West Malling, widely considered the gastro-capital of the Maidstone area, offers a wide range of restaurants and Pad Thai is it’s finest South East Asian offering, tempting in diners from across the South East. One of the reasons could be the combination of olde worlde Tudor building and traditionally inviting Thai inspired décor, another could be the warm welcome and excellent service but undoubtedly the main draw would be the unsurpassed food. Created by a team with a history serving the Thai Royal family, the traditional dishes are authentic and delicious, made with excellent, fresh ingredients.

Lovely meal as always. Never had a bad meal here. One criticism on this occasion however was that despite booking a week in advance they tried to sit us outside when we arrived. They have put a marquee up outside with a patio heater but it's not warm enough and I refused as I did not want to eat my meal in my coat. They did find space indoors but I would check when booking next time.
The food was nice but no better than any other Thai restaurant in the surrounding area, but it was well over priced and the manageress was very rude. Unfortunately on these two comments I definitely won’t be returning.
Great food and had a lovely time. Thanks
Food was excellent.
Service; we felt rushed and was asked to move and have our coffee outside in their garden area...
Not all staff were wearing masks...
Food was very good and the main reason for visiting. The service was very hit and miss - there were several waitresses but no specific one for us. A particular waitress was incredibly rude and didn’t acknowledge (speak or look at) us at all, almost threw our plates on the table and took our plate before we had finished. No one checked if we needed anything else or if what we had was ok. There was a delay with dessert (it had been forgotten) but no apology.
Wonderful Thai food, served in a relatively quiet atmosphere which enables you to have a conversation. Would highly recommend.
The food quality and taste was good and comparable to other Thai restaurants of similar standing. The service was satisfactory. However, the lady (we think she’s either the manager or the owner) who took our order was quite harsh in her mannerism and rather forceful in telling us what we must have in terms of side dishes to go with our main course despite the fact that we’ve told her that we’ve eaten Thai food frequently. We visited this restaurant many years ago and was put off by this same lady but we had thought after about 10 years she would either mellowed or no longer there. Despite the food was quite nice we will not revisit again.
Great food as always ....would recommend...booking necessary
Very average. Decor dated and only one shared toilet !
Very overpriced, small portions, struggled to find a table for us even though we’d booked.
Felt a table had just been put together for us. I realise it’s tough times, but a table near the stairs and toilet not great. Not even a tablecloth!! Defo needs updating.
Turned up for booed table and were told we had to sit in the rain or come back 45 mins later, returned only to be told 30 to 45 later, only after a energetic conversation explaining the trouble with diabites ment not possible did we get a table by a open door.
The service was appalling- not by the staff but the owner who twice took our half drunk drinks and argued with other tables in that area including telling one table they had to move half way through their meal as the table was booked for someone else.
We know the restraint is expensive and we allow for that but 8 quid for banana fritter that is almost 16 times the cost of the ingredients and yes I Know the general rule of thumb is 8 x the cost.
Felt sorry for the staff being let down by managment
Terrible service , card machine not working , have to walk to cash point in rain , food was late and customer service was shocking , had to remind staff of our drink order as got left waiting for our drinks , would not return
The QR code menus just didn't work. We had no signal in the restaurant and their wifi wouldn't reach to where we where sitting so that was not a great start.
We ordered the set meal for 4 and they got the order wrong. We didn't notice until the mains turned up. We thought the starters were poor but were talking so much we never noticed it was the vegetarian option.
Once the mains was delivered we realised their mistake and they were quick to correct it.
Portion sizes a little on the small side but food was nice overall. Service was good and prices about right.
A wonderful restaurant with lovely staff and excellent food. It is run impeccably by the owner and serves authentic and tasty Thai cuisine. In the heart of West Malling village this is a must visit!
Excellent food and service as always but, due to Coronavirus restrictions, ambience not quite the same as usual
Great food as always with a friendly welcome- missed it during lockdown
Great food.. wish we had known about the lovely garden.. as an old building they can't have Aircon and it was so hot inside
We had a nice time however, it was disappointing when we were asked to vacate our table despite having not finished our drinks.
We had a fantastic meal
We arrived a bit earlier than expected and we were welcomed upstairs to wait
By the time we were served was around 9 so we waited more than half an hour
The restaurant was full and staff quite busy. Towards the end I had the impression that we were rushed to finish our dessert. Dishes were taken away and we were not asked if we wanted another drink after the meal.
Apart from that we were quite happy. We shall come back.
Too many waitresses/waiters per table
No one knew what they were doing. Asked several times if we wanted to pay the bill when we had already paid
The food was very average, if I had known it was a set menu I would have not booked, the service was just ok and ordinarily I wouldn’t have tipped due to the average service but they already added the service charge to the bill, it was very expensive and not worth the money and I will not be eating there anymore
Have eaten here a few times, the food is always really good.
Absolutely amazing food, never had a Thai as good as this. All the food is cooked freshly to order and only the best ingredients are used. Manta and Bill are incredibly welcoming and friendly. I would recommend everyone to go to Pad Thai - you're severely missing out if you don't!!
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious freshly cooked food
We visited for a birthday celebration. Everyone commented on how good the food was especially the duck dishes and pad thai noodles. The restaurant was not very full so we had quite a private experience, we were not rushed and payment was discreet. A little bit pricey but great for special occasions.
Very expensive for size of portion. Service was slow. Won't be returning
very cold in the restaurant and thought for what we had was exspensive
We were the only table on this quiet Tuesday evening so we had outstanding service and food. The owner was very helpful with food choices and I really enjoyed her special desert. This is not a cheap restaurant but the food was lovely and worth the little extra.
Visited here with friends. Owner is very knowledgeable about the dishes and nothing was to much trouble - could make dishes to you taste, also adapt dishes to be vegetarian, we were very impressed! Everything tasted wonderful!
Good place. Food always nice. Service well off pace this occasion.
As always the food and service was really good. We always enjoy the experiance.
Food and service first class. Slightly noisy and moved table but otherwise ok.
Good food, fast service
Overpriced for food you could more than likely do yourself, Rude owner who spent the whole time bossy the young staff around in front of customers who then wanted to argue with me as to why I wouldn't pay the service charge which had been added and not listed on the bill.
I thought a service charge was optional🤔. Would have happily payed it if the service wasn't a joke.
To top it alll off after saying to the young waitress 'I don't know how you work here' her reply was: 'I don't know how I work here, either'
😄
Great look 👍🏻👍🏻
Great experience. Also wonderful food.Recommend to all.
Great Birthday treat.
Good food, friendly attentive staff but the service felt rushed. We sat down at 7:30pm and the table cloth was literally taken away at 8:30pm.
First time visit and we was very impressed with the food and the recommendations from the owner. Will definitely be back with more friends!
A lovely restaurant, in a beautiful building. The food was amazing, I have never tasted Pad Thai like it and the owner was able to advise us on number of plates and explain the authenticity of the dishes chosen. Desert menu was especially interesting
Great food and great service. Will definitely be coming back.
