Packers Kitchen + Bar
Located on the pier with expansive views of Drayton Harbor, the dining room harkens back to the area’s origins as an Alaska Packers Association cannery, which served as a center for salmon processing for nearly 80 years.
Unique elements such as old world cannery-inspired dishes, artisanal North coast-inspired sculptures and a custom-built dual-sided wall-inset glass fireplace contribute to creating an ambiance designed to capture an authentic seaside mariner feel. Packers Kitchen + Bar’s dining room seats 110 with patio seating in warm weather months accommodating 50. A private dining area can accommodate up to 12.
Wonderful, absolutely wonderful quality food and presentation. Service was almost always spot-on; super friendly and attentive servers; We will DEFINITELY go back!
Great food, spectacular view.
Great views and location. Pretensious, not so good cauliflower soup or salmon. Chai ice cream good.
Great food and service! It is always a pleasure to visit to enjoy happy hour at sunset!
It was our first time at this place and we are beyond thrilled with it! The food was marvelous, service was wonderful. It was a perfect date night!
will go again. happy with the service. Nice that happy Hour was available in the restaurant
Super slow service. Bar is too far from restaurant and takes a really long time to get drinks. Ordered second round of drinks well in advance of main course arriving and did not receive until almost done with meal. We will not be going here again!
A very disappointing Father's Day Breakfast! We had a reservation for 11:00 and understood that the buffet would be available until 11:30. Upon being seated the server told us that they had just served 400 people breakfast and that he was "sweating badly"...not exactly what we wanted to hear before our meal. There was no menu service so the only option was the "buffet" which was a few tables with dirty table cloths and mostly empty chafing dishes. A very picked over plate of cheese and sliced meats, empty bread basket, no waffles or anyone making them, no bacon and a few greasy sausages at the bottom of the dish. When I asked about having things replenished I was told that they were taking down the buffet in 20 minutes so there would be no more food. When I told our server that this he brought some bacon from the kitchen that had been deep fried...yuck! We paid $25 US (over $30 CAN) plus tip for an awful meal so won't be back for another. In the past we have enjoyed excellent buffet breakfast here but they are clearly trying to save money by featuring very limited food options. Save your hard earned money and eat else where.
We took our friends here to thank them for having us at b their home for a few days. Tried to make a reservation by phone, but left had to leave a message and they never called back (so used Open Table). Waiter was odd and distracted, didn't know the menu, forgot to bring us things (water, silverware). My steak was ok, not great. My wife and a friend had salmon and both said it was overcooked and dry. Overall, it just seems a bit sloppy in delivery and with smallish, so-so portions for the cost. Now that I've been there I don't need to go back.
Was not impressed with menu at all. Went for anniversary dinner and the choices for nice/good food are minimal. With such a beautiful view on the ocean, it amazed me that the frames for the windows sit right at eye level. Was not impressed at all. No seafood nor a good steak were offered on their menu.
Pizza is amazing!
We dined here twice during our stay at the resort. Friendly staff. Food was good and great cocktails. It was a little pricey but was worth it for the convenience and amazing view!
Pierside Kitchen doezent even exist anymore. We found that out when we arrive. They are still listing themselves as Pierside with innacurate menus and pictures. Its called Packers and they don't even have menu service after 11am. Its a buffet after 11am. It was all disappointing. Open Table and Packers need to make their websites accurate.
The menu online was not what they were serving. No fresh fish or any seafood for a "Pier side" restaurant (unless you count frozen fish and chips). We had horrible pizza. I wish I can show you the picture I took of their vegetable pizza!! Felt ripped off especially since we were there for a special occasion and expecting a high quality dinner as per what they advertised online. Shameful bait and switch- actually out-right false advertising
I think semiamoo is a great resort, we really enjoyed are weekend away celebrating our anniversary, no kids, wonderful room, such a nice front desk staff, heavenly massage, snow falling.perfect. saturday's meal at the pierside was really bad, overpriced and i actually for the first time in my life asked to have something. else. the beef dish was burnt grossly fatty. my advice lower your prices.give customers more food. add to your menu. For what we as guest are paying to stay we need premium food and fair amounts. cocktails and beer and wine are right on and your bartenders are awesome
Food Stinks :
we will be back.hope for a change so we dont have to dine in Blaine.
