Pacifico - New Haven, CT Ratings and Reviews
Had a wonderful family dinner at this location today. I'm always amazed at the great service and the amazing food. They always go out of their way when I bring my four year old daughter with me. This is her favorite restaurant and she is quite the foodie already.
We met friends for dinner before a show at College Street Music Hall. Service was excellent. Waiter was very friendly and helpful. Let us enjoy dinner and drinks at our own pace. Everything from drinks to apps to entrees was very good. I would definitely go back when I’m in New Haven again.
Went here on last night of Restaurant week. First off the whole place smells like the kitchen. Poor ventilation perhaps, but it's overwhelming and only gets worse when you are sitting directly above the kitchen. I ordered a margarita with no salt and when the waiter delivered the drinks he said, sorry I just noticed they put salt on it, and just left it there. Why not take it back and make it right? But I let it slide and the drink was awful because I don't like salt! Dinner was just ok, Arroz con pollo which was very salty. We waited a bit for dessert and when it came out the waiter said sorry, I noticed only one had whipped cream so I'll give it to the lady.... what???? How about you problem solve and get whipped cream on the other dish? It was chocolate lava cake that was ice cold. Inedible... and I said to the waiter, isn't lava cake supposed to hot and he said sorry, would you like to take it home to reheat?? We both said no so he took our plates and returned with the full bill. I get restaurant week is supposed to a deal but a $100 meal should be better than this. I would not return to this restaurant.
Gotta say our visit was very disappointing. Went during restaurant week. The service was unbelievably slow. From the time we ordered our drinks, 1/2 hour to getting apps, another 1/2 hour, to getting our dinner. Total time 2 plus hours & the restaurant wasn't even busy!!
We will NOT return
We have been there several times. This was the worst experience I have ever experienced. We waited over 20 minutes before someone took our order. Didn’t get drink order at all and came back asking to verify the order. Waited another 30 minutes for food. Had theater tickets, so husband got food to go. When we got home, the rice pudding was runny and watery. Jello makes better pudding. But the kicker was I ordered a vegetable risotto, when I got home it was some chicken/rice meal. They gave me someone else’s leftovers!!!! Disgusting!!! I could see the chicken was half eaten . I was appalled!!!! Never in my life had I experienced such a terrible dining experience. We will NEVER return.
Starter and main and drinks were phenomenal. Some of the best food I have ever had inn New Haven. The dessert (lava cake) was terrible. It was all a pasty consistency- no actual 'cake' and 'lava'. It was a sad end to an otherwise fantastic meal.
Service was great too. The waiters were present without hovering.
It was the worst experience of our life.. first we get there our reserve was for 9 we didn't have a table until 945 then we had to go and get a waitress our self never came to us then the water boy gave us 3 cup of water and we were a group of 4 then he even forgot to bring us the fourth cup....I will never recommended or never enter there again guy in the front rude horrible never again
There is no bread basket to have with your drinks. Each diner is only allowed to get one individual slice of bread prior to the meal, so don’t ask for any more...you will not get it. This makes absolutely no sense! Ordered three tapas-empanadas, mofungo, and garlic shrimp. After a bite of each, there was no need to continue. Nothing was seasoned well, so we just sipped our drinks and didn't bother to attempt with an entree afterwards.
Huge disappointment, because the online review of the menu made everything sound very good.
The music was so loud it was difficult to have a conversation, and the service was very slow - so many people stopped by the table, but each had a specific job (drop off food or refill water, etc) and didn't ask if you wanted/needed anything else. The appetizers were okay, but neither of us liked the entrees that we ordered. The veggie risotto had an odd flavor that made it very unappetizing, and the fish dish that my husband ordered wasn't any better. The portion sizes were tiny for the price. Not somewhere I would recommend, and we definitely won't go back.
The service was horrible. The servers took forever to take our order and then after complaining the food came 45 min later. That was outrageous. We had to rush to eat to make a show. I had to ask for the check when my dinner was served to me. They were not that busy. I also complained to the manager and he did nothing about it. They also had the nerve to put the 20 percent tip on the check which we should not have paid. I have eaten here before but this will be the last time.
The food was good. Our waiter was attentive & nice! The place looked very clean. We tried several items off the menu. Its a little loud, good for friends gathering, not so good for conversation. Not a romantic evening kinda place. The paella was a little salty & the shrimp was tough because it was cooked IN the paella, which everyone knows you CAN'T do because the seafood gets tough. We also ordered crab croquettas but what came was a crabcake, not that I'm against crab cakes, but that's NOT a croquetta! It was tasty tho so I can forgive it. The beef kabobs were very good & so were the drinks!! The worst thing about it was the two idiot professors that sat next to us talked loudly of politics The Whole Time. Grrrrrrrr!
I was excited to finally get the opportunity to go to Pacifico. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The waiter came after about 15 minutes to take the drink order. We ordered 3 of the recommended special cocktails which were adequate at best. I did not order a second of the same but ordered a regular margarita, I think the bar tender forgot the tequila. I then ordered a second margarita but requested a double shot of tequila. That drink was better. The menu was great but the food was only good. Nothing gave me a wow experience. I can go on and on but I will spare you. I can only say try it for yourself. Once was enough for us.
Everything was overall good. The food was delicious but the portions were on the small side, very small side. I probably could have eaten three main courses and still had room for desert. Staff was very good and responsive. The music was a little loud for a date. It's not good when you have to keep asking what the other person said.
When we arrived I told the host we had reservation, he ignored me and seat us in a table by the bar which was really noisy. I oredered the salmon, which was good, but I specifically told the waiter that I couldn´t eat kale nor mushrooms. He did not offer any side, so I assumed they were going to put some other veggies. When my food arrived it had the kale, lots of it, I did not say anything but requested that if I could have a side of the fried rice (my husband had the churrasco with fried rice) , he left and about ten minutes later, after I finished my salmon he came with a yellow rice, I told him that I ordered a side of FRIED RICE, he answered that was only served with the churrasco!🙄. I did not ate the yellow rice, we asked for our check and left, will never come back!
One of my favorite Latin restaurants in New Haven. A perfect spot for happy hour with great drinks and food specials. The freshly prepared guacamole is definitely a can't miss addition to your meal. The real selling point is their unique events that are offered throughout the year like wine diners. They are also a great spot for people who are gluten free or have other food restrictions.
