At Padrecito we pride ourselves on creating a community atmosphere while serving culinary creations and libations utilizing the freshest of ingredients. At the core of our offering is a homage to original Mexican dishes made from scratch each day. House-made tortillas and sauces create a foundation for our ever seasonal menu. While unique and carefully crafted enchiladas and tacos have become house staples. We also take our tequila and beverages very seriously as we search out hand crafted and boutique distilleries to round out our over 60 in house tequilas and mescals. Padrecito Ratings and Reviews
The food is transcendant Mexican fare. The wait staff are great. The prices are what the current prices are. !st time there was a wild 4/20 evening dinner and 2nd time was my husband's birthday on a Wednesday night. The sound was deafening and the lighting on the balcony was dim. We took the fake candles out of the container to use by hand to see what the food looked like. I moved my chair from across the small table so we could talk. TOO LOUD & TOO DARK. But the food is fantastic. A friend says to go back when the outside seating is useable. Will do.
We both have been big fans of padrecito and decided to pop in for lunch today. We were seated immediately in a nice Booth by a very friendly Hostess however the server was slow to bring back the drinks and guac 15 minutes later, as,we sat in our booth looking around me for the server. Our server was nowhere to be seen and I inquired with someone who I think has the manager and after a few minutes later I checked with the bartender and thr manager came up to me and told me" it's not the bartender's fault I told you I'd be right with you." A very rude comment for something completely unnecessary. Needless to say we walked out and I will never go back. Sad since this has been an institution for us for many many years.
I've been to Padrecito about three times now. I understand that the location of the restaurant means that its prices are inflated--hardly unusual for San Francisco. But $16 for two medium-sized (and overbaked and therefore dry) enchiladas with no sides put me in a bad mood. A side of rice is $6 and a side of beans is $8. Fourteen dollars for rice and beans, meaning two enchiladas with rice and beans, a Mexican food basic, is $30 before taxes! That is absolutely ridiculous and I will never go to Padrecito again, despite its convenience a block away from my house. But they are always full, so they don't need my business.
Another neighborhood gem that we'd been wanting to checkout and a birthday gave us the reason. We both had the chicken enchiladas with mole sauce and they were amazing. The coconut water drenched shrimp ceviche was quite nice, and we had delicious guacamole to start! Of course the margaritas we enjoyed were icing on the proverbial birthday cake!! Highly recommend a trip to Cole Valley for this one, espesh when you're feeling like a bit more than your (amazing) Mission burrito!
We had a perfect Sunday brunch experience here. They were accommodating for our large group reservation and service was friendly and attentive. Cocktails were very good. Everyone loved their food as well. Highly recommend for brunch and would love to come back and try dinner!
This place was "okay". The fresh chips were great along with the salsa. The avocado had no flavor and the tacos were small and overpriced. The enchiladas were good and the margaritas were overpriced for a small glass and they were nothing special. I wouldn't recommend this place nor would I ever go again.
It's always a treat to dine at Padrecito, always a neighborhood gem in Cole Valley! On this occasion, dear friends from Switzerland (who used to live in Cole Valley when there was no Padrecito!) were visiting. It's hard to get good Mexican food in Zurich so they wanted to go to Padrecito. We were not at all disappointed.....the food was yummy and everyone loved the place. Thank you to everyone who made our meal very special.
Service was sufficient. (Server was not as knowledgeable about the many different tequilas as I wanted them to be--couldn't answer any of my questions). Food was excellent. Highlights: ceviche, flautata de res, calamari tacos, brussel sprouts. The octopus was truly outstanding and the star of the evening:charred and smoky with a caper/tomato/lime relish, paired with a crispy plantain. Flavor combos were out of this world.
Been to Padrecito more times than I can count. Excellent Mexican food updated for 2017--who'd ever think of chipotle duck chilaquiles? The GF swears by them. Best mole in town. Great tequila selection as well -- just watch out for the arctic char tacos. Had them once and they were greasy and fishy (although that may have been a bad day because many diners love them). Reservations advised. And, because it's in Cole Valley, parking is nearly impossible so take public, Uber, or Lyft. Sunday brunch is wonderful as well.