The menu at this restaurant is limited as other reviewers have mentioned, but the dishes are of good quality. That said, the service was not what I would expect at a resort with the prices of this restaurant.
With a reservation, we waited 20 minutes to be seated. Once finally seated, we waited an additional 10 minutes before being acknowledged despite trying to flag someone down to order. Once our server took our order, her service was very good and she apologized and brought a complimentary dessert. I hope this is an anomaly and not the norm as the meal was not cheap.
A beautiful spacious dining experience with excellent views of the Semiahmoo Bay
Very few food choices. Most were unique and not really appealing
We had dinner at Pierside. We ordered roasted duck and it was cooked well. We also liked their pear bread pudding. This is a restaurant with a good ambiance and delicious food.
Don’t Eat Here. We Had dinner at Pierside last night with friends. I had heard that things had finally started improving since the new manager had come onboard last year. The ambience, as usual, was beautiful, but the dinner was a disaster.
I ordered the Cioppino. The seafood itself looked delicious but I couldn’t eat it because it was so spicy. They added so much pepper and red chili flakes that it burnt my tongue. I Sent it back and asked them to hold the spice. It came back 20 minutes later, just as spicy. They replaced chili flakes with Tabasco. It was too late to order anything else so I ended up not having dinner.
The Beef roulade that my friend ordered was cold and tough but he ate it anyway. My girl friend ordered the leg of lamb and it literally was two small medallions. The cost for the lamb was $30. She complained about the portion size and they told her it was because the lamb was high quality. My other friend also ordered the lamb and it was so tough he couldn’t cut it with his knife. He sent it back and they replaced it with lamb that was still tough. So much for high quality.
I am a resident of Semiahmoo and I really want the resort to survive but things need to change. I won’t be going back.
Great food. We shared a crab chowder and a Caesar salad. My wife had a hamburger and I had cioppino. The spiciness of the cioppino was excellent. We shared a bread pudding dessert. Our only complaint is that the service early in the sequence was a bit rushed. The salad arrived before we had completed the chowder. We would have preferred a bit more leisurely pace.
Scallops on their special menu were delicious! Was tempted to order another, but had too much food. Cioppino was ok, I was not fond of the stew. You did get your money’s worth in clams and giant shrimps though. Overall, food was delicious. Bread and butter was even tasty!
Let me preface this review with a caveat. We are early riser's and like to eat early unless entertaining.
When we arrived we were early yes and chose to sit in the waiting area; the hostess did not suggest a drink at the bar or a seat in the waiting area (it seemed we were an inconvenience 11 minutes before our dining reservation). After 2 other couples had been seated we made ourselves known (cleverly hiding in their waiting area) and were seated at a wonderful table by the window and with a great view across the water of the Canadian Rockies.
Our server was cordial and answered all our questions about the menu and even an off beat one I had about the décor.
The Coursed Menu left only two decisions to be made so I had the beef and my wife had the fish; and of course our choice of libation.
All items were artistically presented, excellently prepared and served at a leisurely pace.
Our server must have been given instructions to not offer bread with dinner (bread plates and knives available) or coffee with dessert unless asked OR new to the job.
We will dine here again but most likely without the coursed dinner (I get it; since the evening is most likely busy and the easiest way to serve multitudes).
Pear Salad was the most notable item we had along with the Short Rib Ravioli.
Factor in yet one more Resort Fee charge!
Always fun to enjoy ocean-side dining! Service could use a bit of help!
Food was not good. Spent $75 and didnt get full didnt enjoy the food i had raw duck it was pink and gross, never recommend this place to anyone overpriced not good and waste of money portions are not enough food nothing special, also saw in the kitchen working making deserts with there hands that who knows are clean or not and whipped it againts the food. overall dont waste your money for this "fancy" place.
Pierside was quiet, quaint & romantic. Service was excellent- attentive, but gracious, not overbearing. Food was delicious, but portions were a little small. Total bill was a little pricy. We very much enjoyed our meal at Pierside. It was a special, splurge date night. It was lovely to see the lights of Canada reflect on the water outside the window.
