Great lunch before Biltmore visit.
Just normal tavern food & drink. No biggie.
It was a great place to take my sister for her birthday, and a good start to our visit in Asheville. She enjoyed the pork chop dinner, and I was very pleased with the chicken.
Great service, beer & food, easy reservation, great find!
Good food. Friendly service. Timing of different courses where a tad fast.
Ribs were amazing . Fried green tomatoes done perfect . Only downside was haddock for fish was not fresh ..frozen...my husband is from England so was disappointed . Waiter great .
We were warmly greeted and seated at a high top where we could watch the Tampa vs Boston hockey playoff game.
Great selection of craft beer and a menu with something for everyone.
Food was fresh and flavorful.
Service was outstanding!
We'll return again!
Pepsi instead of Coke! Will never understand why restaurants offer their “valued customers “ the number two choice. Also, they don’t seem to know that chili with beans is NOT chili. Just trying to help you get better.
We dined early, with a party of 8. One of us was served chicken that was ice cold. Two in our group ordered salmon cooked through. One piece needed to go back 3 times as it still was not cooked! One person asked for more sauce for her taco twice and was brought salsa twice! I ordered 2 apps as my meal and they were brought out way before the rest of the food, even when I specifically told the server to bring them with everyone’s meals. Not the best night at Pack’s Tavern.
Everything was delicious and the service was great! The only drawback was the noise level-it
was hard to hear anybody talking!
Great service. Good selection of good and Carolina beers.
the service was outstanding, the food was really good, not gastronomic, but tasty and fairly priced. I would eat here as often as I could, but the crowds sometimes make that difficult. it is in the middle of the tourist area, and they know a great meal when they see it.
Food was delicious! Service was slow.
Made reservation and glad we did. Several people waiting. Great atmosphere w lots of different beers on tap. Great variety. Almost to much to choose from. The pot roast was awesome. The ribs were so so. We had the deviled eggs as an appetizer and they were great! Definitely would go back
I never review. Have to for Packs. It was a busy night and there was a mistake made. It happens. No big deal. The way it was handled is why I will always come to Packs. No BS apology like everywhere else. It was like the world stopped, they corrected the problem, didn’t dwell on it and moved on. 100% professional. The food is awesome also. Great place.
The food was excellent and the price was great too
Good food with a very good craft beer selection. Packs has much more than just pub food fare.
Always a great spot for delicious food. Varied menu has something for everyone.
In from out of town and wanted a place not to expensive but still was representative of area.
Good choice food was good service was slow but overall a nice place great for having drinks and a nice dinner.
Loved everything about it! We are locals but it was our first time there and we can't wait to go back! Everything was so yummy! Love the selection of beers on tap. We've found our new go-to date night spot. Service was impeccable also. I manage a restaurant and haven't been that impressed with a server in a long time.
Unfortunately their oven is not working so several of the menu items were not available. I ordered the Salisbury steak special and did not enjoy it. I only took a couple bites and they did not offer to get me something else or comp me for my meal. The waitress was not very friendly. I've had other great experiences at Packs Tavern. I will return and still recommend it
We love this restaurant. It’s our go-to place for a casual reasonably priced meal. Conveniently located in downtown Asheville.
My wife and I planned a date to Asheville to see a concert at the orange peal and we booked a room at the trendy Aloft in downtown, so, we were very excited to be able to make a reservation and plan our trip to include packs tavern.... upon arrival we were seated promptly and our server was great, we started off with some pretzels and beer cheese, the cheese was gross, it tasted like cheez wiz with some funky bear poured into it. It was very thick and the pretzel was very very tough. We called the manager over and we told him our thoughts on how it tasted... he immediately got defensive and said "first off our cheese is not oUT of a can it is made fresh in house".... if that sir is fresh to you, then you do not deserve to run that place making false claims... so we sent them back. Not trying g to be difficult we order a different appetizer, not that the manager offered a sudjestion or even an option we might like we decided to try the crap cakes... no typo there... they were obviously made by the newly hired person. And the ingredients were so not correct... it tasted like onion mush deep fried in clam oil.... gross.
So we kindly asked for our check and when up to magic mushroom and ate wings...
We were so disappointed in our meal at packs that we had been waiting literally months for that it set at mood of defense for the night of what else could go wrong ....
It will take alot to have us back
Great find via Openable! Great food, service and location.
Awesome place to eat. Great waitstaff. Will definitely go again!
Glad we had a reservation, they were packed. Had a great local brew & food was great.
Beer was Cold Food was Hot and the pizza was excellent!
Lunch with a friend. The fish tacos are my favorite and the sweet potato fries are wonderful. More casual than a lot of downtown restaurants which is a good thing. I hear the burgers are great too
We had wonderful service and the food was outstanding. I would definitely recommend the Bison Meatloaf. Perfectly seasoned and perfect portions.
Pack's Tavern is one of my favorite places for a casual meal with friends. The food is almost always excellent, although on this visit the roasted Brussels sprouts were disappointing. The El Cubano (Cuban sandwich) was great. Pack's also has a great beer list, including many of Asheville's best brews.
A delightful surprise as I don't normally seek out pubs for dining. Impressed by the extensive menu of options, many locally sourced ingredients, and seafood that tasted too fresh to be served in the mountains of North Carolina! Serve was exceptional. I will return and highly recommend to anyone traveling to Asheville. Hint-they take reservations too!
The service was excellent. Meg was great. She even remembered us from a prior visit. The hot food came out hot, and the cold food was cold. There were five of us and an example of how good the food was, we cleaned all the plates thoroughly. It was delicious.
My husband and I decided to have dinner here and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The servers were very friendly and efficient. Would definitely come back again if in Asheville.
Excellent food and service. Our waiter Cooper did an excellent job taking care of us.
Our server was very nice and attentive. It was our first time at this restaurant and we enjoyed it. The French onion soup was good, and not too much before the main meal. I had the pot roast, which was delicious, tender and with good veggies over mashed potatoes. Hubby had the bison meatloaf, which he also enjoyed. We were too full for dessert but maybe next time, the chocolate bread pudding sounded good.
The chicken tenders were the best I have ever had (and I eat a lot of them)
Jake our server was excellent! He was attentive and prompt.
Excellent service. Adaquate food in a town filled with outstanding and unusual food. Probably fine a burger and watching tv sports broadcasts.
Food was awesome and service was phenomenal!! The atmosphere was causal and enjoyable!
Great atmosphere. Food was okay. Shrimp & Grits was solid but nothing extraordinary. Nice selection of local, regional and national draft beers.
