bar to the restroom. Not sure of the cause or duration, but it was unpleasant. I’d go back to Paesanos, but not sure of the Riverwalk location.
Booked a group of 9 - table was ready 20 minutes early!!
Food was delicious and it was fun sitting outside watching the people and the boats go by.
Half of our party arrived early and were accomodated. We ordered cocktails and appetizers and it was great at this point. After the rest of the group arrived it did not go so well. Once we all ordered our main course it took longer than I expected to have the food delivered (40+ min). Two people in our group did not get thier food when the rest was delivered. One (me) took 5 min more to be delivered. Another in our group took 10 more min. The rest of our party was finished eating at that point.
The food (except the appetizers) was marginal. The Salmon (last to be delivered) was watery. My Baked Ziti (delivered late) tasted like canned sauce poured over pasta with two pieces of squash and two pieces of zucchini. It was not carmelized or "bakied" at all.
I believe this place is focusing on tourist so much with the ambience they don't worry about repeat customers.
We brought some friends from out of town and everyone absolutely loved it! Sat on the porch and overlooked the river walk. From appetizers to desserts, it was all phenomenal. Really good food for a really good price.