Food was okay, nothing spectacular, and very small portions. Price was a bit high for the overall experience. Staff was not very friendly or attentive. Seating by the window is nice but the windows have a wooden beam right at eye level so you can't see much. I'd recommend only because if you're staying at Semiahmoo there's not much else there and traveling to Bellingham is a bother.
Loved this restaurant! The food was amazing and it was so nice being right on the water.
Food was great, well prepared and presented. They accommodated a special dietary need. Great service.
Three of us dined here sharing the halibut and the cioppino. We started with the heirloom tomato salad. Outstanding!! Red and yellow tomatoes, and a creamy, delicious burrata with olive oil and a vinaigrette. Zero mush in the excellently flavored tomatoes. The mix of flavors was perfect. The Halibut came with English peas and celery root. It was cooked perfectly. The fish was seared on one side and just flaky and moist throughout. It was a mild flavored dish that needed nothing added. It even went well with the 2010 Temperanillo. The cioppino was OMG yummy. Spicy and so full of delicious clams, shrimps, halibut, chorizo, mussels and salmon. It comes in a huge bowl with delicious herbed bread for soaking up that wonderful broth. We were too full for dessert but if I'd had room, i would have had the roasted peach with blueberry sorbet and honeycomb. Ooh!
It was a bit chilly sitting by the window but we had jackets and the views were worth the cool. Besides, we burned a few extra calories. (whew! - I ate a lot of bread - I almost forgot!!!!! Even the butter was hard to not eat right off the plate - all by itself. Salted and lemon? Just yum.
Definitely returning to this excellent restaurant.
Had a great 40th anniversary at Semiahmoo Resort and Spa. Had dinner at both on site Restaurants and found them to have a good selection. Portions were a bit small at Pierside however, and the cost was more than we expected for what we received.
We'd been to Pierside before. As with our last visit, this time we had a few moments of stellar food. Specifically, halibut was cooked with a perfect crust, but it was put in a fashionable bowl that's hard to eat from, and which contained a broth that largely did in the crispiness of the fish. More pressing issue for the restaurant is to tidy up service. As on our previous visit, the waits between courses were as much as 100% too long, at least 50% too long by even generous reckoning. I don't think we'll return for dinner.
Great potential yet very poor execution- seemed like the wait staff and kitchen were out of sync and backed up. 35 minutes between soup service and entrees - really. The poor tempo spoiled the experience. The food was tasty, attractively plated and adequate in size.
Our server comp'd a dessert, which saved the evening from a single star.
Very disappointed in service! Slow. Forgetful. Dirty dishes on the table during dessert
My husband and I stayed the night at the resort and ate dinner at the Pierside for our anniversary. The food was ok. Pretty good flavor and presentation but a bit overpriced. We should have stuck with ordering off the wine list rather than cocktails though. I can't remember ever sending something back, but I couldn't taste anything but olive juice in my dirty martini. Fortunately our server was kind enough to swap it out for a glass of wine.
We've been hear many times. The noise level is moderate;you can carry a conversation while you are eating.
The food is excellent. Prepared timely and to your instructions. The taste oh The taste is delicious and dessert my favorite is highly recommended.
The views are nice and peaceful, Overlooking the water and white rock. Great when at night when lite up.
We've been here a few times, and we love it, but the service seemed to be especially slow tonight. Don't get me wrong, the service was great, it just felt like we waited forever for our drinks and our food...and our dessert...and our bill. With two kiddos at the table that was a little rough. Normally the service is much faster. Oh well! We'd still go back! The food is worth the wait!
We really enjoyed our dining experience. The meals, service, and view were good and worth the travel. In fact, we came by sailboat and stayed over night in the Semiahmoo marina dining for dinner and then breakfast at the Pierside Kitchen and drinks at Packer's Bar. The view from both restaurants is spectacular.
Good food, good service, amazing views, so peaceful i felt like i was in another world
Nice and quiet when dining outside and good for conversations. Inside is very noisy and hard to carry on a conversation. Great views whether eating inside or out. Not had a bad meal yet. A pleasure to have locally sourced food & drink.
